Masseria Torre Maizza is located in the most glamorous destination on the Italian Adriatic coast. Inspired by the sensational landscapes of Puglia and the ethos of Rocco Forte Hotels, it exquisitely blends local heritage with contemporary luxury and unparalleled service. Surrounded by ancient olive groves, the renovated 16th century masseria will be filled with thoughtful design accents and details to create a unique sense of place, from the stunning Olga Polizzi-designed rooms and suites to the romantic sunset rooftop bar and elegant restaurant overlooking the swimming pool. The resort also features a 9-hole executive golf course, a private beach club and an indulgent spa.
Beautiful small hotel in the countryside. The interior designer and architect did an incredible job by creating the impression to be in a simple and stylish countryside mansion but maintaining a 5 star quality at all times. We stayed for 7 days in the Grand Suite with Plunge Pool which is beautiful and must have been recently renovated as everything looked impeccable. However, what makes this place absolutely outstanding is the staff. Everyone at the reception is incredibly friendly. They manage to create the impression that you are staying with friends of friends. The heart and soul of the team is Pasquale, the head concierge, who did an outstanding job. Do follow his and Fortunnato’s ( also really knowledgeable and lovely) recommendations! They know what they are doing. They are from the region and their recommendations were always great! I need to mention Gusseppina ( Gusy) who is working in the restaurant. Such a sweet and lovely person who provides outstanding service. I would highly recommend to rent a car. Besides the beautiful sights all around which you should visit, it is very nice to leave the hotel for lunch and dinner. Don‘t misunderstand me, the restaurant is great. But you can get a more authentic, simple and way better priced alternative, if you are looking for a true Italian experience.

We had an amazing stay and unfortunately it was only for two nights. Concierges were amazing before and during the stay. Upon check in. We were upgraded to a suite with a pool. Room was extremely comfortable and best shower.
Carmen at the bar was so fun to be with. One night we were only ones in bar, and he still played until we left. He is so much fun and a nice way to end the evening.
We didn’t have a car and the hotel was able to shuttle us to dinner and to go to Borgo Egnazia . We had lunch there and then a tour of the property. It is impressive but felt lost the personal touches and authenticity that Rocco Forte offers. If I had young children though. this might be better option as they have an extensive kids program.
Had the olive oil experience at the spa. It was amazing and felt pricing was fair for a resort. The massage was just as good as what I get at home. Book in advance as spa only has two rooms.
Breakfast was extensive and everything you want. Ate one night at restaurant and unfortunately we were still too full from lunch. The kitchen happily made us minestrone soup that was delicious and perfect.
I also liked how the resort adds a discretionary 5 percent tip off of room rate at end of stay. I loved this as you didn’t have to worry about tipping staff and felt that everyone got equally taken care of.
Would love to go back!!!

We like this group but this ones the poor country cousin.
Great rooms but lacks privacy at this price. Remote location with little effort to compensate. €170 plus to get a driver to go to their recommended restaurant 25 mins away due to them charging you for him to stay for the 3 hours of our meal. C’mon!
The hotel Restaurant was so so, too pricey, the staff were inexperienced at the level they are trying to project. The pool side restaurante and bar were the winners. Best pizzas ever. Service with a smile at both.
A lack of strong management was evident with the focus on an up coming American wedding which had booked out the hotel and really made many guests who spoke to us about it annoyed that their dollar wasn’t as good as others.
We are Americans and get tipping but the staff were so motivated by tipping and actually aggressive about it which we tested a few times. Tip and they deliver. At this level it comes without tipping.
Some suggestions. A free driver service is required to overcome their remote location not the current one that gets you to the village which has very little on offer. The local restaurants are so so. The hotel needs more chilled and visible management not the sort of stuck up stuff we saw. In passing we saw one of the richest Swedes refusing to pay their exorbitant driver fees and then getting a taxi herself for a fraction of the cost which sort of says it all. Sort the restaurant as it’s ain’t good at this level. The hotel is bordered by a lot of nasty looking industrial type buildings which detracted from the rustic description so be more upfront about that and that the rooms are so close to each other in a sort of terrace. On the rooms not sure you can charge these rates for such a product. We noted they were acquiring their own beach club as the current one was not nice.
An odd Rocco Forte establishment which has a lot to do to get better as slick interior design and a good brand image elsewhere isn’t good enough to gloss over the cracks.

The room was beautiful. We had interconnecting rooms (though they never opened the connecting door despite several requests) and I cannot say enough about how fresh and lovely it was. So clean! The outdoor space was lovely to spend the morning relaxing. The walls are quite thin though - I could hear my family snoring and talking.
The property has many quiet hours - I think because it was the beginning of the season, the pool bar was closed, and there wasn't anywhere to have a drink before the lovely bar room opened in the evening.
The golf was run by a lovely man. We played several times - the course is pretty and the only negative is garbage bags on the inside of the wall which locals clearly use to dispose of their own garbage. But I think they should drive the course and find these things. I also think that the grass outside the rooms all needed cutting, and it was so strange not to do it before a busy Easter week?
What really let the hotel down was breakfast. The employees are welcoming and work hard, but it's sort of a disaster. Buffet (and I do NOT like buffet) would work better. Sit down, ask for a coffee. Ask for a coffee, ask again. Five days, and not one day did everything arrive. WE heard many other tables kindly say 'our coffee, tea, eggs never arrived, don't worry but we are leaving for the day'.
Housekeeping are always the unsung heroes, and this is no exception. However, the room has tea and coffee machines. But they take the cups away and don't replace them. Ever. One day I asked for new cups, and got some. The next night I called from our dinner to request some, but they never arrived. Also, sometimes no one came to do the room until 4 pm. We were back for the day and had to go walk around for a while (nothing is open on the hotel grounds). Most hotels send housekeeping in when you arrive at breakfast and give your room number. Also, one night they were there when we returned from diner late, and they took the towels that were hanging, unused, from their 4pm daily housekeeping. Fine, but strange.
All in all, it's lovely, but the service and quality was very inconsistent, and the breakfast a debacle.

We have been staying at Masseria Torre Maizza in the meanwhile 6 or 7 times, so obviously we love this place. The entire staff always goes the extra mile for us and is just extremely friendly and you can tell it is Italian hospitality coming from the heart. I especially want to mention Paola, Furtunato, Pasquale, Atonio, Nicodemo and Marianna who make us feel right at home in Puglia and remember all our preferences without us having to say one word anymore. Last but not least, I also need to give a shout out to Carmelo, the singer and entertainer of the Masseria. His energy is infectious, we love his humour and that he makes everyone feel special and part of his show. We always prefer a more intimate hotel with personalized service and in addition we really like the style of the Masseria and interior design of the rooms. Congrats to Franco Girasoli (GM) and the entire team for making this such a special place. Can't wait to be back.

The group is well known, and usually synonymous with quality but in this case the product is not Aligned with the price 1,100 euros per night are not justified Modest breakfast with packaged cakes Fruit a little back Little rich
Spa Irene strong only two sunbeds, no indoor pool, no sauna or steam room
Outdoor pool too cold for October
Made for Americans who swallow anything, in fact it was full of Americans, but for a conscious clientele is not good

When you read this review, please take into consideration that we were paying approx 800euros per night and therefore our expectations were very high. We stayed in late September and the resort was obviously winding down. Having said this, after checking in (the room was beautiful and was a great mix between elegant/resort/parred back luxury) we went to the pool to have a coffee, it was just before 4pm and although the pool restaurant was meant to stay open till 4pm, we were told that it was closed and that we should go to the bar instead. We headed up to the bar, only to find a notice saying it was also closed and to go to the restaurant. We then went to the restaurant and asked to sit at a table outside, looking towards the pool, which was empty, only to be told that because it was a large table (for 8), we could not sit there in case a larger party came in - which we found not very service minded given that the restaurant was all but empty, as was the hotel. Finally we took a seat outside at the back of the restaurant, feeling totally unimpressed by our arrival experience. That afternoon we headed back to the pool for a swim, around 5.30 and when we asked for a towel we were told that the pool will close in 30 minutes (and the pool cleaning machine was already in the pool, so we had to swim around it! ) From then on in the experience improved, the service was generally good all round as was the food, the pool restaurant made amazing pizzas. The breakfast was great, the service there was also very good. The bar is small but makes good cocktails. The hotel itself is very tasteful, 90% of the guests we saw were couples and mainly from the uk. There is a 9 hole golf course and a very small spa (which was partially shut due to COVID) All in all, I would say that it was a good hotel but for the price paid, the service was at times quite erratic. After 4 nights we headed over to Lecce and stayed at the Fiermontina Urban Resort in Lecce which was stunning!

Dear Mary D, thank you so much for choosing Masseria Torre Maizza for your stay and for your feedback. Despite the title of your review, we are glad that the overall stay was very good. We are glad you found, As you mentioned, that the room was beautiful and the hotel tasteful and that the food was good with a particular attention to our amazing pizzas and the breakfast. It is a pleasure you also appreciated our service and our very cosy bar and the cocktails offer. We kindly ask you to contact us directly since it seems like some of the issue you mentioned do not reflect the service we offer. In fact, our pool bar is open every day from noon to 4 p.m. and our swimming pool closes at 6:30 in the summer season. Our Bougainvillea Bar, instead, is open everyday from 4 p.m. until 1 a.m. and has a large number of seating both outdoors on the patio and indoors. Our spa has two treatment cabins and a relaxation area which are both available during this particular season, we were probably fully booked at the time you requested the treatment. We always recommend to book in advance in order to guarantee the preferred spot. We recommend you to check our promotions page on the Rocco Forte website to get the best deal for your next stay. Kind regards

We visited Masseria Torre Maizza for an aperitif and dinner. The location is gorgeous, a gem surrounded by beautiful olive trees. We enjoyed a glass of wine and bubbles by the pool and we were delighted from the live piano music and small appetisers which were delicious. Dinner was served at the restaurant in the garden where we enjoyed a beautiful sunset on the olive trees. Everything was perfect, from the attentive service to the tremendous food (do not miss the seabass!) We cannot wait to be back again! Highly recommended!
