Detailed Reviews
We have a cabin not too far from Finz. Last August we made a reservation for 7:30 on a Friday night, when we arrived we were told our table wouldn't be ready until 8:00. We were fine with the delay (we were actually seated at 8:10) but once we did get our table and ordered our meals we waited almost another hour and 1/2 for our food! Our Server did apologize to us but no one in management said anything or tried to compensate us in anyway. We were not the only patrons experiencing this kind of delay, it was definitely the theme of the evening.I realize that August is the very height of the season but still, make sure you have adequate staff or don't take so many reservations. Once we got our food it was adequate, but, if you are going to make people wait that long to eat (almost 2 hours from the time we arrived) then the food had better be sensational.

We stayed in site 37 for 10 days and had a great time. There are a few things to know about this resort. Let’s start with the positive: the campground was quiet, the spot was cleaned up and ready and two young guys helped us park and made sure we were all set up, the showers are $1 for 7 minutes, the food and service was excellent, the laundry was a great bonus, the wifi was decent enough, Terri the manager was excellent and although we did not rent a sea-do we checked around and the prices seem good. Things to know: the spots are small but this is to be expected, we like “across the road” better as its more private, quiet and has more trees, the bathrooms were iffy - people sign off on the cleaning but don’t actually clean (for example the same dirty diaper was in the garbage can for 3 days), there is a strong sewage odor and sometimes garbage odor particularly in the spots nearest the entry gate, although the beach was spotless and private there were many ducks and geese (which likely can’t be helped) but in short order we decided swimming there could be iffy. Overall there were many more pluses so we booked again for next summer. I would recommend to stay in the vicinity of spot 37.

The restaurant was lovely and the service was really good even though we went on a busy night.
The RV site wasn’t very nice though I’m afraid, it was extremely tightly packed and rather than touring RVs it felt like semi permanent accommodation with large trailers for a lot of the people there. It seemed like a decent number where there for work such was the number of large trucks moving around the site.
Also the waste drains are right next to your next door neighbours eating areas which really isn’t very nice to be on the receiving end of.
There’s also a charge for the showers, that came as a surprise as this was by some distance the most expensive site we stayed at and we didn’t come across that anywhere else.

Before arriving we were asked to sign a 2 page form stating we read and promise to abide by the rules. Upon check-in we were told that someone would show up to go over where and how to park our RV on the site. We explained we are already backed in, however we were told that someone would come and check in case we had any questions. Our dirt site was crammed in the middle of two RVs that looked like they were there for the season. On one side of us the RV was a good 1-2 feet in our site and our fire pit was almost under his slide out. I think this campground would be good for people that need a place to park their RV while they boat all day and then come back to eat, drink, sleep. Only 30 amp. Considering the $70/night I expected it to be fairly well maintained. We had the water shut off on us with no notice (except for a note posted outside the washroom, which we didn't use because we had a full service site), it was only off for a an hour or so. The next day the sewer lift station sounded an alarm because the pump was clogged. We had to smell sewer with our morning breakfast.
Loud until midnight then would quiet down. Not a kid friendly resort. No playground or green space for kids, beach is tiny and weedy. Resort mostly caters to boaters and restaurant goers not RVers with families.
We rented paddle boards and the whole rental process was great.

This is our second full season at Finz. Steve is really great to deal with, going above and beyond to be helpful. The sites are well kept and the staff that help with the trailers are outstanding. It does seem to be more for older families/folks as there isn't a playground, just a beach by the marina, but for everything they do have, you couldn't ask for better. For boating families it is great. Food, marina, beach and camping. The restaurant food is very good. They are often quite busy (get a reservation if possible, very easy to deal with) but every time we have eaten there, we have been impressed with the quality of the food. The serving staff at the restaurant has always been outstanding.

We’ve moored our boat there for 3 years.. sadly the new manager Deanna has threatened to make it our last. The owners new gf Deanna is running the show and is the least professional person I’ve encountered. Including leaving a message saying she was going to tow our boat and leave it on a bouy if we didn’t call her back. We miss sandy. She was the best. Helpful, professional, all of the staff have made it a joy and worth the two hours we travel to moor our boat there. Don’t know what happened over the winter but sandy is gone and I’ve been made to feel like a criminal after three years of patronage. I have managed in the hospitality industry my entire career and no patron should ever be made to feel the way we were without a discussion preceding an accusation. It’s a shame really because trying to sort it out will just fall on deaf ears so I’ve been told to leave my review here instead. Sandy! I miss you! And so does our dog Remy

Response from John Tymstra, Owner at Finz Resort
Responded 13 May 2021
Allison, as a business owner I have an obligation to protect our business and our other clientele in every way possible. As you stated you have been a client for the past several years so you are well aware of the requirements and the contract obligations you have prior to mooring your boat in our marina. Our staff have left several messages, emails etc. and tried very hard to reach you. We are open everyday and answer emails and voicemails promptly. We did manage to speak with your spouse who stated he would get back to us but never did. Regardless, you did go ahead and moor your boat in the marina without having completed the mandatory requirements. Unfortunately it took a strong message from us before we received any further feedback. At Finz Resort we strive to provide the best customer service, facilities that are well maintained and of a high standard and we pride ourselves on accomplishing this. There are valid reasons for each requirement and as of the date of posting this response you remain delinquent on several and our concern for our marina and our other moorage customers remains in effect. We are hopeful that in the future the lines of communication are more open and we can work through this. We look forward to prompt receipt of the rest of your required documentation. Deanna

After a bit of a booking mix up for two trailers to camp, the staff went above and beyond to accommodate us. We were able to camp together, in a great spot with full hookups. Deanna helped us so much after a bit of stress thinking we weren't going to be able to come for the weekend. The food at the restaurant is always great and we got take-out to our campsite. Thanks for a great weekend!

Sweet spot on beautiful Shuswap Lake. Late evening the sun was descending & casting a golden light on the restaurant.
The place was buzzing with happy people , band was playing groovy tunes. ✅👌
Quickly seated had a delicious, and juicy cubana with 🍹.
Can’t wait to go back.

First off the people working here are great. Terri (spelling?) was awesome. So nice and so helpful. I was even met by a couple nice young guys who directed me into my spot. Great spot that is. They had showers and laundry too. Boat and jet ski rentals. The pub has good food and fantastic service but make a reservation because it’s busy. Would I stay here again? Already booked for 2022

We were travelling by RV in mid August and called ahead to Finz RV Resort on Schuswap lake. The girl on the phone told us that they had a nice beach and forested camp sites. My friend gave her his visa number to hold the sites for when arrived and said that we would square up when we got there as we had three seperate Rvs. We arrived around 5pm and were told that our sites were across the road from the lake. The so called forested sites had few trees and was a dust bowl. The sites were so uneven that we needed boards to level our rigs as the jacks on the rigs weren't enough to do the job. The so called nice beach was actually a marina and the beach was covered in dog and large bird feces. Not to mention oil and scum from the marina. The rate was $65 CAD per night and the girl had charged it all to my friends visa instead of just holding the sites. They refused to credit his visa so we could pay seperately. All in all this was a bad experience and I would not recommend this RV resort. We were planning on staying for a few days but promply left the next morning.
