I can see from the reviews there are very good and very bad reviews. Well its not 5 star but in comparison with other chambre d'hotes we stayed at its a bit basic and lacking in any atmosphere. No lounge means you have to stay in the rather austere bedrooms with one very small window. BUT the biggest problem is...

Have returned from my third visit to Masion de la Foret and want to say how much I enjoyed staying in this beautiful house with its wonderfully well maintained gardens and surroundings. It is situated conveniently near the airport and Bergerac, two very important facts. The rooms are clean anad freshly decorated and the owners are a charming couple. I...

We have recently returned from a beautiful weeks stay in Bergerac where we managed to combine both business and a few days sightseeing. Maison de la Foret provided an ideal base and was set in the most beautiful of surroundings. The proprietors were an English couple who were excellent hosts who made us feel more than welcome. We found this to...

Nice new road just behind the trees. Nice noisy trucks and cars. Nice 'interesting' smell in the room. Nice (very) cheap towels. Nice absence of courtesy soap in the bathroom. Nice spiders. Nice instant coffee and nice 'un-French' croissants (from the day before?). Yes, we left the following day to our arrival. An experience not to forget... PS) REMOVE THOSE...

I must correct this totally inaccurate review of our hotel, especially the comment "Remove those carpets for God's sake. All en-suite bedrooms are carpeted and 4 of the 5 rooms had new quality carpets replaced in February 07. The other carpet which is in perfect condition was thoroughly steamed cleaned at the same time. All bedrooms are hovered daily ......maybe...

The photos on the website made this look very appealing but oh dear. We were so disappointed. It was very basic, the bed was not really a double, the decor was dreadful, there were spiders and cobwebs in corners, the windows were dirty, there was no underlay under the awful orange nylon carpet, the furniture was the cheapest flat pack....

I'm most concerned to read the above inaccurate and false review of our hotel, since all our guest rooms were redecorated during January and February 2007. We've already cared for over 250 guests this year (22 June 07) and no guests have booked out early complaining of poor decoration or low standards......I find it hard to believe that any guest...

My partner and I visited Bergerac in May as we have become more and more interested in wine and where better to go then the Dordogne? The chambre d'hote was delightfully nestled amongst trees and by a lake, and all such a short distance from the airport. As soon as we entered the place, we were greeted with such warmth...

Stayed here for a couple of nights in September. Was a bit depressing to be honest. The room we had only had one small window which left the room fairly dark during the day. Unfortunately, what would have been a remote and lovely location has been spoilt by the building of a new road right outside the property. We were...

The owners were really friendly and helpful, and made us feel really welcome but the B&B was not how were expected and we were really disserpointed. The house was right next to a large, busy road and it was really noisy. The rooms were small, clean but the hotel seems to have a masive wasp (maybe hornet?) problem. There was...

My wife and I recently returned from a fantastic break at Maison de la Foret and wish we could have stayed longer. The English owners , Mr. & Mrs Swainson, were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble to make our stay as pleasant as possible. The room we had was spotless and the bed very comfortable. The food...

We recently enjoyed 2 faboulas weeks at this lovely hotel. The location is both beautiful and peaceful with extensive gardens leading into the forest. There is an attractive pool and a fishing lake where we caught several carp. The English owners were extremely charming and helpful, with lots of local knowledge and useful infomation. There are many interesting places to...

“Ask for the room overlooking the pool area not only is it a lovely room which is quiet but there is also a balcony and has from what we could see to have the best view of the beautiful gardens (this was our room!)”
