I stayed at la Casa for 3 weeks, this place is perfect for people who are looking to stay a couple of weeks or more as you really get to know the people you live with and the place itself really feels like a home from the start. The house itself is amazing and has a very chilled vibe with...

Jose and Arian make you feel at home straight away. The house is right on the beach, no need to even walk outside to check the surf! The rooms are big and comfortable and there is a fully stocked kitchen downstairs. I stayed for 3 weeks and made friends with other travellers who were also breaking up their trip with...

Jose and Arian are amazing people! The rooms are big, the kitchen is big and has everything you need. We stayed for 2 weeks after a few nights in montañita. It was the perfect place to relax after montañita. Ayampe is a very special place and we will definitely be back!

We came to Ayampe, whose motto is A Place to Relax last year, around this time. That time was my wife and I, and this year we were joined by my son and his wife, both 36. We enjoyed sun and surf, and Josés hospitality. La Casa Surf & Yoga is right on the beach, so even if you don't...

I spent a little over three weeks in Ayampe and two weeks at La Casa. Jose did a wonderful job building the house. And together him and his unpredictably strange partner do a great job keeping the atmosphere of the building light and friendly, a great place for a long term stay. It's hard to find somewhere traveling alone where...

Thanks for the review Nick! We are glad you enjoyed your stay and we hope you safely made it to the southwest beaches of Colombia and that the surf is treating you well. We look forward to seeing you again sometime soon!

I spent two weeks in Ayampe on a solo surf trip and stayed at La Casa. La Casa is right on the beach - when you step out the front gate, your feet sink into sand. This means you fall asleep to the sounds of the ocean:) The house: there is a spacious hangout area in the lobby with couches...

We had an absolutely wonderful time at Jose Barba's La Casa Surf. Our arrival to Ayampe was delayed by a day, but Jose was flexible and accommodated us with no problem. Not even the hint of a problem. The house has spacious common areas to rest and relax, and the private rooms are comfortable. The hot water was as advertised,...

This would have to be one of the best places we have stayed in! Directly in front of the beach, the suites are spacious and private and every room has a balcony. The kitchen has everything you might need and there are occasional group dinners around the fire pit if you feel like joining them. Jose is friendly and helpful...

I came in early January. It's almost April and I'm still here. If you're looking for a place that's comfortable to live in and on the beach, this is the best bet. It's geared to people looking to stay longer than a few days, having a shared kitchen and some beautiful art in the shared lounges. If you're wondering why...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
La Casa is located in front of the beach with spectacular views of the ocean and the lagoon. With lots of comfortable, shared spaces, La Casa is a home-away-from-home for the traveler looking relish in the beauty, authenticity, and tranquility of the Ecuadorian coast. The three-story house has a shared kitchen, six private rooms with bathrooms en-suite, and two private suites with private kitchens and a terrace. Residents of the hotel often book a room for 2 weeks (the minimum stay), but more often than not, they stay for 3 months, or even sometimes for a year (seriously). We often joke with the guests of La Casa that they come to Ecuador to see the coast, the Galapagos, and the Amazon, but once they come to Ayampe, they simply never leave. Ayampe may be a small town, but it has its own unique charm that seems to entice travelers, surfers, yogis, and artists from all over the world. We often organize group activities, such as snorkeling, hiking, whale-watching (July-November) and even karaoke. Guests share their cultures over grilled fish in the fire pit or in the surf line-up and become friends amongst the waves. In Ayampe, La Casa becomes your home and the guests become your family. At La Casa, we encourage you to immerse yourself in this small, coastal beach town where you can practice your Spanish with locals or take formal Spanish courses, where you can surf twice a day or on lazy days swing in a hammock while watching epic sunsets and drinking a fresh coco, or fish for shrimps in the nearby river and eat bananas that actually taste like bananas, and where you can decompress and leave your stress behind at daily yoga. But most of all, we encourage you to soak up inspiration from the beauty that surrounds you here and, until then, your home home-away-from-home at La Casa awaits you :-) ... more   less
