I had such a great experience in this place and I definitely recommend it it. Note that is kind of a transit hostel, which means that most of the guests I met here will take the next step in their trips from here :) Of course, your experience will be based on which kind of person/traveler you are. If you love staying 24/7 with your phone, could t be the same experience I had. I stopped in Sengiggi (where On the Way Hostel is based) in order to wait for my visa extension. As soon as I checked in, the brilliant and legendaries Alan & Denis checked me in. They introduced me to another guest and we got along pretty well, so 2 days later, I rented a scooter with this guy and went to Kuta Lombok for 2 days. I came back, said goodbye to my friend and easily got along with a different group of people. This kind of people who love to have a cigarette along with a coffee and a nice chat. Still the great Alan and Denis where there always ready to have a chat, support with anything and mostly making sure that their guests were having a great time. At the same time, my visa got delayed and I had a problem with my credit card so I literally stayed stuck with no money for 3 days. And Alan and Denis supported me until I fixed the problem. I recommend you to learn Bahasa Indonesia. Alan and Denis are very keen to learn any new language and share with you all what they know about the local culture and about the language. During these 3 days waiting to sort out my credit card issue, I had the chance of meeting Susan, the owner of the hostel. Quickly, she invited me with more guests to try out the charter service on a boat they had just started. So I talked to the guests I met and we made a nice 6 guests group to join the boat trip. And as it was to just try it out, it was for free. Susan was as kind as her son Dilan, a cool 23 year old half Indonesian - half Aussie guy. He is the captain and know everything about the ocean, and you can even learn some basics about sailing when talking to him. He really loves his job :) We had a great time on the boat trip, going from Sengiggi beach to a place 17 kms away and came back for sunset. Right now, hopefully they are already working on these tours. The price is around 9 Euros. You should guys definitely try it. Special thanks to Susan and Dilan for the amazing experience and memory. Overall, Sengigii is a transit place but with so much potential. There are great restaurants around the hostel. May during the day the area looks calm but at night, is full of people! Lot of party vibes and nigh club options. And one of the best parts: the locals from Sengiggi. AMAZINGLY friendly people!! Super easy to get along with them and join them for a party. Or for a surf sessions, as if the conditions are appropiate, you can surf right in the corner of Sengiggi beach, as well as in other spots around. On the Way Hostel, as I said, is a transit place and you overall experience will depend on yourself. If you are in the right mindset, you ll get a totally new experience with the team working there (Alan, Denis, Susan and Dilan) + with other foreigners. Being a transit place, almost everybody is keen to improvise a new place, so On the Way Hostel makes easier to get to know people and share with them the next stage of your journey. The place is basic, clean and comfy. They have free (Lombok) coffee which Alana & Denis won t hesitate to share with you with a Surya rokok (local cigarretes brand) and have some fun whenever they are not busy with their tasks. Just a remark: there are a few locals who don t work there coming to chill there, they must be friend of the owners. It s not a problem but they take the few bean bags available. As a suggestion, buy more bean bags & a sofa guys! The place is great, but may missing more comfortable sitting place Whether you are heading to Kuta Lombok, Mount Rinjani, to Mataram to extend your passport, to the Gili islands, Komodo, Bali or just to the airport. On the Way Hostel is the place to be! Thanks to all of you Alan, Denis, Susan and Dilan. Saya tingal dua bulan di Indonesia tapi On the Way Hostel selalu tingal di harti saya.…

I arrived at this hostel from Gili T and lots of waiting around for a lift. I found myself arriving to a quiet hostel and area. This was perfect for me because i just come from the party island of Gili T. The host is a wonderful woman who is inviting and friendly, always looking to help you out. It is close to plenty of restaurants and shops to get your essentials and bits. If you want to hire a bike or book anything then you can with the hostel owner which makes travelling easier and you can trust that you won't be ripped off by a salesman in the area. It really depends on when you visit this island, currently in the low season so it's very quiet but if you very in the high season this place would also be perfect with plenty of beds for travellers to stay in. Overall great hostel and people.…

I stayed 3 nights and I really had a good time. The hostel is cheap, clean and Susan the owner is so nice. It had a lot of backpackers so it was a nice place to meet people. The dorms have AC, which is a nice plus. Recommended!

Not the greatest of hostels. Beds looked dirty and there were found bedbugs in one of the dorms. Not cool. Staff was alright but did not come across as very friendly. Showers and toilets did the job, but could do with a good clean. Unfortunately I didnt get to try the breakfast, since it wasnt being serves due to the holidays. On the plus side everyone staying there was super nice, and we had a good time! Also, if you book your boat going out of bangsal from the hostel, notice that they will drop you off a bit before the harbour and try to make you take a horse cart for an extra (unexpected) fee. If you dont mind walking you can do it in about 5 minutes, so its not necessary to use the horse.

We booked through Booking.com. From the reviews we survey said this is the best hostel in Sengigi. But very disappointed with the hostel. No towel provided at all even for rented. We have to buy it from the 24hrs mart nearby. Room is clean but the ceiling have watermark stain, got 1 of the corner ceiling was opened up. Locker was provided without padlock. Need to buy by ourselves. Dorm in front of the staircase have 2 bed infected with bed bugs. Their staff know about it and they didn't do anything about this. Just advice us about the bed. They should throw away the bed instead keep it there for so long. Shower tap was quite high for short people. Handbasin with leaking pipe. Your foot will get wet when using it. some of the mattress have a funny sound when slept on it. Quite disturbance when you have a very tiring day. …

Dorms are air conditioned from 10pm-9am and spacious with room for your bags in lockers - bring a padlock. The sheets were not changed though between visits. We watched a guy simply brush the beds, change the blanket and then another guy came on slept on it. Not cool! The breakfast wasn't great either - so it's not a huge plus point that it's included in the 100,000 a night price. The shower area was fine although the water didn't get hot and when you turned on the sink taps water came out of the pipes. The wifi was the best bit about this hostel - very good and I was able to book all my onward flights. I wouldn't stay here again, it's not cheap enough.

Beds are clean and it is a good location however some things let it down. The staff were very pushy when we asked about tour. We felt they were trying to force us to book with this one company instead of giving us the unbiased information we asked for. Showers are not great. Look dirty and very cold. Also hair in sinks which was not cleaned. Breakfast fine but kitchen looked dirty. Would be okay for one night stop over

When we arrived, the staff were mediocre at best. They had no idea about our booking (even though we had paid a deposit ???) and then tried to charge us more than hostel world had agreed. After that show, we were shown to our rooms. To be fair, they weren't horrendous. The bed was comfy and the locker was big enough to put my big bag in. Shame that's where the luxuries ended. The room was BOILING and the staff refused to turn on the air con until after 10pm, it was then promptly shut off again at 9am. The showers were dirty and the water was cold, and for some reason half of the sinks weren't attached to the plumbing underneath, so when you turned a tap on, the water went all over your feet (again.. ????). There are also "fine" notices for if you wash your laundry in their sinks/showers you will be charged 200,000 rupiah. Whilst on the subject of fines, you will also be charged 500,000 rupiah if you bring alcohol into the hostel. Last but not least, we gave in our laundry on the first night. When we eventually got it back, some of our clothes were missing and half of it was still damp. If I were you, I would give it a miss and try some of the home stays.…

After coming back from trekking Mount Rinjani this place is all I ever dreamed of. Good quality air con dorms with a comfy bed, lockers big enough to fit a large backpack (bring your own lock), free breakfast I think an omelette with toast or pancakes. It is located in the city square surrounded by restaurants and travel agencies. Its a good place to meet other backpackers and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The quality of the facilities are much greater then the past reviews make them out to be. All in all I had a great stay.
