This was the second time I have stayed at Ozstay, as its n the main street of Sengiggi close to restaurants and bars. Also bank ATM's and post office are basically across the road and next door so its pretty handy. Beach is a 5 min walk so not to far. The staff where very helpful and friendly always willing to pass on information about tours and local attractions and events even down to where to rent a driver or scooter to get around etc, Rooms where clean and tidy i had a double room as i wanted my own privacy for the couple of days stay. Had to ask the staff for toilet paper as there was none in the bathroom but that was soon fixed.... The guest kitchen is now open if you want to stay in prepare your own meal, and I ate once or twice at the Cafe / Restaurant which wasn't bad. Also they have a Band & Sausage Sizzzle once a week and the bar serves cold beers so its good for just kicking back and chatting to a few local expats that frequent the place. Also Pool table upstairs and the staff are more than up for a game!!! cool bucket system also for ordering your beers downstairs. Also they have a garden area out back for chilling out, could do with a few more plants, and decor etc but was okay for taking it easy in one of the Hammocks. Basically a good central spot and value for money for a hostel. Will definitely recommend and stay again... Thanks

You get what you pay for. Room was run down, facilities are not maintained, staff are usually high and partying or drinking. This place is good if you are just planning to rest before transiting to Gili Islands or Mount Rinjani.

A truly wonderful hostel to stay. Good spacious dorms with aircon, amazing coffee, friendly welcoming staff. The crew is always happy and ready to join you playing Pool and giving advice on possible tours to the surroundings. The best place in Senggigi for backpackers to stay.

We stayed here for one night and is was horrendous. The room was basically left untouched after the last people checked out. First of all, all the sheets were used. There was trash everywhere. The bathroom smelled of piss and was disgustingly dirty, but a paradise for mosquitoes. It says the hostel provides Aircon. It does, but it's not working at all. In a tiny little dorm like this full of mosquitoes we were dripping in sweat and bites. Which is very unpleasant. The two young boys who checked us in were very, very friendly though. I got up very early because sleeping in that hole was not too easy, and the so called security guard was fast asleep. So don't count on that.

Response from Simon M, Public Relations Manager at Ozstay Backpackers Lombok
Responded 30 Aug 2016
I am sadden by your response. Upon investigations it was found that you stayed in Room 6. Which is 150,000 per night. Advised to you at the time. You invited 2 men over to stay that night and didnt not pay for additional guests, as per advisement and internet. The staff always clean rooms before new arrivals and after check out. Previous guests where males and "trash" that was found upon cleaning after your departure were ladies sanitary pads and other rubbish. As secuirty spoke to you about additional payment for "guests" an argument pursed. I would suggest thats why you wrote this unfounded and direct attack on staff professional behaviour. Feedback is always welcome and there is always two signs to the story. Good luck

Basic backpackers haunt made special by the supremely friendly staff (who had good recommendations to give for almost everything). Rooms/dorms are basic as you would expect but made comfortable because of the decent air conditioning in the dorms. Staff was excellent (Wayan and Sofia) and made up for the basic amenities that you would expect for the price that you pay. The decent pool tables and the board games (along with the beer) made up for the hot days when one didn't feel like venturing out in the harsh Lombok sun. Recommended.

Stayed here three nights in a double room. For the price paid, Good location, good breakfast, and clean enough! The lady at the reception did not seem nice in the beginning, but she cooled down after seeing us multiple times. It almost looked like she was watching discovery channel / national geographic all day. Only two things you should keep in mind: - For some strange reason, mosquitos somehow entered the room, despite being locked down during the day when doing day trips. - The double room does not have ensuite bathroom. Instead, there is a shared bathroom (with the dorm) in front of the door. As a result, it can be noisy! We hired a scooter by asking at the reception where to do this. She phoned a guy ( I think about 24 years old) from a stall 50 meters to the right. We did not encounter any problems upon returning the scooter, but do be careful!

Clean rooms with quite comfortable beds. Working AC, which is very nice. Quite small bathroom so the toilet will get wet when you shower. Very accommodative staff working 24/7. Safe place, with safety lockers in the rooms. Only downside is that the WiFi doesn't work in the rooms only in the commonroom. Will defo recommend for budget travellers!

There is no address on their website, no phone number and they won't reply to your emails. There is no way to book a room in advance. I left half way through the night after I found out a member of staff had broken into my locked room when I wasn't there. This wasn't for housekeeping. The dead spider that had been there since I arrived was still laying there on the floor. It actually turns out that he broke into my room because I had the only air-conditioning remote in the entire hotel. Seriously. Those were his own words. And they wonder why this place is empty? Despite charging just Rp150k for a private room?

100,000 idr for a dorm bed is very reasonably priced!! If you are a couple or friends you can get a private room for 200k. We stayed in a double room, everything was clean and aircon worked really well. The bathroom is outside with an adjoining toilet which is fine - for a budget accommodation. No hot water. Wifi is available and big large area to socialise and meet people. Only thing is be prepared to be harassed - what do I mean by this? Everyday the same person or his friend will be asking how you are, what you are upto and then try to sell you a bike, or transport, or sightseeing or organised tours. You can't get away from it. Walk outside the hostel and again everywhere you go is do you want transport or go Rinjani trekking. It was very annoying and even more so as I thought the people running the hostel would understand and leave us along. Got to the point where we just avoided him. Located on the same street as all the restaurants so good location for the beach and shops.

Stayed for one night and would not have stayed longer. Noisy, had a private room but shared bathroom with another room but really anyone was using it. Still give it a 3 because it was clean enough and cheap
