Before I go into the things I didn’t like, let me shed some light on the things I did. For starters, I have to give Kevin a shoutout. Not only was this man the one who took my reservation, but he was also helping out preparing rooms for guests. I had a special request that was supposed to be ready for my check in date, it was forgotten, and when I went to Kevin, he made it happen. So thank you, Kevin for going above and beyond. Also, I like the private bathtubs they have set up. Great romantic atmosphere. Now, let’s get to the issues! Staff The Pandemic is not over. La Jamaca has some clear staffing needs. I commend them for making due with what they have, but over tasking an employee can lead to bad service and delays. Check In I was told that I could come in early, and use the facilities while rooms were getting prepared. Like in any establishment, I presented myself at the front desk and said I was there to check in. Small note: I arrived two hours before the normal check in time. After filling out some paperwork, I was told that the room would be ready momentarily. The truth, the staff was doing all sorts of work and didn’t notice that the key to the room where I was going to stay in was on the counter. Needless to say, we waited and waited until finally we got our room. This was a getaway with my wife and I had asked for them to decorate the room and this was completely forgotten. Restaurant and Bar. The first night there wasn’t great, two big groups and we were told that due to staff shortage it would take at least and hour and a half to get any service. Naturally, we just walked to a Pizza place that is close by. Not a drinker by any sort, but the bar seemed to have all the essentials for a great variety of cocktails. We were able to get a table on our last night there. It was good, not great, just good. Rooms They currently have to different room offerings. Aside from decor the main difference was size. We choose the bigger rooms and it is nice and cozy. The doors on the other hand needed new handles. You had to play with the handle in order to make sure that is was properly locked. The second door that led to the hammock needed a latch for you to close it, because, you guessed it, the handle didn’t work. Other than that, the bed was comfortable, they had a sofa as well, and a decent size TV. Bathroom Nothing special here. When you look closer it seems that some things were just rushed. The water wasn’t that hot which is another let down.…
This is a lovable Tropical Outdoor inn!!! We had dinner and enjoyed to it’s fullness. Nathia rocks !!!! Grate waitress This place dosent look like Puerto Rico. Congratulations!!!!!!!! Outstanding job !!!! Nice swimming pool location. Eye catching decoration.
Seeing all the “excellent” reviews encouraged us to stay here. Excellence is apparently very relative. While La Jamaca has a certain bohemian charm, I was surprised by all the great reviews on various websites. La Jamaca may be great for a backpacker hotel, but at that, it's a little overpriced. Rooms are shabby, small and very basic, but comfortable if you aren't too demanding. Our bathroom was small and the tile grout needed some bleach. The A/C works well. The restaurant has good high calorie food with portions large enough to satisfy big appetites. And it's popular at night with loud music which stopped around ten pm. We reserved two nights but only stayed only one. Life is too short.

Excelente hotel. Great vibe, great pool setting, wonderful staff. Beautifully decorated, modern, very cool rooms. Close to town and has views of the sea. And of course hammocks everywhere. Loved my stay. Highly recommend! The food is great and the menu quite extensive. Free safe parking.
