Stayed at this resort in a jacuzzi villa for a week & it was heaven with beautiful sandy beaches, caves & wildlife galore!

We stayed at the Railay village resort which had a high rating, however during the first part of our stay (3 days) the main pool was out of use for ? Renovation hence pool side spaces by the small pool was limited which was quite frustrating.

The villa that we stayed in was beautifully set out & very spacious. However there seemed to be a lack of attention to detail & a lot of the fixtures & fittings were a little worn & weathered, for example the wood around the sink basin rotten & breaking away at the rear - although perfectly functional a little TLC & upgrade would add to this place.

When we arrived, the electricity for the villa was out & we had to wait briefly for someone to come & resolve the problem. The batteries for all the remotes & safe were dead so we had to report each one as we discovered the faults.

Daily cleaning of the villa was as hit & miss & there didn’t seem to be a set standard. Some days the floors were not swept, some days all towels were replaced despite us leaving them on the rail for reuse as per villa instructions, whilst other days towels removed & not all of them replaced. Used cups & glasses were also left for days until services asked for replacement.

The staff seemed eager to help but overall there seemed to be a language barrier & I’m certain often the staff manning the service desk couldn’t understand what was being said but nodded along anyway which mean having to repeat requests several times before being completed.

Overall our stay was wonderful, breakfast on offer was varied with stunning views from the restaurant. The beaches were surprisingly quiet in the evenings & plenty to explore on the island, with the walking street conveniently adjacent to the resort. Our rating despite the negatives posted, reflects the overall ambience of the place & we would return in a heart beat.

The Pros:
Great location (beachfront/right next to Walking Street)
Pools on site exceeded expectations
Above adequate room/facilities
Breakfast the same as other normal places- decent variety in my opinion
Complimentary drinking water daily
Friendly staff

Cons:
Mattress was like a brick. My husband has had severe neck pain for two days now (and he’s only 28).
We had to lug our suitcases all the way across the island. Would have been nice for resort to provide assistance with that.
WiFi was spotty most of the time.

We were overall pleased with our stay. We do wish that the resort would get different mattresses and upgrade WiFi. Thank you for the great visit!

This lovely resort is set on a beach with a dramatic setting. At either end, there are towering karsts or cliffs that rise vertically out of the ground.
The little beach squeezed in between always has traditional long boats gathered to ferry passengers to and from.
The resort ground itself is well maintained with endless flowers and tropical trees along the 50 odd metre walk to its far end.
The rooms are spacious, clean and modern and if you’re fortunate to have a balcony, you’ll love sitting there in the evening in the cool breeze but beware of the mosquitos!
The service was always quick, polite and helpful although my only criticism is arrival to the resort requires a long boat at the very end which was not communicated by management.
As a result, I found myself stranded at the pier waiting for a boat. I was fortunate when a resort boat arrived with staff members leaving work for the day. I don’t know what I would have done otherwise.
While the hotel may not be the cheapest of the choices available, it is worth every cent considering the attractive grounds and wonderful natural setting.
Another attraction is walking street! It appears to be endless at first but you’ll find every manner of entertainment, restaurant and service required. There are also restaurants along the beach with a breeze and view money can’t buy.
And finally, those sunsets! Spectacular! As the sun’s colours’ soften, the small beach is covered in visitors sitting on beach towels, locals kicking soccer balls and throwing frisbees while the remaining long boats sway gently as the tide returns home. Then suddenly, the heavens turn orange and then pink orange for a few precious moments leaving you in awe at how beautiful this place is.

We stayed here for one night in a "two bedroom" suite and... maybe the resort was booked out and we got the slim pickings, but the setup was really weird and super inconvenient. I could see how it would work for some, so just take this as an informative review and not a bad report! The two bedroom suite was a weird hodge-podge of two rooms that lead into a courtyard, with a weird entry lobby thing. None of the doors locked going into the courtyard which kind of put us on edge. The one room had a toilet, but it took several flushes to get any results. The other bedroom didn't have a toilet at all, rather a room in the courtyard with several "stalls" and two urinals. Like I said, not horrible, but not ideal for the price. Again, for informative purposes only, these are not western beds. I second what other reviewers said when they say they were box springs with a sheet on them. Also, yea, it was pretty grimy. From a distance, the rooms look nice, but once you're in, you start to notice they are pretty filthy.

We stayed for 2 weeks to get away from Bangkok to work remotely. The price is a bit higher than other nearby resorts but it was perfect if you need to really work.

The internet is strong, even through the rain. The staff very accommodating. We were almost the only people in the resort through the whole stay...

The pool may look a bit dirty but surely it's the chemical in it. We swam in it and saw staff taking care of them every morning.

Our room was beautiful with mountain and cliffs view. The water is hot (sometimes too hot) to wash your face.

The bath worked well and the maid cleans room daily and refresh our towels daily as well.

They are understaffed at the moment due to the pandemic... But each and everyone was more than accommodating and welcoming.

Down side? Save your money for breakfast at the walking street next to the resort. The breakfast was very average and the drinking water wasted funny that we had to bring our glass bottled water in room for breakfast.

Spotted loads of wildlife as well! Monkeys, lemurs, many monitor lizards, even hornbills at our balcony! <3

Recommended if you want privacy during low season. Very lush and perfectly located.

Will go back.

I stayed here for three nights and had a wonderful time. I found the previous negative comments largely unfounded.

Stayed in a jacuzzi room which was spacious. Had a great shower which was wonderful after sandy days at the beach. The bed was firm but I slept well on them. There are two swimming pools which are cool and clean, and finding a chair was never a problem.

The location is fantastic. The long tails from Ao Nang/phi phi will literally park you right outside the entrance on Railay West. The resort is right next to the walking street with food and drinking options galore.

The staff were friendly and kind, and eager to help.

Breakfast was fairly standard buffet fare but delicious. I recommend trying the noodle soup.

My only gripe was the noise emanating from the nearby waking street (no fault of the resort). There was some heavy construction during the day, and at night music/karaoke can be heard blasting up to the early morning hours.

The hotel is located right at the front of the beach and it has an amazing sunsets, people usually take advantage of the beautiful view in the evening and you'll see the local and tourist boys playing football together which adds to the vibrant environment.

The location of this hotel is a little tricky to find if you get down in the pier which made us walk around a couple of times especially when it was raining. It is a huge hotel that tucked in on the opposite side of the pier. You may want to check with the locals to avoid too much of walking. It requires long walking even from the room to the lobby. We even encountered monitor lizards a couple of times during our stay. The hotel is right next to the happening street that most of the tourists hang out during their stay.

There are 2 large swimming pools in the property but because the beautiful beach is just at the doorstep of the hotel, you'll notice the pool is empty most of the time. They also have villas and a lovely restaurant facing the beach. The staff in the lobby is helpful and rooms are kept very clean.

We booked railay village over a month ago , when we arrived we were shown our room ( Honeymoon suite) first before we checked in, this seemed strange but later we found out it was to see if we were happy first before we check on.

The room was average / old and smelt damp /and a complete rip off at over $200 Australian dollars.
As we had nowhere to stay and it was late in evening we had no choice to take it, but could not wait to leave next day.

NOTE : the resort has no restaurant currently as the old one is getting renovated ( so they give you vouchers to use a neighbouring hotels facilities .

The pool is cloudy and would not like to swim in it , when I complained about the room they were not very accomodating, especially when we are on honeymoon .

Luckily the hotel next door had availability ( Sand Sea Resort ) and the staff / accomodation / pool / kitchen / wifi were fare superior.

I would steer clear of the Railay Village !

Great place. Location is perfect - literally is right in front of the beach, and right next to the main street of shops, bars and restaurants. The rooms were a good size, with a huge bathroom. We had a room that opened up to the pool. There’s actually 2 pools on the property, but never saw anyone using them as the beautiful beach is right there. I’d read breakfast wasn’t good so we skipped that, but took a look one morning and can confirm it’s not worth it. There’s plenty of nice places to eat within minutes of the resort. Otherwise a good stay!

Located right on the beach front, this resort is quite authentic and feels like luxury camping almost, as each individual villa is surrounded by a pond and plants which are home to many animals such as frogs, geckos and crickets. The room was very clean and mostly well equipped (no hairdryer though). considering the location, housekeeping do a great job keeping insects and lizards out the rooms! It really is an experience to stay at a place like this. The only issue with the room was that the air conditioning control doesn’t work, it was just either on or off so I was unable to change the fan speed to low or put it into night mode to make sleep easier. The mattress was also very firm which may not be to everyone’s taste. As such I have to drop my rating from 5 to 4 stars.

Hi, you need a room facing east to get the afternoon sun ie on the left hand side if you’re standing with your back to the beach. We were on the first floor and it’s reasonably quiet. There aren’t enough sun beds by the rooms but there are others available at the pool near reception which were available ( we were there in February) . There are no sun beds at all on Railay beach.

It depends on low or high tide (time of day). When we went to Railay, it was late afternoon. The water was at my knee level, and my Capri pants got all wet.
