The word ecotourism is described as responsible travel to an exotic natural location intended to support conservation and observe wildlife in its natural habitat with very low impact upon the natural environment. I must take my hat off to Karl Wright and Jenny Nobes as this is exactly what Rhino Safari Camp (RSC) has achieved with little effort over the...

We loved our open room with a fantastic view, animals grazing outside and the romantic shower under the stars. As a vegetarian I was very well (specially) catered for, the service was excellent, the staff delightful - we felt very spoiled! The information imparted by our outstanding guide, Peter, on game drives and walks was far superior to any we...

If you want a truly authentic, 'un-managed' wild-life experience Rhino Safari Camp is perfect. The staff cannot do enough to make your visit both comfortable and exciting. The rooms are well equipped and very comfortable with amazing views. The animals are never far away! Elephants and other wildlife often roam the grounds of the camp so guests are warned to...

This is a rustic camp on the shores of Lake Kariba, owned and hosted by Karl Wright and his wife Jenny. Although Jenny wasn't there during my 5 night stay, both Karl and his step-dad/guide Peter could not have been more friendly and kind. The camp is aging a bit, and the meals are adequate if not inspired, but these...

We spent two nights at Rhino Camp - too few as it turned out! Our speed boat trip across the lake was a little delayed and we were worried that we might not get there that day, but we got there in the end and received a wonderfully warm welcome by the team there with food and drink waiting as...

Following on from my review of Rhino Safari camp (in September last year) I mentioned that this is a place that would keep you coming back and I can very happily back that statement up!! From a two day stay last year I came back for ten days in July this year, and loved every minute of it. Rhino is...

The camp is situated on the shore of Lake Kariba adjacent to Matusadona National Park. It provides stunning sunrise and sunsets over the lake. The camp is relaxed and friendly where flexibility is the norm. The guests really do come first allowing you to set the schedule for game drives and walks. Its difficult to put a label on Rhino,...

Jenny and her team are the perfect hosts. I am from Africa but was stunned by the simple beauty that this camp offers. If you want a bit of the African wild but a hot shower too than this is the perfect place for you. April is a good time of year for weather too

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
An luxury rustic bush camp, situated within the Matusadona National Park on the shorelines of Lake Kariba. Guests are accommodated in seven twin bedded stilted wood and thatch chalets, each with its own en suite open air shower and flush toilet. Each chalet is on the edge of the jesse bush, facing the lake so they benefit from the cooling breeze from the water. It is not uncommon to have the wildlife walking in front and around the rooms, which allows for "close and personal" encounters with the game. Game viewing activities include drives, walks and tracking, and sunset cruises all in the company of a professional guide. For those guests who like to drop a line in the water, we also offer fishing for bream and the world renowned tiger fish, and Elephant Point is regarded as an excellent area to fish in. The Matusadona National Park is home to the Big Five, being lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard and the endangered black rhino as well as a host of smaller plains game and over 350 species of birds recorded in the area, making it a birders paradise. Rhino Safari Camp can be accessed by speed boat transfer from Kariba or from the nearby Kiplings/Rhokari and Bumi Hills airstrips. Meals are homestyle and freshly prepared at camp and meal times revolve around the game viewing needs of our guests. The guides and camp manager/owner host guests and offer them a relaxed homely environment in which to enjoy the peace and tranquility of the wilderness of the Matusadona National Park. We look forward to your visit....NO FENCES - PURE NATURE ... more   less
