Rhino Safari was everything I had expected from my first ever safari - and more. Lots of animals, star guide Peter, my best sleeps in the hut, delicious food and drinks, extremely friendly local staff, battered Land-Rover, difficult terrain, exciting moments. Maybe not for young kids but definitively for childish adults.

My wife and I recently returned to Rhino Safari Camp for a three night stay. We returned because we loved our first visit and we now know that we will keep returning. Our room (rustic, stilted, private, thatched with the sky for a bathroom ceiling) blended perfectly with the surroundings, and we watched the sun rise from the comfort of...

I've lived in Zimbabwe for five months and already been to Rhino camp twice... It is hands down one of the most magical places on earth. It's hard to put your finger on what it is about Rhino that captures your heart... Is it the beautiful rustic rooms on stilts? The stunning views of the sparkling lake? The elephants who...

After a five hour drive from Harare and a private 1.5 hour boat ride to Muuyu Island with our host Jenny, our party of 4 arrived at Rhino Safari Camp for a 3 day 2 night stay. We booked last minute on a recommendation and were accommodated as if we had booked weeks in advance. We were the only guests...

I stayed at Rhino Safari Camp last week on a trip to Matusadona National Park. The Safari Camp is situated in its own beautiful concession on an island / peninsula in the Matusadona NP. There were elephant around camp every day and we were treated to stunning sunsets with the elephant every evening. The camp itself fits in with its...

For me Rhinocamp is the best place to be in Zimbabwe. The wooden houses are perfectly camouflaged in the landscape, the elephants are rubbing their skin on the polls of the houses. Staff is friendly and caretaking. I don't need air-conditioned rooms and tv in a safari camp. Thumbs up for Rhinocamp!

Loved our room and the view, also the open air .. slept so well, very comfortable. The guide was entertaining and very knowledgeable and even caught some fish on our evening boat ride. Food was excellent as was the company in the evenings, all in all a very special place that shows an unspoilt part of Africa. We never felt...

The room was great. Open to the cool breezes coming off the lake. Lying there just listening to the sounds of the african night was amazing. Open air shower and toilet fantastic! If you are looking for a great close to africa experience this is it.

Wake up with an unobstructed view of the sun rising above Lake Kariba. The hosts Jenny and Carl were wonderful and they provided us with great accommodation and fantastic food. Our guide Steve was fantastic and very knowledgeable. Great activities such as boat cruises, game drives and game tracking. Beautiful surroundings and very quite: back to nature

Is luxury and rustic all in one. No electricity so don't expect air-conditioning but you are in the African bush. The animals are not tame and the experiences are always going to be unique. You cannot ask for a better spot to experience Africa be it as an international or a local looking for a getaway. Its worth the time...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
An luxury rustic bush camp, situated within the Matusadona National Park on the shorelines of Lake Kariba. Guests are accommodated in seven twin bedded stilted wood and thatch chalets, each with its own en suite open air shower and flush toilet. Each chalet is on the edge of the jesse bush, facing the lake so they benefit from the cooling breeze from the water. It is not uncommon to have the wildlife walking in front and around the rooms, which allows for "close and personal" encounters with the game. Game viewing activities include drives, walks and tracking, and sunset cruises all in the company of a professional guide. For those guests who like to drop a line in the water, we also offer fishing for bream and the world renowned tiger fish, and Elephant Point is regarded as an excellent area to fish in. The Matusadona National Park is home to the Big Five, being lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard and the endangered black rhino as well as a host of smaller plains game and over 350 species of birds recorded in the area, making it a birders paradise. Rhino Safari Camp can be accessed by speed boat transfer from Kariba or from the nearby Kiplings/Rhokari and Bumi Hills airstrips. Meals are homestyle and freshly prepared at camp and meal times revolve around the game viewing needs of our guests. The guides and camp manager/owner host guests and offer them a relaxed homely environment in which to enjoy the peace and tranquility of the wilderness of the Matusadona National Park. We look forward to your visit....NO FENCES - PURE NATURE ... more   less
