Detailed Reviews
Friendly receptionist welcomed us in at this old-worldy feel campsite. Good sized pitches & very quiet. Bathroom/ shower facilities a bit dated, but a big & light kitchen & outdoor seating area. No local shops, pubs or evening cafes in South Brighton, but had a lovely windy & unspoilt beach 400m away from site & a nearby wild bird nature reserve/wetland at Pleasant Point.

Lovely, clean, hot showers. Location is lovely, short 5 minute walk and you're on the beach, quiet little town area. Not Christchurch central but only 20min drive.
Staff very friendly and helpful, the office sells some food but the closest shop/supermarket is 3km. Site was nice, play area for kids and seemed quite big, we only stayed one night at the beginning of our trip so didn't really explore the camp, our pitch was a little small but we could plug in the van and use the facilities so all good! One of the cheaper sites we stayed at - good value for money.

15 min from the town, 300 meters to the beach, this is the perfect place to come with you van, your tent and have a nice stay. Under 17 dollars per night, its a very good address, quiet and peaceful, out but close to the busy city.. People at the reception was very nice ! Perfect !

The location is good, and it's very clean, BUT some of the staff - t walk around looking like thunder, really surly. I couldn't find a water tap because there are so few of them. The permanent people have all had to buy their own hoses to get water, and 1 tap serves a whole lot of people.
The greywater dump is hidden by a caravan, which you have to go around to dump.
I don't recommend this place at all. The energy was very bad,

This could be a really nice park if it was well maintained and the shower/toilet block ripped down and rebuilt. Showers are strong and hot but revolting floors and rotting benches to put your clothes on. The kids playground is full of weeds, rusting and falling apart. Camp kitchen is well equipped, no TV. Park is mostly permanent residents who are friendly and look after their sites well. In retrospect, we would've preferred to stay at the Top 10 a few minutes up the road where you're guaranteed modern facilities and a well looked after park.

The grounds are large and well planted, but the facilities are at the front of the camp ground. It's a long walk to the toilet/shower. There is mould on the ceiling in the ablution block. The shower has no place to put your soap. You have to hold the flush button on the toilet to flush properly. The sites are unclear/ not marked out.

Portaloo's and flooded caravan park . To get to the portable toilets and shower, be prepared to get your feet stuck in the mud if it's raining . Seriously- the quality of NZ holiday parks was exceptional until now . Portaloo's - really ?!!! Don't bother .

We choose this holiday park to stay as it was convneniant to where our Grandchildren live and stayed for 7 nights. What an amazing surprise we had for South Brighton. The shower facilities could do with repainting but were very clean and the showers have no charge and have great water pressure. The kitchen facilities were appropriate for a camp ground though we cooked in our caravan but did our dishes there and were more than happy with it. After an initial error with our booking the new owners and their extended family were over and beyond helpful and quick to make things right. The husband and wife team have taken on a big challenge to get this camping ground back after issues with the city council wanting it shut down. They are doing an outstanding job and offer an awesome area for the children, beautiful walks around the estuary, close to the beach and a very clean camping ground. Over all I rate them very high based on our experience and the genuine niceness of all the owners. They deserve support by camping here as they are trying so hard to improve it/extend and bring people back to that side of town since the earthquakes. We will definatly be returning for weekends away. Kudos to the owners and all the friendly staff including the Groundsman and the nice young lady that did the shower/facility cleaning. There are some permanent people that live there and we chatted to a few and they were lovely and had amazing stories and willing to chat away. The permanants pretty much keep to themselves and almost make you envious of the lifestyle of living in a camping ground.
Highly recommend the walk around the Estuary which is easy access from in the Camp Ground :-)

The owner is very arrogant and rude. The so called free wifi is very limited and when it runs out he tries to sell you more at $1 per 500mb. The toilets and showers are few and dirty. Lots of permanent nutters living there. Some of the grounds are semi flooded during rain. You are better to freedom camp. Avoid.

I found the campsite very overpriced for the standard of facilities and it's cleanliness. Although the lady who checked me in was very friendly and helpful.
I was very confused as to why only one sink in the gents and only 2 toilets. The site was quite busy which I ended up waiting for everyone to finish. By sheer luck I had a view of the toilets.
The showers are individual outside cubical. They were not clean through out my stay and the floors flooded.
When it rains you get your own shower while awaiting for a free cubical as there is no shelter to queue under. Yes ladies, you do take a long time in the showers, I witnessed it. Lol.
Due to the poor standard of facilities and tariff , I will not be returning to this campsite.
