My wife and I had lunch here today for our 34th wedding anniversary , all three courses very nice, onion rings and the rib eye highly recommended. Good choice of Hooky beers which kept me happy, and the apple and rhubarb crumble was also very nice, all staff very friendly and attentive. Not overpriced, and we would visit again.

Stayed one Thursday night en route to Kent from the North West. Takes a while to absorb all the quaint, quirky decor. Pub closes from 3.0pm to early evening but once having checked in, one has a key to the front door to allow access. Bedroom overlooking main road was on the small side, the double bed dominating the room....

Absolutely lovely food, great service and generally a very good ambience. We arrived at short notice and they had a big group in but looked after us very well and we had a quiet area of the pub to sit in. I will definitely be going back again soon....

We attended the village car show at Sulgrave Manor and decided to have a walk around the lovely village. Saw the pub as we drove through and thought it looked very nice. As you enter the pub there are pictures china and furniture for sale and lovely quotes on the walls, very quirky, loved the homely feel. Lots of rooms...

We were in the area to view some furniture at a private property. The owner recommended we make use of the trip to Sulgrave and go and visit Sulgrave Manor and to maybe have a pint in the local pub. It was a beautiful sunny Saturday so we did as we were told. The manor is very nice, was home...

My wife and I stayed on a Tuesday night and luckily the weather was superb which made the Star and the village even more beautiful. The owners are lovely and the food was superb. Breakfast is cooked in a lovely room to the rear of the pub on a range which meant that we could have a chat with the...

Fantastic food, fast service. Paul was great to us and we will 100% be coming back. They have a massive garden and there are 100s of acres to explore in the village of Sulgrave. The rooms are cosy and warm and there is wifi in case anyone is worried about being shut off.

Really nice owners, who have run this place for around 30 years. Some quirky décor touches, good selection of ales and superb food. Welcomed with tea and coffee on arrival, helpful and attentive hosts, a great place to stay for a night or two, as an excellent value B&B and restaurant

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The three hundred year old 'Star Inn' sits in an idyllic village on the borders of South Northamptonshire and Oxfordshire, ideally located for visiting the many attractions available in the heart of England or simply escaping for a peaceful and relaxing weekend in the country. Believed to be the only know pub to be visited by the legendary actor John Wayne whilst on tour of nearby Sulgrave Manor, the ancestral home of the first president of the United States George Washington. On a visit to Sulgrave in 1889 the honourable William Taft, Chief Justice of America said, "Sulgrave is a charming little spot only hidden in the loveliness of its seclusion, with the old Star inn by the roadside a relic of bygone days when comforts were plain and ale was plenty." The Star is where people matter and whether you are staying in one of our comfortable en-suite bedrooms, dining in the oak beamed restaurant or just having a drink you will be made to feel welcome by all the staff who will ensure your time with us is enjoyable. Gillie and Barry welcome friends old and new. ... more   less
