Detailed Reviews
Great food and a very friendly atmosphere although the noise from the television was very loud. However, we were made to feel very welcome and it had the feeling of a typical village pub. The menu is varied and the prices were very reasonable.

We stayed at the Duke of Cumberland for my mother's wake. Hatty and her family went out of their way to make sure the day as well as the rest of our stay was amazing. Anything we needed they were there for us.
All 3 of our rooms were comfortable and available whenever we needed them.
Just as I was about to leave on Sunday evening I found my tire was flat. It took 4 hrs to get fixed and Hatty sacrificed her dinner and closing up to make sure we were warm and comfortable until it was repaired.
My mum would be proud! Thanks Hatty

The food is really tasty and there is plenty of it. It's a good value pub with a nice and relaxed atmosphere. Staff are accommodating and the other customers/locals are always very friendly. The garden area is a decent size and great for children.

Popped in as last minute decision. Really friendly service, very attentive, helpful, moved us to a prime table next to the fire when it became free! Outstanding food. We weren’t rushed. Welcoming and lovely atmosphere. Would highly recommend.

We were visiting Canterbury and staying near Barham. The Duke of Cumberland was welcoming, friendly - nothing too much trouble - most of all the food was superb! We were a party of ten and nothing was too much trouble. We had planned to visit another restaurant the next night but changed our plans and booked again for the Duke of Cumberland as it satisfied everyone in our party from thirteen to eighty eight! Thank you to the staff for such wonderful food - a Turkish themed menu but still old favourites like burgers and fish and chips. Amazing.

My first visit to my new local pub. Treat for parents and wow was absolutely fantastic. Best steak I’ve had. Dad is fussy and not a complaint!! Hatty very friendly and welcoming. Good job done by all of you... fantastic place, perfect food in a traditional Inn. We will be back x

I booked this pub for an overnight stay prior to a friend's wedding in Canterbury. The pub is located in a beautiful Kent village just outside of Canterbury. Was made to feel very welcome from the minute I arrived - the family who own this place are extremely hospitable and nothing was too much trouble. The room was clean and comfortable and away from the bustle of the bar. Food was excellent in the evening and the included in the room cost breakfast in the morning was extremely filling. The only thing that stops me giving it 5 stars is the relatively early check out time of 10:00 compared to chain hotels but then I am a fussy so and so!

Me and partner travelled from London to visit family in Barham and stayed here.
We arrived on Sunday and had a fantastic roast dinner with all the trimmings. Food was perfect. We stayed in the gold room with was beautiful and so very comfy. Had a great nights sleep. Breakfast was included and was lovely - a full English with toast etc. The staff were all really friendly and helpful and would definitely stay here again.

+1
I was shown to my room #3, it was about six feet away from a rear fire exit and entrance,
to were people sat and smoked the cigarettes all night.
So as my window in my room was open due to it being rather hot that day,i got a constant waft of fag smoke blowing under my door and out my window.
The food was just about edible, the wifi and the phone signal is no existent.
The noise from my fag chuffing neighbours was abysmal.
I didn't bother to stay for breakfast as the evening meal was bad enough.
The worst thing about the stay was the fact that i cut my foot on the bathroom floor tiles, as all of the tiles in the bathroom were cracked and sticking up (see photos).
The wall tiles were covered in a fine white powder and there was a nice cobweb in the corner behind the toilet, so not sure when it was last cleaned.
PLEASE FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE TO STAY
