We booked a table in advance for 12.00 midday as we had a family funeral to attend and we were told that there were two takeaways before us and they did not have time to get us a meal. We had to leave in 45 mins and so we asked for a mezze and some soup, but they had no time to do that either. We ended up with crisps and coffee and a cracker and cheese thing from behind the bar. It was a big day for my husband as his Mother had passed and he was naturally angry after travelling 3 hours in the car and no food before the service. The two take away people were still waiting for their food at 12. 45pm when we had to leave! Perhaps we were small fry on this occasion and they couldn't be bothered, that is how it felt. Sorry to leave a bad review on this occasion.
We held my the wake of my father on the 13th June and i couldn't fault the food and service. Hatty was extremely friendly and helpful from the initial enquiry. Hatty offered me a variety of food to suit everyone and as I am no longer local to the area this gave me the reinsurance at a difficult time. On the day everything was well organised and the buffet was fresh and plentiful. The fresh cream victoria sponge was a hit.... A big thankyou to Hatty and the team for a successful afternoon. I would highly recommend The Duke of Cumberland. Thank you so much .
Highly recommended! We received wonderful welcome, friendly, cozy and comfortable. Also the menu is diverse enough for most tastes and it is beautifully freshly cooked; you are made to feel you are special.
Took my 4yr old son to this establishment this afternoon and must say very impressed .The scene was lovely the food was absolutely amazing and the staff and management were very very polite and friendly, will definitely be coming back ,a nice hidden gem highly recommended thankyou
We had a wake here last week and we received wonderful service and hospitality. It was the perfect setting and the buffet was fabulous. Thank you very much to Hatty and Zaf for your hospitality and kindness.
My first visit to my new local pub. Treat for parents and wow was absolutely fantastic. Best steak I’ve had. Dad is fussy and not a complaint!! Hatty very friendly and welcoming. Good job done by all of you... fantastic place, perfect food in a traditional Inn. We will be back x
Great food and a very friendly atmosphere although the noise from the television was very loud. However, we were made to feel very welcome and it had the feeling of a typical village pub. The menu is varied and the prices were very reasonable.
We ate here twice as the food was good on our first visit. I had chicken fillet and dauphinois potatoes which was well cooked and delicious. The bbq ribs were good and lots of chips and coleslaw. We struggled to eat it all. We had Lamb kebab as a starter and it was tender and delicious. Friendly Landlady and relaxed ambience.
Love this place even more since the black ceiling has gone from the bar! (New decor!). Changed hands since May but a great welcome and if you're in the bar on Sunday afternoon, loads of roast potatoes to graze on whilst having a pint. Rooms are clean, compact and welll laid out.
A great little gem. The food here is amazing and the room was perfect. The themed night and live band really topped off our time here. Breakfast was amazing and everything cooked to order a really good find.
