Visiting my son at Canterbury Uni for a weekend and stayed at the country gem. This a beautiful traditional property with a quaint country house feel to it and lovely grounds. Kevin the Manager and staff were super friendly and helpful. Great breakfast too! Fantastic location with a really nice friendly hotel bar. Good parking and good location.
Stayed here for a night whilst attending a ‘do’. From start to finish the experience was excellent. The room was lovely and spacious, clean and with a lovely view of the gardens. The bar and restaurant were superb, breakfast was lovely and the waiting staff were excellent. In the evening we had a 3 course meal and all was super, really tasty and perfect sized portions. All the staff we came across were excellent, really polite and friendly and couldn’t have done more. Great place to stay and would recommend to anyone.
Had a Masonic Ladies' Night at this hotel. Managers Muriel & Kevin organised everything for us meeting our every need. Food was excellent and staff very helpful and attentive in every detail. All persons attending function were very impressed and complimented me with location I had chosen. We'll done all. Would highly recommend this hotel.
Stayed here for one night on a very good rate which included breakfast. The room was ok,some parts of the hotel smelt a bit musky but thats almost normal for a lot of these type hotels, part of the charm. The food at dinner was ok nothing special.I had the scampi which was fine but my wife had the Mushroom risotto and said it was very bland, not much taste.I had the Lemon merinque for dessert which was nice, but my wife had the Syrup sponge with custard and said the custard was luke warm but the sponge was still frozen in the middle so couldnt eat it.To be fair the waiter took the desserts off the bill at the end.Not hes fault but the chef for not using the heat temperature probe to make sure it was heated properly.Would i stay here again, probably, but not sure the wife would. Also fantastic breakfast in the morning.I think the manager/owner,dont know hes name but he is from Malta, must be a nice person to work for because 2 of the staff i saw seemed happy working there, always smiling.…
Stayed here as have stayed before and liked the hotel. First room had a water temperature. Moved rooms speedily by the man on reception. Sadly, the water temp was not warm in there either. Would hate to see your review score dip over this. Hope you get it sorted soon. Beautiful roast dinner and service. Room was lovely, apart from warm bath 😳
We visited for a meal for Valentine’s Day, 2 years after we got married here! we love coming back, the staff still recognised us and nothing is too much trouble! Kevin is great and we both looked Foward to seeing him. He is a very hard worker and Howfield Manor are lucky to have him work for them. Would definitely recommend!
My wife and I stayed here for one night before we travelled on the Eurotunnel to Bruges the next day. The hotel is a lovely old building and we were welcomed in by the reception staff as soon as we entered the building. Our room had everything we needed and was comfortable. A very nice view out from the window to the greenery outside. We ate in the restaurant that evening and the food was presented to us in a timely manner and was very tasty. Checkout the following morning was easy and we were wished a pleasant holiday by the staff there. Would we stay there again? Yes we would. Definitely. Thanks to all the staff there
Popped in for Sunday roast, what a lovely place to go, staff are very lovely and couldn't do enough to help and make sure everything was ok, and as for the food wow what great roast it was, must visit again soon might even try the afternoon tea because that looked amazing to.
We stayed for 5 days. The room was clean and comfortable and easily accessible. We ate in the restaurant each day - breakfast and dinner. Breakfast was cooked individually and care was taken to ensure my food allergy was catered for. Similarly at dinner. Service everywhere in the hotel was excellent. … everyone friendly and approachable. The hotel is located about a mile from the Park and Ride for Canterbury so very convenient. Lots of places are within 40/45 minutes drive. Can recommend Biggin Hill if you are interested in WW2. Can recommend.
We were just in Kent for two days, to meet some friends, and some sightseeing, we were surprised to realised we have actually stayed here once before, some years ago, we did't realise when we booked. We were greeted by a friendly, efficient, receptionist. A good start, we had a nice room, in fact the only thing not perfect was that the bed was too short for my husband, his feet were hanging over the end of the bed. We had intended going out for a meal, but were tired after a hectic day, so decided to try the hotel restaurant. Great decision. the waiter serving was calm, friendly and correct. some places the waiter rush around, but here it was so calm and relaxed, but always correct, t just felt right. The dinner was excellent, my husband had steak and I had the gnocchi. We were really too full for dessert, but having looked at the menu we just couldn't resist the sticky toffee pudding. It was wonderful. Breakfast the next morning, full English, of course, was cooked to perfection, everything was as it should be and more. Very handy location for visiting the beautiful village of Chilham, and Canterbury, and for returning to Folkstone to take the shuttle and head for home. I would really recommend this hotel, and will certainly stay there again.…
