My partner and I could only stay a night, wished it could have been more. Ideal location, not far away from shops and Cathedral, nice, quiet location if you want to veer away from the noise. Lovely and clean, and was made to feel so welcome. A good breakfast to finish off. Will definitely return during our next visit.

Stayed for a family party. Room was clean, bed was comfortable and a hearty breakfast was offered in the morning. The owners are eager to please (this can sometimes be overwhelming) We came in late and there was no issue. There is a bar but it's limited.

My aunt and I stayed there for a night in August 2013 (sorry I had to choose August 2015, the system can't track back to 2013!). The place is absolutely lovely and the Santa-Claus looking owner is such a nice, warm and welcoming person. I had a kind of "chocolate box" room, which was great as I hate spaced rooms,...

I stayed here for one night in August. Was attending a training day at nearby Godmersham so the location attracted me as it was only 5 minutes away by car. The owners do offer to give lifts to students attending the ABDO college. My room was lovely, had everything you need including a hairdryer which I'm not sure was listed...

Stayed for one night for a family wedding in chilham. We were give a warm welcome and nothing was too much for them. We arrived at midday and was just expecting to collect the key but our room was ready and they were happy for us to use it, which was a bonus as it was an early wedding. I...

We had a lovely short break exploring Kent, using The Alma as our base. This is situated in an ideal spot for getting to Canterbury, Rye, Margate, and all the National Trust places nearby. We were made to feel very welcome and the breakfasts were second to none, meaning we could miss out on lunch. Double room was very cosy,...

Be aware when booking. The Old Alma refused to return our deposit (£15!!!) for a booking made 3 months in advance and canceled within 2 hours claiming they had turned away other bookings, and this despite area awash with weddings on weekend in question - speaks volumes re integrity! I emailed owners suggesting £15 could not possibly be worthy of...

I was in the area on business and time was ticking for my business appointment when I arrived, so I wasn't really my chatty self wanting to get to my room and get changed pronto. My urgency wasn't really detected by the owner who enjoys a good long chat, something which I valued much more when I returned later and...

My wife and I stayed here in July. The bedroom was very comfortable and we were well fed at breakfast time. Paul and Jenny made every effort to make us welcome and gave us information about local pubs and visitor attractions. If we were in the area in the future we should certainly wish to stay here again.

My husband and I stayed at the Old Alma following a friends recommendation as we were going to a wedding nearby. Paul and Jenny made us instantly feel at home. Our room was lovely, shower room made good use of the space and breakfast was amazing! The best bacon and eggs I've ever had! We will definitely find an excuse...
