We went for lunch (three of us). I found the menu not very exciting, but the food was of excellent quality and cooked to perfection. The venue was very nicely set out with very friendly welcoming staff.

Absolutely first class! Two day seminar with a dozen delegates. All made very welcome. Excellent food and really comfortable rooms. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. A real find! Off the beaten track. Quiet yet always busy. Definitely use again as a seminar/workshop venue.

A friendly establishment with excellent rooms and meals. Out of the way in the village of Stanton Wick, a secure car park available for residents. Lovely dining room and bar with a warm atmosphere. All staff were helpful and went out of there way to help. I asked for an early breakfast which was no problem. Only negative comment was... More

Stayed 2 nights as part of arrangement with Vale House Kitchen for shooting and cookery class. A lovely warming log fire and great atmosphere in the bar and restaurant areas with lots of areas to hide away and relax. We had dinner in the restaurant one night in the private room which was great quality and huge portions. Breakfast (full... More

I really liked this little hidden Gem! The service was excellent and the pub is very clean with a contemporary room style. We had the Attic room which was nice maybe a little too small but really homely and comfortable. It even had a real cafeteria in the room which you normally don't even get in 5 star hotels. The... Walked out to this one on Saturday a hike of 7.5 miles and had a wonderful evening and lovely food. We stayed a fair few hours and the staff were always attentive and friendly. Recommend you book a taxi before for the journey home if you intend to walk out as we did.

We have eaten here in the evening on several occasions and have always been very happy with our delicious meals, beautifully cooked and very tasty. The only downside can be the lighting in the restaurant which depending on the table can be very poorly illuminated. Dimmish wall lights and candles often mean it's not easy to read the menu or... I booked The Carpenters Arms as was attending a dinner at the very plush, sparkly new Pig near Bath. (I couldn't afford their room rates!). But so glad I stumbled across this place - it was exceptionally good value, friendly, efficient - a really good overnight stop that i wouldn't hesitate to recommend and stay at again. And only 5...
