Detailed Reviews
I stayed overnight in Khao Sok so that I could take the local 9am minivan service to Ban Ta Khun (62kms) where I waited for the local minivan service that ends at Ratchaprapha pier. Though I would recommend staying overnight somewhere at Ban Ta Khun given you have to meet the 11.30am longtail boat included in the price. At the pier area I eventually made contact with a staff person who gave me a check in form to fill out while she took my passport and 320 baht off to pay the 300 baht national park fee and 20 baht municipal fee. Myself and a Thai group then set off for the resort.
Arriving at the resort a welcome drink was provided. Staff member Apple explained to me about the electric situation, meals and complimentary boat trips.
I stayed in a double budget room above the main building for 1 night. My room had 2 large comfortable beds with clean linens so I had 2 fans which could be used at any time. I did have a problem with the aircon not turning on and no remote for the tv cable box. I reported downstairs and both issues were rectified within minutes.
The price included 2 complimentary boat rides. The 5pm ride only lasted 15 minutes as rain was looming. The 6.30am ride provided views among the karsts as the sun rose.
Dinner was a set menu. Even though I was solo I'm sure I was given the meal for two. I could only eat the massaman curry, rice and the fish. Breakfast was a buffet good for both Thai and foreigner.
As to the price you have to decide for yourself. I travel solo and this was by far the most expensive bed I've ever paid for in Thailand. There are cheaper options around the lake but from reading all the positive reviews I decided as I was only going to visit one time, to pay the big bucks and stay at Paravanee. I can say it is well organised and provides a comfortable and unique experience.
Special thanks to Apple who kept me informed of everything in english as everyone else was Thai as well as organising my transport from the pier to Khao Lak.

My friends and I (8 of us) stayed at Panvaree the Greenery for 2 nights. We wanted to get away from all the hustle and bustle of city life. If you want to cut off from the social world and just stay put to do some reading and relaxation, this is the place to be. Panvaree the Greenery is located at Khao Sok National Park or to be more specific, Chiewlarn Dam. Located in the national park, we were surrounded by mountains and water. Our accommodation floats on water and you can feel the shake when a long tail boat passes by. It rained most of the time when we were there and wasn't able to see the sunrise other than the mist. Wifi is available at the lobby but signal is very weak because of the location we are at and the bad weather made it worse. Without Wifi, we were disconnected from the world and spent most of our time taking part in water activities or reading. You could swim or go kayaking and are required to put on a life jacket whenever you play with water. During our stay, the resort provides 3 meals a day. Other than the meals (local Southern Thai food), the resort arranged our transportation from the airport to the pier and from the pier to the resort and vice versa. On the day we arrived and after check-in, we were served with lunch. In the evening, the resort arranged a cruise on Chiewlarn Dam using their longtail boat. The next morning, we were brought to see the sunrise but due to the rain, we could only go cruising in our raincoat which was provided by the resort. Throughout our stay, we were connected to the beautiful nature of the dam. It was really peaceful, quiet and got to breath on fresh air. It is just a place to get lazy and do nothing.

This lodge is in a pristine location, floating (literally) on a lake within Khao Sok National Park. The scenery is spectacular from the aqua-green water to the towering cliffs emerging at the side of the lake.
It's very basic, which maybe is not a surprise for this location. The rooms are tiny, our bags barely fit around the bed, have a combined showerroom/bathroom (like you might find on a boat) and have a small deck overlooking the lake. The rooms are very close together and you'll hear your neighbors watching TV.
The food is great, truly authentic thai as that was the clientele. This was one of the few places that didn't have a western breakfast (just scrambled eggs and cereal).
The service was the main thing that was lacking. The staff barely spoke enough English to get buy and were often watching video on their phones with the volume on! Upon arrival their was a candle in the bathroom to keep bugs out. This wasn't replaced so on night 2 it was filled with bugs.
Next time I'd stay for only 1 night.

We arrived at the Pier, the staff to meet us to take us to the “resort” was wearing ordinary street clothes, no uniform or sign to make her identifiable. In fact she was in a nearby coffee shop having coffee!!. We were loaded onto a long tail boat, which was 30 minutes late leaving, and took a 45 minutes to the “resort”. No welcome at all, after waiting in a line to check in we were offered watered down orange juice as a welcome drink, no cold towel as stipulated on the “resorts” information. The reception was by the restaurant/shop. The restaurant was full of day trippers all eating in the very compact restaurant. Food was mediocre at best. The room was infested with ants and the outside bathroom was very dated, the shower faucet was broken and the sink was loose. The room itself was reasonably clean, but was over shadowed by the dirty black marks on most of the walls. The furniture is very very dated and the whole “resort” needs a good overhaul. As a boat owner I am shocked at the safety standards at this “resort”. The walkways, which are planks of wood are loose and it’s very unstable under foot, if nothing else the “resort” should repair these as a matter of urgency. If you are expecting a Luxury Resort as I was for the cost, forget it. We booked a 2 night 3 days package and we left after 1 night it was so bad. My expectations of this place were shattered, so if you do go decide to visit this “resort” please don’t expect Luxury, you will not find it here.

In the past, the area of Ratchaprapa Dam Pier was the area of the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation. Belonging to the government, so we are not allowed to have a private building, but on 1 March 2020, we have been allocated as a meeting point, currently under construction, officials and the decoration of the boat, we will try to show the style of Dress like no other Various symbols for easy communication and the first reception at the harbor area is quite limited due to lack of privacy.Paft check-in services will begin when you board the boat and provide towels and welcome drinks. We will gather information for future improvements. Sorry if it may make you feel unsafe and unwell on your vacation.

$$$ Money is clearly the driving motivator for this owner, she doesn’t care about the satisfaction of guests. We witnessed two sets of dissatisfied guests complain and the owner/manger would send out her employees to deal with the situation. When the situation was not resolved, she would finally appear- She and the employees argued back at the customers blaming them for the situation. They were placed in rooms without any electricity/AC. It was shocking and distasteful.
Also because we regrettably stayed two nights we witnessed groups of people with outside tour companies come onto the barge and use the facilities. They are served lunch before the guest staying there are! Owners time things so guests who are staying with them arrive after the tour groups leave- you are forced to sit and wait at the pier for at least an hour until the tour groups have left. Of course we weren’t aware of why we were forced to wait so long at the pier until after we witnessed this on our second day. You won’t arrive to the hotel until much later than what you were told.
They nickel and dime you for every little thing even though you’re playing $350 USD/night. Staff told us the price of one drink then at check out they had increased that price. They lie and argue with guests. Very deceptive crew- clear example, I asked for original copy of passport and they tried to make a copy of that copy and give it to me instead.

I was really surprised reading the bad reviews and thankfully disregarded them and booked and was so glad I did. The resort is stunning. If you pick the all inclusive package it includes boat transfers, all food and two activities. One of which is an evening boat trip and the lovely lady from the resort comes along and takes amazing pics. Think insta dream, so ladies wear something nice for the evening boat trip!!
The food was lovely, I'm a vegetarian and they catered for me very well. You can eat as much as you like.
The bungalows are stunning, I think some of the reviewers were expecting 5 star luxury, but it's worth remembering it is a floating lake cabin. They are clean and spacious with your own bathroom and deck to jump off into the sea. The views are mind-blowing. The bed is a large king and the bedding lovely. They have electricity and the AC can be switched on from 5pm.
The next morning they have a boat ride but the best part for me was seeing the lake at 6am it was so beautiful.
As other reviewers have noted it is an early check out, but that's part of the package they need to get ready for the next guests.
I can highly recommend a visit, the lake and scenery are truly stunning and staying in a floating cabin is pretty magical. I thought the staff were lovely and friendly. It's not 5 star for sure, but Google the other lake accommodate and I think you will see this is the best option. Book a trip you won't regret it!

It's sometimes hard for places like this to live up to the photos you see online, but this place did not disappoint. The floating bungalows are just as pictured in the idyllic setting on Cheow Lan Lake in Khao Sok NP. Our family bungalow had an upstairs room for the kids and another bedroom and bath downstairs, with the hammock and deck just off that. Staff was lovely, professional and helpful at every minute. The included boat tours were the perfect way to see Khao Sok. For the 1 night package they really have the itinerary set perfectly to relax, eat, and see the lake. The biggest surprise however was how delicious every single dish we were fed here was. We obviously didn't come here for the food, but had here some of the best food in Thailand outside of Bangkok, in a lovely communal restaurant/lounge setting. We also appreciated their eco-measures which include that there is no wifi in the bungalows (there is in the restaurant lounge) and there is only electricity/AC in the evenings. They had rafts and floats and kayaks you can take right off your front porch. The only part that was not perfect was that, understandably, the water right near the bungalows where you swim, while gorgeous aqua color, was not so clean for swimming, being right at the hotel. It would have been really nice to be able to swim off the boat in the crystal clear waters we saw elsewhere in the lake. Also and surprisingly there were no bugs! The staff was very helpful in pre-trip emails and planning and arranged very reliable transportation for us to and from the pier. Guests staying more than one night get to do some hikes in the park which sounds nice, the one night package is boat tours only. Highly recommend!

This hotel could be something really special. The hotel itself is very comfortable and well maintained and is in a beautiful location on Cheow Lan lake in Khao Sok National Park. The staff is kind and they are trying really hard to help you enjoy your stay. They just need to get it together as far as organization. The food is really NOT good by Thai standards and is a set menu. It seems they are trying to be too authentic or fancy instead of just doing westernized Thai food in a buffet of some sort. The tours are not good either and weirdly named. On the morning "Animal" tour, not one animal was pointed out. On the evening "Highlight" tour, we saw monkeys and a hornbill. There is very little explanation of what you are seeing and the focus seems to be on selfies in front of the landmarks. Maybe just have a sunset tour and a sunrise tour (since the scenery is different) and put some underwater lights and feed the big fish for folks that don't want to do the tours. Also, maybe a sign in each room with the generator, meal, and hot water hours so you don't have to take a cold shower because you missed hot water time.

We booked 2 nights / 3 days at Panvaree and had a Deluxe Bungalow.
We were aware that we would pay a higher price for the great and lonely location, but the price / performance ratio for the accommodation just does not fit.
The Panvaree was for sure a nice accommodation, but the resort is in need of renovation and unkempt (see pictures) - too bad!
The pictures on the popular booking portals are obviously outdated and do not show the current condition of the resort.
The food in general is average. The individual dishes are okay but the meals in total very one-sided (few vegetables, a lot of chicken). The pancakes at breakfast are delicious.
We booked the activity program offered by the Panvaree. The tours are nice but we were left to our own devices and would have liked a guide to tell us a bit about the landscape and wildlife.
The staff speaks little or no English, but is very warm and eager.
Despite the criticisms of the resort, the location is great and the scenery stunning. We were even lucky enough to see a wild elephant with baby on one of the tours.
As accommodation we would not recommend the Panvaree as the price per night is too high and feels not ‚fair‘.
On the booking platform it should be mentioned clearer that the boat transfer from the pier to the resort is included, but only goes once a day (11:30 for check-in and 8:30 back to pier) and otherwise costs extra.

We stayed at Panvaree for one night which included a 2 boat trips and food. The resort was stunning, the rooms were lovely (we stayed in one of the four double rooms, ground floor). This resort is next to the Panvaree resort, apparently the same family own it but this is the newer one, both have a small amount of rooms/villas.
Restaurant is a nice setting although would have been nice to have a choice of dishes, you are given a set menu so not necessarily to everyone’s taste, we are not vegetarian but if you are probably specify in advance as most dishes brought out were meat.
We really enjoyed having the kayaks available for use and the sunset and sunrise long tail boat trips included were great. Kind of wish we stayed two nights so we could have done the trek too! Staff also great and really went out of their way for us. Definitely recommend coming here if going to Thailand, the area and this resort is beautiful!

I stayed there last March for 1 night. The booked price included return boat ride plus 2 boat rides on the lake, one in the late afternoon and one in the morning. They also have kayaks which I think are free to use.
