Travellers' Choice
Elephant Hills combines the African Safari tent camp idea with the breathtakingly beautiful environment of Khao Sok in Southern Thailand. Furthermore, the resort offers 2-4 days soft adventure tours, including kayaking, lake explorations, mangrove expeditions, jungle treks and the unique Elephant Hills elephant experience. Here you get to wash, feed and interact with Asia's largest land animal in a sustainable and fun way. Elephant Hills does not offer Elephant riding out of respect towards the elephants.

Both my partner and I have been to different places in Thailand and this has by far been the most memorable experience. We stayed at the Elephant Camp for the first night and at the Lake for the second night. The views at both sites are breathtaking, nothing I’ve seen before. On our first day we visited the Elephant site - a truly magic experience. All the animals have been rescued and are treated to the highest ethical standards. We got to feed and pet them for a while and then we saw them having a bath. The lake is truly beautiful and we did some kayaking and swimming around. We also got to see some gibbon families on the surrounding areas. The activities aside, our guide, Chart, was truly attentive and generous with his knowledge of the area and culture. The food was delicious, transportation couldn’t have been more comfortable and smooth, and the tents were fantastic. On top of all of this, all their practices are sustainable and they’re making great efforts to preserve and advance documentation of the rainforest. A business worth supporting. Really a must in Thailand!

Stayed in January 2021. Luxury glamping in a natural setting. We did one night in the hills, one night on the lake in Khao Sak National park. Full board, canoeing, forest trek and feeding elephants all part of the experience. The Elephant hills team look after you every step of the way. A well thought through and run operation with a focus on conservation. The brochure can't do it justice - luxury as close to nature as you can get.

Day one we arrived at elephant hills. It was a lovely large lodge nestled into the jungle at the base of a vast limestone cliff. Excellent guide in Saow who took us to the elephants where we fed them fruit and learned about the centre which was then followed by a kayaking trip down the river through stunning scenery and catching glimpses of wildlife. Very good accommodation, solid tents that are pretty insect proof. Day 2 we took a long tail boat trip on khao sok lake surrounded by even more stunning prehistoric landscape. It was a magical camp floating on the water with similar tents. Food was good. We did a jungle trek which was fairly hard going if you are not fit. However we entered an amazing cave with bats and wildlife to see. In the morning we went kayaking on the lake beneath the rocks looking for animals. Our guide Saow was amazing and had all the knowledge necessary and was friendly and informative.

We stayed at Elephant Hills for 3 days during our trip to Thailand and it was incredible. We were lucky enough to be the only guests as they were just reopening after 18 months of Covid restrictions - we couldn't have been better looked after. The luxury tents really are excellent - we slept really well and with the exception of air conditioning they have all the comforts you'd expect in a decent hotel room. Our transfer from Phuket was very smooth and comfortable too. Service was so friendly and helpful from start to finish. We really felt like valued guests. There was so much excellent food - we could have fed a small army and it was all delicious. The bar area was pleasant to relax in after dinner. This all provided a backdrop to the main reason for our visit - experiencing the nature and wildlife of Khao Sok. The elephant experience was the highlight - preparing a meal and feeding the elephants was incredible. We had lots of time watching and interacting with the elephants and learning more about them. We also very much enjoyed our kayaking trip (where we spotted monkeys, birds, and snakes), time spent at the Rainforest camp kayaking and swimming, and trek into the jungle. If you enjoy seeing wildlife and experiencing top-notch hospitality, you won't be disappointed.
