We wanted to love this place. We stayed many years ago and raved about it. Sadly, it has fallen into decline. Our cabin smelled stale and dank, the dishcloth was putrid, as was the shower curtain and 'oven'. Although the beds were clean and comfy it had the overall feeling of grottyness. There are now so many free range animals...

Stayed a night during a work trip recently and we were all very happy. Nice big house with everything we needed. Old but very clean and warm. Outside is a very pretty area and great to be able to watch platypus in the water which is not something you get to see everyday.

We had a great experience staying in this accommodation. We had a very spacious house to ourselves and the hosts cooked lasagne and potatoes for our dinner. It was a very nice and relaxing stay. Kids had fun feeding different home animals as well as watching platypus. It is close to Strathgordon Dam and giants' forest. Great place to stay!

When we arrived we were told we had been given a free upgrade to the large house which was very plesant suprise. Whilst the accomodation is a little tired, it was very clean, comfortable and value for money. We ordered room service for dinner which was a very delicious home cooked meal of roast pork and vege. The gravy..yum. The...

Stayed overnight here and were disappointed. The staff were lovely, check-in a breeze but the cabin was tired and showed it. The shower head fell off as we tried to use it, the TV reception (for the kids) was almost non existent, chipped and broken crockery and glasses, and the general feel was unclean, although I'm sure it wasn't...it's just...

This was our kids' favourite place in Tasmania! The cottages are simple and dated but comfortable. There is play equipment just at the door and lovely area to run or read a book and watch for platypuses. Lots of animals and kids can participate in daily feeding and egg collecting. What made the stay for us was the hosts -...

The animal residents make it a fun place to visit. The cottages are very spacious and well setup. A fly screen door would be great to let the cool breeze in. Lots to do outdoors in surrounding MT Field and Styx Valley. We would stay again in this haven.

What a great place. Lindy and Greg are great hosts and very helpful. The cottages are old, but very functional. Maydena is well located to fish Lake Pedder and many great trout streams. The place would benefit from the construction of a semi enclosed BBQ area, where guests could meet and relax.

We stayed in a one bedroom spa cottage whilst travelling around Tasmania. Cottage was spacious, clean, tidy and homely. The jacuzzi bath was amazing after a long hike in the nearby beautiful Mount Field National Park. Bed was extremely comfortable. The grounds are beautiful, tranquil and relaxing. We seen platypus in the ponds and many farm animals and chooks. We...
