Lovely location to rest from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
Due to issues at airport unfortunately arrived too late at 20:00 being informed the kitchen was closed for dinner which I booked for 19:30. Disappointed the kitchen closed so early, but we where offered a salad which was nice and we appreciated their effort but unfortunately not keen on duck gizzard which was added to the salad.
Staff lovely.

My review here is for the restaurant only as we did not stay at the auberge. Fine selection of classic Gers dishes with excellent foie gras, cote échine de porc, fresh fish, and a fine list of mostly local wines. The service was excellent. Special thanks to Iness and Karim for providing first-classs service and a warm welcome. Give those 2 a raise! We would recommend this restaurant to any visitors to the area and will definitely return ourselves.

The hotel is easy to find in a small village with a lovely view of a large chateau. There is ample free car parking. The staff are lovely and speak excellent English. The rooms are very spacious, comfortable, quiet and well appointed. The restaurant serves excellent food at a reasonable price and there is plenty of choice. Breakfast is very good as well. We enjoyed a lovely walk around the chateau after dinner.

This is our second visit here. The first time we had to wait ages for our meal but thought it was perhaps not normal but here on our second visit once again we have had to wait almost an hour and a half for the food to arrive. The place was not at full capacity so I have no idea why it took so long, surely the entreés should be almost ready to serve! Not impressed and will not return for a third visit.

The breakfast was extremely poor for €6 a person - it was a bit of bread and jam - a real rip off - should have been included in the cost per room.
The room had a strange white powder falling on everything in the room all night. It may have been paint or insect repellant. Not sure - but it was all over our clothes, the bed and hair the next morning. Spiders' webs and spiders all over the room. Cleanliness could have easily been improved.
Service was poor-for example, the waiter reluctantly used the coffee machine for us in the morning when we werent happy with the instant on the table. His atitude was very moody and that we were an inconvenient.
The room was about €60 - which isnt bad I guess - just wish they changed a couple of things to improve it greatly.

A beautiful view of the old bastide, great food and a pleasant if slightly quirky room. For some reason the loo has been placed right against the wall, and the two chairs in the room were metal garden chairs. Great dining experience though, and will definitely go back.

We booked a suite in advance and verified that there was a restaurant on site. It was clear that the hotel was in a small hamlet and as I am partially disabled we didn't want to have to go to the next town in the evening as it was a good drive away. My disability means I can only walk short distances and I have problems swallowing and choke easily. The room was excellent and we had no complaints at all. In the evening we studied the menu and were disappointed to find that the only choices for the 1st course were salad or gazpacho. The main course was totally red meat or cassoulet. This gave me a choice of only the soup and cassoulet. Unfortunately the soup although a good flavour had lots of pieces of tomato skin and shreds of something like twigs, apparently just blitzed everything and not sieved. I pointed out to the waiter I couldn't eat but he just shrugged. The cassoulet was horrendous totally dried out and shrunken into the dish. On saying this I got an annoyed look and he said he'd get another. My husband had finished his meal by the time mine arrived. Again dry tough meat and I gave Up and we left. We decided to leave the next day but when I told the manager he immediately said that my meal was acceptable and he would charge 2 nights regardless. Having explained my problem he looked exasperated and as I had said I could only eat fish or chicken he said he would arrange for chicken. The next night I went without a 1st course but the chicken arrived and was dry outside and still bloody in the centre, sent it back and once again another piece raw in the middle dry outside another hungry night. The next day when we left we were charged for everything and given a look of annoyance. Other visitors both French and English told us that they had not eaten their because of the poor menu or after 1 meal ate elsewhere. No character in the restaurant and no interest in customer well being. The main custom there was from organized walking groups. We felt very sorry for them. Our room was excellent and I would recommend to anyone going there to enjoy the room but go elsewhere to eat and don't expect any customer service.

Unlike some of the reviewers of this place my wife and I have no complaints at all and would happily have stayed longer.

The rooms are fashioned out of old farm buildings and have only recently been finished so they are a little raw in places and lacking some of the minor touches which will no doubt be added in time but they are spacious, clean and well laid-out and they enjoy spectacular views over the countryside.

The staff also are relatively new to the hospitality industry. We found them all without exception to be entirely charming but we did witness one incident where rather rude and arrogant guest was told that she could not reasonably expect graceful service unless she herself was prepared to offer the common courtesies of 'please' and 'thank you'. At the time of our visit there had been a local storm which had completely disabled the internet connection and thus the credit card facility. Some guests seemed to regard it as the fault of the proprietor and objected strongly to the request that they make a 5 minute drive to a cash machine so they could settle their bill. My sympathy is with the staff who seemed very willing to help but unwilling to accept diisrespect.

The hotel is close to the pilgrimage route. One hopes that these travellers will be more Christian in their outlook.

Amazing view of the tiny walled village from the hotel patio. Somewhat rustic Auberge with rooms in converted barn. Good value evening meals in the restaurant. Good for overnight stay but wouldn't want to spend too long here - the lack of facilities would be problematic.

This hotel has a wonderful location overlooking France's smallest fortified village, sometimes called the mino- Carcassonne. It is a relativbely simple hotel with comfortable rooms and a good. regional; menu. Not overpriced. Hotel manager not the friendliest but a very pleasant two-day stay nonetheless. The small village is well worth a village and the local Armagnac bears the village's name.
