This is our 3rd stay at Secrets Cap Cana and by far our best vacation yet. The level of personal service we receive is one of the main reasons we choose to stay here. The staff greet you by name, remember minor details like "no cheese-no croutons" in my minestrone soup at the Portofino, when we returned later in the week. Juan, our concierge did a super job at helping me provide my wife with THE best birthday ever. A wonderful romantic breakfast in the room. After returning from a day of sun and fun, the room was decorated for her birthday with rose petals on the bed and a path of rose petals to the soaking tub which was filled with scented oils and more rose petals and a perfectly chilled bottle of champagne and a birthday cake. I booked the romantic dinner of the beach which completed the perfect birthday for her. Felix Pilier the food and beverage manager does an excellent job to ensure that his staff are aware and can accommodate food allergies like celiac. Virtually every staff member is aware of what is and isn't gluten free on the menu. Our waitress at the pool bar, Yokasta, remembered my wife by name and remembered me as the one who wanted "extra chocolate" in my mudslides and dirty bananas on day 1 of this trip...pretty impressive for a woman who must've seen thousands of people since our stay last year and can remember these minor details about us. Clarissa, the hostess at Portofino also remembered us from our previous stay. The rooms are beautifully appointed and very well maintained. The cleaning staff cleaned based on what was convenient for us timewise, each and every day. Never did we return to the room and find that it hadn't been cleaned; a nice plus when you are accustomed to a routine like I am. They take the condition of the resort quite seriously, the restrooms near the pool are constantly being maintained. The lady stands outside the restroom, mopping and wiping down everything as needed. The beach is beautiful white sand and blue ocean! The eveing entertainment in the lobby is superior to what you find in many resorts. The lobby waitstaff are eager to fix you the perfect cocktail of your choice. In short, if you are looking to book a beautiful vacation at a resort that tends to your every want and need, look no further that Secrets Cap Cana.

This is our 4th time to the DR and our 3rd Secrets visit to this island; the first two were at Royal Beach and 1 to Sunscape (see my reviews if you’d like).

The DR is a beautiful island and we felt very safe there though we never left the resort.

We had an Ocean Front King Room in building 5 and it was perfect except they took away the irons and replaced them with a useless steamer. Please stick with the irons. Building 5 is close to everything even though the resort isn’t that large.

The service throughout was very good most of the time. The wait staff at the restaurants still needs a bit of training. Shout out to our concierge Luis who took care of all our needs.

Lizanne at UVC bent over backwards to help us with anything we needed.

Lady Diva and the rest of the entertainment do their best to keep the fun up if that’s what you are looking for. Victor at the pool bar keeps the drinks flowing with a touch of fun. All of the wait staff at the pools and beach are always there for you if you want a drink. They also have top shelf liquor at most of the bars.

We loved the preferred pool and beach area but thought the preferred lounge needs to be up to par with other Secrets, Dreams or even Sunscape lounges. It should be larger, serve more food and have more amenities for the guest i.e. games, books and lounge and tables to eat.

We ate at all the restaurant’s except El Patio just because we ran out of time. All the others were ok and this is coming from a pair who aren’t picky eaters. We did have some good meals but more than half were not enjoyable.

We did have a romantic dinner on the beach which was awesome but of course we paid $260 for it, but still worth it for a special occasion.

We loved the beach and the pools. We also loved that they started to enforce the towel game when people leave there towels on a lounger and don’t come back for hours even if they had left some articles of clothing or something. I saw them remove towels and clothing on a regular basis which was nice to see. All the offenders had to do is go to the lost and found.

Overall we really like the resort and hope that they can step up and address our concerns with the food. We also liked the fact that they kept the locals off the beach and out of the resort. I don’t begrudge the locals from making a living however if we want to indulge in the local environment, we can take a cab to the local mall or market. Secrets does have a small store that is set up for the locals to sell their merchandise, which was nice.

The resort is beautiful and the beach is large and clean, a tractor cleans the nights seaweed deposit each morning at sunrise. The poolside and beach service at your lounger was the best we have experienced at any adult only resort. They were stopping by every 30 to 45 minutes, except over the lunch rush. We enjoyed not having to make reservations for the a la carte restaurants and had no issues getting into our first choice for the full week. Service was better if you were in restaurants near opening time instead of one or two hours later. If you had any issues they were quick to remedy (one night our medium-well beef tenderloin steaks came almost blue- second attempt the steaks were larger and cooked to perfection. The food was delicious, we each were once disappointed by the food choice we made but the spouse’s meal would be excellent. They were attentive to food allergies and the breakfast buffet had a gluten free bread section and non dairy options for your coffee at the coffee shop. If you do not trust the in room coffee maker you could place a standing order for morning latte, coffees, tea to be dropped off. The rooms have a pass through box so your room service server did not need access to your room to deliver room service. Wake up to your first coffee waiting for you. Our room was a pool swim out room and we had a concierge,Nelson,who we gave our cell number to. The concierge checked in with us by text several times each day to see if we had any concerns. We did have an issue with the toilet tank never ceasing to fill on the first night and one message to the concierge and maintenance was knocking on the door within five minutes. The first repair fixed one problem but created another issue with water leaking from the wall with the toilets water supply line so we returned from the pool to a flooded bathroom floor. The concierge was at our door immediately after getting our text and maintenance was there again in minutes. The concierge made arrangements for housekeeping to clean our room again before we returned from dinner. This was a minor inconvenience that did not ruin a vacation and the prompt resolution was impressive. The resort did a good job of making a birthday feel special, rose petal decorated bed, birthday cake and a bottle of bubbly and happy bday sign on the door all included no extra charges, thanks to the concierge. This resort does not permit timeshare pedlars which was an issue vacationers at other adult only resorts experienced. We will be returning to this resort again as it has become a new favourite.

When we booked our trip we looked at all the rooms and decided based on price and location that the Preferred Bungalow Suite Ocean Front Swim Out was our best price for our seven day trip. It was right next to the beach, two bars very close to our room, and the swim out had a great view of the ocean.

As part of the preferred guest list we had a butler assigned to us for the entirety of our trip. His name was Anibal. He was very helpful, funny, and gave great advice on how to make the most out of our trip. He was able to book us a last minute excursion before the Easter Holiday weekend. He helped us book an appointment for a couples massage, decorated the room, brought us champagne and chocolates! All the time he kept asking us if we needed anything and made sure that no little thing was out of the question. He was there for us and he was the biggest reason my wife and I had such a great time on our trip!

I was a little hesitant at first when booking the spa. I had never been to one before. Upon arriving, Junior walked me and my wife to the changing rooms where we were given a clean towel, pair of sandals, and robe, each item was individually wrapped to keep them clean. We had booked a deep tissue massage and the two ladies, Yinette and Wanda did a terrific job. My wife said she felt refreshed and relaxed. I almost fell asleep I was so comfortable. I should have made the appointment for earlier in our stay and next time I definitely will try to go more than once.

Another part of the hotel that my wife and I really enjoyed was the Coco Café. They make the best coffee and milkshakes. The barista's Dania and Esther were extremely friendly and fast. They made sure everything in the café was clean and the food was always prepared fresh. Also, outside the café are chairs to relax in and enjoy the spectacular view of the resort. You can sit by the waterfall in the lounge area and look out over the pool, the restaurants, and still have a terrific view of the ocean.

This was our 2nd time to Punta Cana, and our 3rd time to an AM Resort. The Secrets Cap Cana is by far the best one so far. It is absolutely fabulous, from the views, the pools, the rooms, the food…What really sets this resort apart from the rest is the attentiveness of the staff. You are left feeling that everyone there genuinely wants you to make sure you are having a great vacation, and that everything meets your expectations and more.

The layout of the pools and chairs along them is great! Every chair is pool front and there are so many of them you really don’t have to worry if you are a late riser. There are plenty of umbrellas for those who want shade. Pool attendants greet you in the morning and find chairs in your desired location and even set up the towels for you.

We were in a swim up in building 1 which was perfect for us. Important to note for those who want the view, these rooms are not pool view or ocean view. Rather they are surrounded by plants and trees to give you quite the tropical feel. At first I was not sure about it, but it was really great. We had privacy, which was nice to have and we used our patios and pools every night. We had sun first thing in the morning to late afternoon.

Our Concierge Nelson went out of his way every day to make sure we had everything we need from texting in the morning making sure we had a great evening the night before, to finding us around the pool, to bringing us special drinks and making our special requests happen, and many other little surprises along the way. People like Nelson truly make this resort the success that it is.

A few other standouts were our Fidelina and Madelyn at the pool, they got to know what we liked to drink and made sure we were never thirsty! "The Cat" and "Big Boy" were fun and often encouraging people around the pool to join in on activities. Daniel at Seaside Grill. Ronny at Bordeaux was also very good.

Hi,

Our stay started well but the veneer soon disappeared, e.g (1) Ocean view restaurant open to hotel guests during the night is segregated to Premium customers during breakfast? (2) Sun loungers are not be reserved and orange hotel towels available via the hotel staff post 08.00hrs. As if by magic when you arrive to collect your towel @ 07.45hrs (best to be early) all premium positioned sun beds (beach included) are sporting an orange towel (minus their recipient) ? Also, as loungers out number the umbrellas on the beach (which by 07.45hrs have all been ‘preemptively’ taken )you’re then left on the beach without any shade! (3) As we prefer a glass of wine in the evening with our meal it was disappointing that only two of each were included within the ‘international’ selection, i.e. Chardonnay @ Sauvignon Blanc (white) + Merlot & Cabernet Sauvignon (all wines are Argentinian). So, much for an international selection of spirits ! (4) What should be standard fair at the lunch time barbecue on the beach varies on a daily basis, e.g. no fried onions, no mushrooms, no chips and no chicken burgers?

So, to conclude, the staff are pleasant and courteous but the hotels 5 Star rating is somewhat questionable.

We regret reading that apparently we failed to ensure that our hotel policy, forbidding the reservation of sunbeds, was respected during your visit. Your mentioning of this in your review did not go unnoticed and we are pleased to inform you that with immediate effect we will be enforcing the communication reminding guests that reservation of sunbeds without immediate use is forbidden in our hotel. My husband and I had the time of our lives at Secrets Cap Cana Resort in the Dominican Republic. We had a Bungalow Suite with a pool swim out room and butler service. The view is breathtaking no matter where you look. The service was exceptional even under COVID conditions. We were provided honeymoon treatment every single day. Every interaction with the staff was pleasant and amusing. If we used more of a particular item like a specific size of towel, the staff would notice without you asking and provide extras. The restaurants were amazing with plenty of variety and the quality was out of this world fantastic. We felt safe the whole time, everything was clean or we saw people actively cleaning constantly, offered hand sanitizer in every location, and everyone wore a mask at all times.
AmStar, the company that handled the excursions portion of the trip and transportation to/from the airport (extra and absolutely worth it!), did a great job of explaining the excursions, not pressuring us, keeping us safe, and providing memories that will last a lifetime.
The staff remembers names and welcomes you everywhere you go! Remember to track the names of people who you like the most! Shout out to: Alexis, Francy, Big Boi AKA Dominican Will Smith, Esmerlyn, Jan, and Walter! We love you too and can't wait to come back to our second home. 😁

I chose this resort over the one next to them (Hyatt), I'm glad I did, don't regret my stay. The girlfriend and I arrived on Thursday at 3pm (check in time), when we arrived the valet service gave me a ticket and took my car, which is something that has never happened in any resort.

We were taken straight to the check in desks and were attended to pretty fast, we were given our keys, given drinks and quickly taken to our room by the a concierge assigned to us.

The resort it self is not a huge resort, so walking distance to our room was a short walk, we got to our room and just started to unpack, We rented out the swim out room, I have to say that the swim out pool is bigger than any swim out pool I have ever been to.

The resort is technically new, everything is just so clean, so crisp and nothing seems worn out or dirty, the rooms are no exception they're very clean, they smell good and they're very comfortable. One thing we noticed is that no matter how many time we stepped out to go eat or anything we needed to leave the room for, when we came back the room was always cleaned, bed was always fixed and towels were always fixed or replaced. This practice alone made me love the resort even more, now I don't know if it's because of the whole Covid situation or because that's the way the resort usually operates.

From what I remember there are about 6 or 7 a la carte restaurants, 1 one of them is the buffet but it never opened while we were there, and we were there for 5 days. There's the Mexican restaurant, the French restaurant, The Japanese restaurant, the Italian restaurant, the SeaSide Gill and the Oceana Grill and there's also the Coco cafe which is open 24/7 they serve coffee, snacks and small sandwiches.

The food at these restaurants is good but in my opinion they can make the portions a bit bigger, some of these plates are just some gourmet small. I noticed that there was only 2 bars, there could be more but one of the bars is in the lobby and the other bar is by the pool, drinks are good and some of the brands are top shelf.

One if not the biggest parts of this resort are the people, the service is impeccable, they always find a way to make you happy and feel like you're really important, everyone always smiled, never saw anyone mad or having a serious look to them, and that is something we as customers appreciate a lot.

The only small thing that I have to say against the resort is that I wish it could be bigger, it's not a small resort by any means but it just feels like you can go no where else but the beach or pools, I don't think there is a nightclub or any other entertainment, probably just the theater but that was only open for our last night.

The type of people visiting this resort is mostly quiet and calm people, none of those rowdy noisy guests like at some other resorts. I observed that they do take the Covid precautions pretty serious, they tend to clean everything a lot.

Overall I really recommend this resort, you want peace and quiet, this is it, you want great service, this is it, you want good food and drinks, this is it.

We stayed here for 5 nights. Convince to the airport is great and only a 15 minute ride. The resort is in a gated area which is a plus. We stayed in a preferred suite and were met with a friendly “Welcome home” greeting, glass of champagne and refreshing towel. We were quickly taken to the preferred check in area where it has its own bar and food area. We checked in and was pleasantly surprised to have been upgraded to a swim out room. We were given a high level tour of the facilities on check in and were then taken to our room. We were explained all of the amenities of the room and explained how to use the resort WiFi for free international calling and communicating with our butler JP. I can’t say enough good things about our experience at this resort. Facilities and grounds are maintained beautifully, JP took care of our every request quickly, several large pool facilities that never looked over crowded and the mixed drinks use top shelf liquors. Each morning we received a text message of the days events. There is no shortage of places to eat here during the day and for dining at night. A few of the restaurants require long pants and close toe shoes for men. We never had a bad meal during our stay.

If you like to do excursions there is lots of options available, we had no reason to leave the resort and opted not to do any.

There is nightly entertainment which is great.

The beach is the white powder type sand and the water has almost no waves

During the day I think the pool could have used music other than what was planned as an event for the day.

We plan on returning and hope to bring friends.

Tips: take an insulated glass for your drinks so they don’t get hot so quick.

If your staying in a swim out room take your own float

Lastly prepare to have a relaxing time.

The accommodations are simply amazing! This resort is truly perfect for couples. The room service and housekeeping are wonderful. The level of privacy is great! We were able to have room service delivered and not have to open the room door at all. They can leave your food in a compartment that you can access from within your room. With the flip of a switch, literally, you dictate if you want housekeeping services or not and how you wish to receive your room service meals. There’s an outdoor jacuzzi that is the perfect temperature even in the summer heat. It was so relaxing and comfortable to our surprise. The only drawback for me were the mosquitos. Overall our stay was great and the staff is superb! This resort was recommended to us by the team at Tripguy and it was the perfect choice.
