On the postive side, two members of the staff really made this trip enjoyable. Zule our sommelier and Thomas a restaurant manager. They went above and beyond in terms of service and attention. The room service delivery team was also very good, but across the resort, most staff, no matter what their position, were unhappy and discourteous. The beach bar service was really not good. There were never more than a handful of people on the beach or by the pool, but service took forever. It really began to feel like we were not welcome there and some of the restaurants/bars. The food itself was very good at lunch and dinners, but breakfast was not good at all either in the restaurant or from room service. The vast majority of the hotel needs an overhall in terms of decor and technology, but the new beachfront rooms are new but much smaller and no private pool like our Villa had. The issue was wifi was constantly going down and the technology in the room, including the phone and tvs, did not work. Their response to problems was great, but you spent a lot of time on your vacation constantly tracking down people to help fix things. That's not enjoyable and shouldn't be happening at a 5 Star, Fine Hotel & Resort like this. The checkin and checkout process was also belaboured and could be streamlined. They also didn't have our Villa ready for over 2 hours after I arrived and the resort was far from sold out. They should have had something ready. They brought me to a bar to eat and drink but did not even offer to comp the meal or give me a place to change into a swimsuit while I waited. Overall, I've stayed at many places and this one could use some work in customer service and a facelift. For the price, there are many other amazing options in DR and not sure I'd go back. …

Took a quick Memorial Day weekend trip. Make sure to review your airport pickup details prior to arrival. PUJ airport’s 3G service and hectic arrivals pickup area will leave you sorry you if you did not. Transfer company super friendly Coming and going. Check in was a breeze. I’ll say 5-Star service and friendliness from every single employee we met. I would stay here again. Cap Cana area seems very safe.

Best resort my wife and I have vacationed in. Our room, Villa 4 was beautiful. The food at the restaurants is amazing, the facilities are beautiful and very well taken care of, and the people that work at the resort are simply wonderful. The service they provide to their guests is impeccable! They are the reason we will be coming back for many years to come!

Rum can be made in so many places but not like in the Dominican Republic. Especially if you have the opportunity to have Andy explain every step in the process of making rum. Andy is very knowledgeable and educated us extensively in rum. He was personable and knowledgeable. Enjoyed spending the time learning from him. Thank you Andy!

Three word…. LUXURY CARIBBEAN VIBES. I would recommend this to anyone and everyone who is looking for a relaxed, exclusive and gorgeous stay in the Dominican. From the service, cocktails, villas, massages and beyond. My wife and I were impressed from start to finish. And felt extremely loved and welcomed the entire stay. We were celebrating our 2 year wedding anniversary and the staff (Carlos & Orlando) went above and beyond for us. The final night we were here they did a special evening for us to honor our love. Roman, Julio, Jendry, and Hector on the beach were phenomenal! Amazing service, great to talk to and also made sure we were always with a drink or snack in hand. I would highly recommend this place and definitely will be coming back with my wife soon!

Room 2118. A lot of deferred maintenance. Malfunctioning AC due to dirty filter (code E1) Broken minibar it took three hours to get it replaced. Phone malfunctioning will not connect t to any extension. Room is large but sparse furniture. Outdated technology. You will need to pull out the nightstand to find an outlet. At this very steep price all the above is unacceptable. Positive : Common areas are delightful and personnel courteous and efficient.

The person we were traveling with went into anaphylaxis from a shellfish allergy due to poor control and service at the Mediterraneo Restaurant which is completely unacceptable. She told 3 different people that night of her shellfish allergy. Not a single person from any of the staff knew what happened and just kept telling us "maybe she is allergic to Seabass" which is completely untrue and was very frustrating. Not to mention that she had eaten the seabass the day before, but also she is 36 years old, at this point she knows what she is allergic to and not. The pool service staff was very kind, but not very attentive except Jendry-- he did a fabulous job!! Overall hotel was amazing-- very clean, beautiful, well run, but the poor experience at Mediterraneo Restaurant means we will never return and would not recommend to any friend with an allergy.…
