The location is Splendid(o), right on the Bay of Kotor. The hotel invested a great deal in the exterior that is truly well kept around the terrace and pool area. The waiters are very kind, as is the pool staff. (Thank you to Radocio, Eldin, Nicola, Dominique, and Rada of the cleaning staff) It was fantastic to be able to swim directly in the Kotor Bay, as I could not imagine remaining in the pool area all day. However… the hotel management was abominable and stressful. The Hotel Managers made us fell uncomfortable during our entire stay. Upon our arrival at 21:30, were where requested to pay the total reservation (4100 +Euros). This is the first time ever that I have been requested to pay a hotel up-front , upon arrival. Please note that we found the General Conditions of Sale posted in the reception after paying. Apparently, one is not obliged to pay all up front. It is permitted to pay a deposit only. Please note that once you pay all, you have zero leverage if all goes to hell….. you have zero recourse. Keys in hand, we hauled our luggage up two floors of stairs to discover that the hotel had not respected our Booking reservation. We had reserved an executive Bay View suite and a Twin Bay view suite for our children. We were placed in a dirty room with a view of the one lane road that serves this side of the bay. We returned to reception to show our Booking reservation confirming our reservation of rooms with Bay View. The receptionist (very kind) passed me to his manager by phone. She was in town and had no patience to deal with the situation. She told me that there was no guarantee for a Bay View via Booking, this despite the fact that the prices for a Bay View were more expensive than a road view. I asked “Why come to Kotor if you do not have a bay view??”. She told me that if I didn't like the room that I was welcome to leave. I explained that it would be difficult to find another hotel at 21:30 and that we had just paid the totality of our stay (4100+ Euros) She suggested that I sleep in my car if I was not happy. Shocked, I exclaimed that I could not imagine sleeping in my “FING car with two children, my husband and our luggage” Yes, the F word slipped out of my mouth as I was so shocked by the Manager’s suggestion. She suggested that we eat dinner on the terrace, offered by the Hotel, while they tried to find a solution. I was told that there was no room on the terrace, but we could eat inside in a very boldly florescent-lighted empty eating hall. I refused and went to see the terrace. The beautiful terrace had 10 empty tables! I took a picture of the empty terrace. Upon presentation of my picture, the reception set a table for us. Exhausted, we ate while waiting for the Hotel Manager to respond. The meal was well served. I was then presented with a bill of 330 Euros for our meal. Of course, I did not expect that the hotel pay for any wine. This said, I did not however expect that the local wine, suggested by the waiter, would cost 60 Euros a bottle. (My bad, I should have asked for the price.) I stupidly assumed that local wine in Montenegro might be less expensive than in France…. Surprise! I was not reimbursed for the meal at all! After the meal, the Management announced that they had found a solution. We were down graded from an Executive Sea Room Suite to a « Communicating Basic Room », albeit with a small window with a small view of the bay. Our kids’ twin room, in another building was bigger (Two windows) ! This was supposed to be a temporary solution for the first night. The same night, I sent an email requesting that the hotel respect our Booking reservation. Three days later, I still had no response, this despite my attempts to discuss the issue with the Reception staff. The management (Administration Manager(a woman in the back office) and General Manager (a man who circulates all day around the hotel) avoided us during the entire stay. I sent a second email to which they responded indicating that they had “ deliberately” chosen to not respond to my email because I had been “inappropriate” as I had insisting that they respect my reservation and that I had used the “F” word when the manager suggested that I leave the hotel and sleep in my car. Sorry, but the word came out of mouth as I was stunned by her suggestion. During the entire conversation, overheard by the reception, my family and by other guests, I never raised the tone of my voice and remained cordial. It is only because they cashed in our full booking payment (I have never in my life of world travel had to pay up front) that we had to remain in such a stressful situation. We remained in a tiny connecting room, for the same price as an executive room that had not been refurbished in years and did not correspond to a 4 star hotel standing. No price adjustment was made. The Administrative Director made our stay very stressful. The General Manager circulated through the Hotel, but never approached us. What kind of Manager avoids Customers? Thank goodness the waiter staff and pool staff were kind. We enjoyed their company. Upon our departure, the service staff thanked us for being such courteous and kind guests. However, we never met the management staff during our stay. Cherry on the top: We had to leave two days earlier than expected due to a death of my mother. I notified Booking and the hotel management by email and in person. The hotel, of course, refused to reimburse our last two nights (2 rooms X 2 nights – 400 Euros). I was not surprised and accepted that we pay 400 Euros + for the two lost nights. Knowing that we had to depart earlier, this under terrible circumstances, they asked us to leave our room at 10:30. They wished to sell our room to other guests and therefore make a double profit. I refused to leave our room until our departure for the airport later that evening. I had paid two rooms, for two further days. I was not going to rush my departure to attend a funeral so that the Hotel Splendido could double sell our two rooms and profit from our grief. This was too much. We left the hotel with a bad feeling despite the kindness of certain staff members. They, and only they, made it possible for us to tolerate our stay. We avoided all evening meals in the Hotel. Having been taken advantage of, we did not wish to spend further money in this establishment. The 3 star hotel directly in front of the hotel had a lovely restaurant and staff (Hotel Bokeljski Dvoir) We even saw staff members of the Splendido eating there!. There are also several Konobo (Taverns) further up the road that provide local food (Konobo Lanterne, Konoba Boka Bay) Spend your time in these kind, local establishments. We left Montenegro deceived by the Splendido Hotel. The location is gorgeous. The interior is absolutely pitiful. The rooms are not renovated. No mini bar if you are thirsty. No water provided. Avoid the tap water (intestinal difficulties guaranteed) It is difficult to hang clothes in the closet (no space, therefore you live out of your suitcase) You must be an contortionist to attempt having a shower in such limited space. I have several bruises from banging my elbows and knees in the tiny shower. I had to attempt to shave, with great balance, placing my foot on the sink or the edge of the toilet seat to shave anything. We traveled a great deal by car. Although the landscapes are amazing, the cities are disappointing. No less then threecruise ships dump thousands, upon thousands of tourists in Kotor every day. Kotor looks like a Disney Land for tourists. The prices are outrageous. Should you venture further, the villages on the North Bank are simply ugly, as is Budva that resembles a concrete wall with back-to-back umbrellas positioned 1M apart. We remain quite simply disappointed by the hotel management, prices, quality. However, we met a few waiters and staff who were able to allow us to remain in an Hotel that should in no way be considered as a comfortable vacation stay. Ps. Watch out. We hoped to rent a boat to explore the Kotor Bay and to water ski. All such activities are not permitted in the Bay. Unless you accept to pay exorbitant boat rental fees with a skipper, you are condemned to remain in your hotel pool.

The views are lovely and the pool area is nice. The food in the restaurant is overpriced and terrible. The rooms are basic, we paid extra for a sea view but our view was more of the car park than the sea. We had only one pillow each which was practically completely flat and needs replacing. Our room was up 3 flights of stairs (no lift I was told due to unesco). There was no offer of help with our bags. The level of helpfulness from the reception was varying ( some were rude, some very helpful). The hotel is not walking distance to the old town. It’s about 10/15 mins in a taxi - which can be difficult to get at times. Overall not worth the money in my opinion even with the nice views.

We stayed at Hotel Splendido in August 2022. It is a nice hotel, located in Prcanj, with a nice view over the Kotor Bay. Pool and private beach are really nice. The area has also a nice restaurant with a terrace. You can find a lot of good food in the restaurants menu. The breakfast, included in the rooms price, has a nice variety of food. Rooms are a little small, same as the bathroom. We did not have a full minibar in the room. But we enjoyed some drinks at the restaurants terrace, near the sea. I would recommend this hotel. We had a nice stay.

Visited Visin restaurant at Hotel Splendido today for a late lunch and it was excellent. Wasn’t sure they were open to the general public as there’s limited information on their website or Tripadvisor but was warmly welcomed by the receptionist and the waiters in the restaurant and invited to sit where I liked. The view from the outdoor terrace across Kotor bay is beautiful and the food was excellent. Paid €40 for two small bottles of water, 2 large wines and a main meal (which also included a tip) which I felt was very reasonable given the gorgeous setting, the fabulous service and the delicious food. Spent a very pleasant couple of hours here! Would highly recommend and would definitely return if I’m staying in Prcanj again.

We were staying just down the road, but only called in as the local cafe is drinks only. That, we are glad of. A friendly receptionist directed us to the restaurant and we were offered a lovely table in the shade, but with a view. An opinion given on wine and beer and an approval of our choice to go for a lunch of the mixed fish and seafoos platter. It was a very good decision. Fantastic prawns, sea bass and baby squids, but tje star of the show was the Octopus - meaty and succulent and worth going back for. The two types of rice, the potatoes and the bread, all tasty. 3 wines, a beer and the food, plus a 10% tip, for around 60 euros. Would definately recommend.

Great hotel! The staff is very kind, friendly and welcoming. While still at home, we contacted the hotel for tours. We were recommended and organized two great excursions. The hotel is very clean, with beautiful greenery, a pleasant swimming pool and a charming restaurant. The hotel has a great number of views and we were even lucky enough to see dolphins there even near the hotel. If we return to Montenegro, then definitely in this hotel as well.

Have been here for lunch before but first time staying there for four nights. Low season so quiet. Outside terrace area is peaceful with stunning views. If warm enough can swim right off it. Pool / sun lounger area from May. Room was simple, clean and light. Staff really were lovely couldn’t help you enough (especially Milan). Breakfast choice fairly limited but enough (we were out of season). Definitely recommended if you don’t want to be in Kotor town which is very busy. 15 min walk.

We stayed for several days in August. Fabulous location on the bay. Rooms simple but clean and functional. Swimming in the pool and on the sea with private access was fantastic. Beautiful restaurant terrace overlooking the bay. Restaurant a bit patchy - usually good food and attentive waiting staff, but kitchen sometimes very slow.
