I haven't been here for a while but it is a wonderful place to visit and worth staying a night or two. We camped and sat by the fire drinking wine and talking. The sunsets are breathtaking. The homestead sells meals but from past experiences I refuse to eat there any more. The food is expensive and the menu needs...

Dear Dasboot_871, Thank you for sharing your experience of Glen Helen Homestead Lodge. It’s great to hear that you enjoyed the campground and the amazing sunset. Thank you also for your feedback regarding the meals, I am sorry to hear that our menu is not to your taste. Hopefully you will be back out this way again in the future....

My wife and I together with 2 family members were very impressed with the Lodge. At 3+ star the offerings are fine. We were comfortable, warm, dry and revelled in the atmospherics. Happy helpful staff. The outdoor BBQ with views over the Finke River at the base of the sun illuminated bluff is a hard to beat for alfresco dining.

Stayed 3 nights which is enough time to visit and walk all the gorges. Staff made us fell welcome and were really helpful. The accommodation is very basic but the shower was hot and the bed warm. If you're touring the Red Centre you must visit Glen Helen.

Dear Leo H, Wow what great feedback! I am so pleased that you had the time to stay with us for 3 nights; it is essential to slow down and take your time to truly experience The West Macdonnell Ranges and it seems that is exactly what you did. I am pleased to hear that you found the staff helpful...

Rooms overlooking the finke river stunk (I suspect the plumbing) and we were very disappointed with the Barra meal. The portion was tiny, the cauliflower purée almost non existent and the apple and walnut chunks (Waldorf?) decorating the plate were ordinary. I definitely could cook a better meal than this. Not sure why they get so many awards? Maybe it...

Dear Kerrie C, Thank you for sharing your experience of Glen Helen Homestead Lodge. I am sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your meal; I have passed your feedback on to our chef for consideration. We stayed two nights as part of an organised trek along sections of the Larapinta trail. We walked into the resort from Ormiston Gorge, about an easy days hike. Given the location the rooms were better than expected. Clean and tidy yet basic. But that is all we expected to find in the middle of a arid region where it...

We camped here but used the restaurant for dinner and breakfast. I would prefer not to use their camping area again but would return to stay in the accommodation which overlooks the absolutely delightful gorge. The old buildings are full of interest with maps and photos - and the crackling fire, on a not particularly cold morning, added a warmth...

It is only 133 from Alice Springs on a good road so it is...

Used homestead as a base for Steve Parish Photo course.
