Nestled in a serene and picturesque setting, The Boathouse Pulau Tioman captivates guests with its tranquil environment and private beach. The staff's warm and attentive service enhances the experience, although occasional slow service has been noted.
While the spacious and comfortable rooms are generally well-received, some visitors have encountered issues with ants. Despite the allure of modern amenities and a well-maintained property, the value proposition is questioned by some travelers due to the high cost and certain unfulfilled service expectations.

My stay at The Boathouse on Pulau Tioman was a truly wonderful experience from start to finish. The journey was smooth, and I was warmly greeted by the friendly staff as I arrived at the secluded resort, brought by boat from the Jetty Genting. The warm welcome, complete with a refreshing drink and a fruit platter in my room, made me feel immediately at home.
The room itself was spacious, beautifully furnished, and equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay: a coffee machine, kettle, fridge, and a large, cozy king-size bed. The privacy and tranquility of the location, with only a small neighboring backpacker hostel, were perfect for completely unwinding.
A big thank you goes out to Thevan, the hotel manager, and his team—Noor, Prem, Ravin, along with Jiaa, Aiman, Pica, Paul and all the others. These wonderful personalities made my stay truly special, going above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. Their hard work and friendliness really stood out, and they made me feel part of the Boathouse family.
I also want to give special recognition to the dive crew led by Jen Pippin and my dive buddies Fiona, Amir, Fizi, Nas, and Acoy. And a huge thanks to my instructor Theo Dray for guiding me through my Divemaster renewal and the EFR course. His professionalism and teaching made the whole experience deeply enriching. Diving with this crew is pure fun, and I can’t wait to come back for more. We’ll definitely spot that whale shark next time! ;)
A special mention goes to Chef Andrew, whose cooking was consistently delicious throughout my stay. His culinary skills, combined with the hard work of his team, made every meal a treat. Even during a longer stay, I found plenty of variety and great flavors in the dishes they served.
The resort provides a wide range of leisure activities: table tennis, billiards, video games, volleyball, and board games, as well as a pool and sun loungers for relaxing. The resort is surrounded by a dense jungle, making hikes adventurous and a bit challenging. There are also daily events which are fun and well-organized, but never pushy—you can join in or simply enjoy the peace and quiet.
Although the room price is slightly higher for the region, the value for money is absolutely fair considering the excellent location, the top-notch service, and the privacy. I especially enjoyed the rich breakfast buffet, which offered everything from hot dishes to fresh fruit and salads.
Overall, The Boathouse is a fantastic place to relax, unwind, and enjoy nature. Thanks to the amazing team, the dive crew, and the fantastic food, my stay was filled with great memories, and I can’t wait to return!

The first sight of the resort gives you the most serene feel. Not a huge resort but a cosy one. The moment you disembark from the boat you are welcomed by the staff and you are ferried by buggy to the reception. Despite a big group ahead of me, the check-in was done efficiently. Thank you Pica. They will personally bring you to your room for a quick orientation. The room is breath taking as well as the placement of the bed allows you to wake up to the sight of the beautiful beach. It is a fairly new resort, about a month old, so I had to manage my expectations with the restaurant menu and choices during the breakfast and dinner buffet. However, the food from the choices offered is absolutely delicious. They partner with a local sea sport centre for your activities but I heard that they are establishing their own is in the works.

My family and I had an amazing 3D2N stay in the Beachfront Bungalow. The location is very serene and peaceful, the staff there are all amazing and hospitable. We took a ferry ride to Genting Jetty and was greeted by their staff who helped us with our bags and we road a 10-15 minute boat ride to the hotel. The welcome drinks were really nice, and our room was great. My kids loved the game room, with the ping pong table, arcade game console, foosball and several other games available. The WiFi was strong too!
My only recommendation is to increase kid friendly food selection in the Atap Seed Cafe menu, as my kids had very limited choices that weren't spicy or covered in some type of sauce. Breakfast was good with a variety of selection, but lunch and dinner was just okay-ish. The crispy burger I ordered for lunch was too salty and the buns were burnt and tasted like charcoal.
But overall, I highly recommend this hotel if you want to relax and unwind, it really is a serene and peaceful place. We would definitely come again.

The resort is a 5 mins boat ride from Genting jetty. Generally, the room is very clean and spacious. The water flowing from the shower tap is big and the bed provides is very comfortable to sleep in.
However, since we are paying a premium rates for the stay, we would expect a little more from the resort. There seems to be an ant problem in our room. These insects could be seen crawling around our room most of the time. Moreover, our beach front bungalow lacks of a door bell so it’s quite hard for us to hear the room service staff bring items or food over to our place.
There is only one restaurant there for you to dine your meals so make sure you bring ample cash or credit card.
Resort also provides gaming room amenities for your kids and there are also water activities (Snorkelling or diving) for you to choose from their in house dive shop.
All and all, this resort does provide a holistic experience for people who are looking for a “one stop” vacation =)

This newly build resort has great location and newest facility on Tioman. As resort is bigger hotel group i can’t explain how come the service can be so poor. To start with basic expectation any time I would seat at the pool deck it either took extra long time for someone to serve us and i had to ask for the menu or drink. The restaurant had shortage of supplies and chef could not cook all the dishes or it had to improvise. At such location the seafood was very limited and explanation given was challenges with cargo. I am can be considered as experienced traveller in Malaysia as as i vistied many hotels and places and have lived here for 2 years. The good part is that hotel manager asked for feedback and i hope very soon it will be recovered because the hotel and location is unique and place is true gem.

We stayed 3 nights in a beachfront villa for a short staycation. We booked directly through their website. It's one of the newest resorts on the island so it's expensive but you get your money's worth. The hospitality was the best part for us, especially Ravin, Nur and Zura. The entire staff was so friendly and welcoming.
There aren't any options for food in the village apart from the restaurant at the resort but the quality of food is great and the buffet has a good variety every day so you don't get bored. The a la carte menu, however, could be expanded. I'm sure the chefs are more than capable.
There's a good sized pool and a rec room with table tennis, board games and arcade games. The beach is private and well maintained. There's a dead coral on one side of the beach so you can't swim there.
They provide different snorkeling and diving packages and Tioman has the best diving available.

This is Tioman reimagined: a lovely secluded little resort that’s accessible by a short speedboat ride from Genting Jetty (itself about 1:30 hours by catamaran from Mersing).
It’s a great place to spend a few days to get away from it all. Great service from attentive staff, wonderful meals from a chef who will not hesitate to serve you off-menu items on request.
The rooms were comfortable and the strong supply of hot water in the showers were a real treat after a day out at sea.
The fledgling dive resort is staffed by very knowledgable and engaging guides/ instructors who definitely know the best dive spots.

We stayed at The Boathouse at the end of July for 3 nights. Initially we booked another place at Tioman but decided last minute to change to a bit more luxury and seaview. We were so happy The Boathouse could host us!
When we arrived the sea was rough so our journey from Genting to Nipah beach was challenging. We were all soaking wet but upon arrival this was quickly forgotten as we were welcomed in the most friendly and warm way by Felix (resort manager), Theven (operational manager) and other members of staff.
Theven explained the restaurant principles of a small selection of choices but flexibility towards preferences. This was no lie as the chef prepared beautiful desserts on 2 nights: the best cheesecake we tasted in Malaysia! We noticed other guests receiving special dishes as well. The quality of the buffet lunch and diner was excellent, so was breakfast.
We stayed in a beachfront room and the children were on the topfloor of the building behind us. Both rooms were beautiful, spacious and comfortabel.
The resort has a lovely pool and nice beach. Yes there are some sandflies but this didn't bother us too much. There are lovely cats living there that were a massive plus for our children. With low tide you can walk a long way in the direction of the kampung and towards the other direction you can undertake a jungle walk towards Genting. We did this guided by Salam who made us feel safe during the not so easy and very hot walk.
The only dissapointment was the sea who kept rough during our stay making it impossible to snorkle or dive. With the clear waters we were used to at Perhentian island I think it will be even more perfect. This means we will have to come back to find out :-) !
We loved our stay, the warm hospitality, nice food, comfortabel rooms, beach, jungle and pool. Thank you lovely people! We will be back!

While the resort was new and the staff were attentive & friendly, the price point was not justifiable. Seeing that it was an isolated resort, I would have liked more activities. There were constantly ants in the room, and the bathroom had this lingering sewage like smell [which is surprising for a resort that just opened].
From the cost of accommodations to the drinks to the diving/snorkelling activities, Tioman is generally very much more pricier than other better beach resorts.

One of the best and memorable trips that we've had as a family of 2 adult and 2 kids. The Boathouse is definitely a must go family-friendly resort when you're in Tioman. Great, great hospitality and wonderful service. When we went, it was relatively new, so the resort itself is still learning. It's okay to us though considering the fact that the facilities provided was very adequate, enough to keep the whole family entertained and well occupied. Although we had an issue with ants in the room - it was handled well by the housekeeping. But anyway, what's a village-like dwelling without ants, right?
Anyway, special shoutout to Thevan for ensuring that our needs are well taken care of, always been there greeting us, chatting with us to ensure that our stay is comfortable.
Andrew, for ensuring that we're well fed with great food! Should try his Nasi Goreng Kampong and steamed Red Snapper.
And to the team at the Dive Centre - Theo and Achoi. Thank you so much for rekindling the interest in diving for my wife and I again. Thank you for guiding us off and literally under the water and being super patient with us. Thank you too for running an excellent above-water, on-the-boat child-minding service to take care of our young ones as they snorkeled and giving a peace of a mind when we're underwater. You guys are simply awesome!
Hope to see ALL of you again, someday!
