We stayed here one night after our drive up the west coast. It is only a kilometer or so from the turn to visit French Pass which is very much worth the drive. We had a two bedroom cottage and it was clean, well equipped and comfortable. We arrived around 20:30 and had called ahead to let the reception know we would be arriving late. They were happy to accommodate. Check out was also very easy as we just dropped off the keys at the front desk and were on our way. If the location suits you, I would definitely recommend it.

We booked this accommodation as it had a restaurant on site. The restaurant closed at 4pm, and there was little left in the cabinet. Fortunately we had sandwiches left from lunch. The site is miles from anywhere and there is nowhere to go for an evening meal. The units are very comfortable and spotless. It was well equipped but we had really wanted self-catering for breakfast and anticipated eating out for dinner. You cannot park outside the unit to unload and so it is not disabled friendly. There are no ramps into the units and they are wheel chair unfriendly. Furthermore payment had to be made upfront. There is a run down tennis court and a couple of basketball hoops on the same ground. There is a vast open area around the units. On the morning we left we wanted to have a cooked breakfast at the Restaurant. It was closed at 8.45 am. Wifi not consistent. One night none at all and no way to connect with the owners. We are not surprised that this site is for sale. A lot more could be done to make it more customer friendly.

Having driven past the entrance to this ex-logging camp many times, it has now become my go-to stop for lunch or brunch in the weekend. It’s just over 30 minutes from Nelson and it’s worth the drive to enjoy great country-style food in a tranquil environment. The coffee is excellent, and I usually have a tasty piece of cheesecake or apple strudel to go with it. And then a second coffee for the road. Good access and parking and lots of bird life.

We stopped on our way to Nelson for tea and scones. Delicious! Beautiful surroundings, truely lovely people, honest, reliable and caring. Recommended for a brief stop or a longer stopover. Quiet comfortable and intimate away from the hustle and bustle of Nelson.

Me and the Grandie loved this place. We set out the cones and played some rugby. The place was quiet, well-appointed, welcoming and overall, a great place to stay. The Host-Folks were very pleasant and accomodating.

Called in to Mount Richmond Estate Forester Cafe for a coffee and a slice yesterday on a day trip from Blenheim. Absolutely delicious! The apricot and coconut slice was just to die for, and the coffee was great too!

We decided to stop here after receiving very poor service in Havelock We are so glad we did The food was very good and we thought under- priced for the quality The setting is beautiful, tranquil and the service so very friendly We will stop here everytime now Also - it is dog friendly but if you don't have your own, don't worry Dakota and Shylo(?) the gorgeous retrievers will keep you company

My friends booked me in as they were already staying here and had been here before. This is a former logging camp now revamped into well appointed self catering cottages. I have two bedrooms, a kitchen, a living room and a bathroom. Every thing is spotless and comfortable. TV, wifi and a restaurant on site. The location is beautiful in the mountains not far from Nelson. I'd say it is less than an hour into Nelson and a beautiful drive. Very quiet with lots of scenic beauty in this corner of NZ. Quiet, restful. This would be a great place for a retreat, conference, workshop, or holiday.
