Went to have a look and got told off by the lady at the office for looking around. She was really rude. The showers are a big health hazard wouldnt even wash my dog in them incase it caught something. There are plenty of nicer places to stay then this run down health risk so call camping ground.

Well sheltered campsites, close to beach, aswell as penguin colony. Watched penguins arrive in the evening from our tent site above which was amazing, toilets and other facilities could definitely do with a bit of a spruce up.

Stayed here 14 years ago...returned plus our kids aged 6 and 9, and nothing has changed..just how we like it. I suspect that some reviewers want the boring homogeneity of nice playground, tick, lovely showers, tick, good laundry... The showers and toilets here are old and random. Don't try and use the kitchen. Come prepared. The flax cocoons are great...

We stayed here with out family of 5, 3 children under 10. The price was appropriate to the facilities which do need a upgrade. The showers we didn't use due to condition and only 2 toilets each sex which were basic to say the least. But saying all this the sites were well protected from the wind and the bay...

This campingsite is dated but very beautiful as it is created. Everybody has a sheltered spot and if you are lucky with direct ocean view. Seeing sunset is remarkable over here. And as at many spots in NZ you can enjoy the stars during the night. Camping is a 5 minute walk, to petrified forrest with the yellow eyed pengiuns....

We stayed here 2 years ago and love it so much we stayed again this year. I agree with some of the other reviews, especially the showers etc, I wouldn't use them, in fairness, but my hubby said nice and hot. Last time we stayed in amongst the grasses but this time decided to pay just $20 for a non...

This campsite trades on its location and the attraction of being so close to the lovely beach where the Hector's dolphins come in to the shallow water to play with swimmers or you can walk to the rocks in the evening to hopefully see little blue penguins emerging from the sea. Great natural events but this campsite is a man-made...

This camp ground offers the most basic services. It is ideally situated, giving access to both the bay where the rare Hector's dolphins can be seen and the shy yellow-eyed penguins can be observed. That said...the camp facilities are horrible...toilets didn't flush, water is not potable, the kitchen was small and poorly equipped, didn't risk the showers!

We stayed here with our two kids for two nights in a tent on one of the unpowered tent sites in the sheltering 'flax forest'. Whereas the site facilities were very basic (1 star deduction) the site is beautifully located right on the cliffs of Curio Bay and offers the most unique experience to camp right next to a small...

They have good sites for camping with more open areas to camp or individual spots secluded by flax plants. This was our second trip there and could fairly easily get a spot to camp but weekends are more crowded. The bathrooms aren't the best but the view of the bay, dolphins, penguins, petrified forest and waves make up for it...
