A group of us from Kerikeri rode the twin coast trail ths weeked. On finishing we had lunch at the Horeke pub. We enjoyed a generous lunch of fresh fish and chips and warm hospitality. A great spot and well worth a visit, you won't be disappointed. The accommodation looks great too.

Stayed at the Horeke tavern after completing the twin coast trail ride. Peter is a very friendly obliging host. Room was large, clean and had the most stunning view you could get of the Hokianga Harbour. We enjoyed an ice cold cider/beer after our long ride then had the best fresh snapper and chips we have ever eaten! Peter also...

We stayed at Horeke at the end of 2 days of doing the Twin Coast cycle trail. The historic pub & hotel is lovely and our room had a stunning view out over the Hokianga harbour. We enjoyed cold drinks, friendly service and a wonderful meal of fresh snapper, chips & salad. Peter is an excellent host and we highly...

A beautiful setting right on the water's edge, outdoor seating enabled us to sit in the sun and then watch a stunning sunset. The proprietor (Peter) is very friendly and obliging. This historic tavern is well positioned for staying either before or after the cycle trail. Apparently Peter is getting a website developed which will making booking to stay here...

We rode in on the cycle trail. We were wet and bedraggled. We were the only idiots mad enough to be out in the weather. We were the only ones to arrive at the pub. Peter the owner, quickly made us some amazing toasted sandwiches and some hot coffee. He then entertained us with stories of the local history. A...

What a find. Situated on the upper reaches of Hokianga Harbour, the Horeke Tavern's location is stunning. Our rooms were generous and the views over the Waihou River lovely. We were very well looked after.

Stayed here after finishing the cycle trail because the other place in the area was strangely unavailable due the absence of the host for some inexplicable reason. Peter is a great host and we had a great meal of local snapper. He then entertained us with some great stories about the history of the local region. The room was comfortable,...

The Horeke Hotel was an unexpected gem. The second to oldest hotel in the country provides a great welcome. Having ridden the Twin Coast cycle trail we were ready for some comfort. Peter the owner, gave us a really informative and illustrated potted history of the area as we sat over our drinks in the bar. Dinner was sumptuous with...

Nice place to finish up for a drink after cycling from Kaikohe. Staff were friendly, the setting is beautiful. The owner has fitted out three beautiful rooms with ensuite for accommodation, we didn't stay but looked through the rooms, very nicely done. Someone needs to set up a cafe with counter food, the cyclists are coming now that the trail...

“The rooms facing over the Hokianga Harbour would no doubt be the best. It is very quiet here so you'll sleep well.”
