We didn't stay at Finca Magdalena, but walked up to do the coffee tour. When we got there, we ordered a drink in the restuarant area. My friend (who spoke enough passable Spanish to get us by on the trip) apparently didn't speak Spanish to the liking of the staff, who rolled their eyes at her. I was appalled. We...

We arrived at Finca Magdalena after half day travelling on the local buses, knackered and sweaty. Some locals recommended this place, but forgot to mention that it is 1.5 km uphill (which can get tough with a over 20kg backpack). When we arrived there we were greeted by a not so friendly girl who had no patients to explain much...

The accommodations are very basic. The view of the lake with Concepcion in the background is astonishingly beautiful and a lovely place to enjoy a peaceful Toña and watch the bats and birds at the end of the day. The staff are humble but friendly. The double rooms are minimalist and not very private for the price -- walls end...

I thought that this pace what an amazing place to be at, hell it was almost a Hostel it was great to stay at a co-op after doing a weeks worth of service at the community of Mesa Sur in a rural section of Ni. The land was breathtaking, and beautiful even when it rained. I found that bathrooms were...

We did not stay at Finca Magdalena but did go to see the grounds and went on a coffee tour. When we arrived there were no English speaking tour guides available so we went with a Spanish guide. So glad that we did. Our guide Felix was very patient with us and spoke slowly in Spanish as we are not...

Beautiful land, beautiful area. We got to Finca Magdalena because its where you can hike up Volcan Maderas. The buildings and all looked a bit run down when we got there, the bathrooms were disgusting, many things were broken and falling apart, but the area was beautiful and thats whats important. Everyone always says that you have to have a...

Simply loved this place! I visited on motorcycle one day and hiked to the petroglyphs, but was so captured by the old coffee warehouse that serves as the sleeping area and ESPECIALLY the second floor terrace with its fantastic view of Lake Nicaragua and Volcan Concepción that I had to go back. My purpose was to read, write, think and...

We were exploring on a budget and had a tent with us. It seemed there was a place to camp here. So the bus drops us off, for those climbing the hill in the mid-day sun with packs, it's probably about 20 minutes up. Turns out there is no real camping area, but there is a covered concrete slap that...

The place has an amazing potential, but it's in an awful condition! Mind you, I'm used to traveling on a budget, so I don't have high expectations concerning the quality of the places I sleep in, but cleanness is something I'm not ready to let go off. And Finca Magdalena is dirty! We arrived late in the evening and the...

I´m sorry, but I don´t understand why this place is frequently recommended. The house is in poor condition, the rooms too. As an attraction is nothing special. Petroglyphs can be found everywhere on the island. And a visit to a coffee farm is useless if there is no guidance or explanation. The road to get to Finca Magdalena is tired...

“We stayed in a private room with a shared bathroom. The bathrooms are downstairs from the rooms, and there was a group of really loud people there the first night, so our room was pretty noisy. The 2nd night was great because we were some of the only people there!”
