Property's Favourite Review
Amazing location and hats off to Simon and Michelle who obviously are extremely passionate about their lodges and to ensure guests have a relaxing, fun time. 2 adults, wee boy and pup couldn't fault the place, or the area. So many places we were unable to explore, but Findhorn Bay right down to Lossiemouth has so many interesting, lovely places to visit. Forres itself is a cracking spot, the lodge itself was home from home, comfortable, clean (thanks to the cleaning team as they obviously care!). The introduction to the lodge and area discussion was a really nice touch, thanks Simon. We will surely be back to try and cover more ground to visit!

Hi Alex, thank you for your 5 bubble review, you are totally right, we are extremely passionate about our lodges. Our ongoing intention is to ensure that guests have a comfortable, 'home from home' stay with us. This starts right from the moment a guest books with us by having a choice of lodges, and competitive rates. Ensuring each lodge is clean (thanks for the compliment to our ladies!) , linen soft and comfortable. Guests are always personally greeted upon arrival, taken to their lodge and shown where everything is etc and then our discussion and map on the lovely places to visit, all the way through to guests departing, which then many, many times leads to a return visit, there is so much to see, right on our door step, but also a great base for further explorations. So, again thanks for your kind comments, a pleasure having you all with us, we look forward to seeing you again. Simon & Michelle

We stayed in the Dava lodge for several nights. The lodge is lovely, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Peaceful location. The grounds and mini loch are beautiful. There's a path to walk your dog through the woods. Our dog Lola loved it. We would recommend it to everyone.

Thank you for your review, Dava lodge is one of our popular 2 bedroom lodges and as you say the woodland walk is ideal for dogs (and their 2 legged friends!) . We hope to see you and Lola again very soon. Simon & Michelle

We stayed for 4 nights and cannot fault the property, clean, comfortable and spacious with everything you need with a home from home feel. The owners are amazing, very friendly and helpful with a great knowledge of the surrounding area and happy to help with any questions or queries. Super dog friendly, our rottie absolutely loved his holiday and made friends with the dog next door to our lodge! I can't rate this property enough and would totally recommend if exploring the area. Everything is relatively close with beautiful beaches and woodland walks etc approx 20 - 30 min drive away, the town of Forres is about 10 mins away.

Hi Jill, thanks for your review, it was a pleasure having you all with us, I watched the friendship develop with the two dogs, it was great to see, your dog was a real pleasure to have around. Really pleased that you enjoyed the area, as you say all close by, and even closer the 28 acres of woodland the lodges are set in. A "home from home" is one of our main objectives, be that for a few nights or longer, and you can be assured there is another welcome for you here at any time, so, we hope to see you again soon. We stayed in the two bed Cluney lodge as a party of 5 (if you include the dog) we met with Simon on arrival and he took us to the lodge personally to show us around and highlight key aspects of the lodge and surrounds. The main objective was to have fun and relax.... And relax is what we did.... NY day was chilled in the morning with a home cooked brunch then to stretch the legs, the humans took a drive to Roseile park... Absolutely stunning..... The lodge was spotless and everything you could need was supplied. The beds were so comfortable as well. It truly was a home from home experience and although we never got a chance to meet Michelle, the reviews in the guestbook spoke very highly of her as well as simon.... All in all, such a lovely weekend to spend with family. Would highly recommend and we hope to be back in th near future Jill, alex, paige, gran and Baxter the bulldog x

Had a really lovely stay - thanks so much Simon! While many places say they are dog or people friendly, this place stood out for its absence of petty notices and lists of 'rules' that you see elsewhere, that seem to assume all visitors are trouble and not to be trusted! Here you felt genuinely welcome as adults and it seemed like that was in turn respected. Lovely to be able to walk in the woods directly from our cabin. Also the rate for the electricity used was very fair (5p cheaper per unit than at home!). All told, so happy we booked here when there was little availablity in the area and at a very reasonable price.

Hello & thanks for your review. We are pleased you enjoyed your time with us in one of our 3 bedroom lodges. We set out with all of our guests to be very much a "home from home", whats most important is that everyone feels they can relax fully and enjoy their lodge, the woodlands they are surrounded by and the local area. We always try to look after our guests, a fair price for your accommodation and as you mention a fair price for the electric useage is all part of this. Once again, thanks for your review, we look forward to seeing you again in the future . Simon & Michelle

Pros: very friendly owner (though some jokes were from old times and were... well, chauvinistic), lots of information with a map on close by places to visit, take always and where to eat out. beautiful surroundings, the place has own 1/2 a mile walk, so very good for morning walk with a dog and lovely play area for kids with a space to play badminton. Lovely beaches 20 minute drive away and fantastic ice cream to enjoy. Cons: we were aware there is no washing machine in a cottage but not that the laundry room can only be used from 2pm. Also, I had no idea we would have to pay for each wash. Bathroom must have had an underfloor leak and although the owner said it is condensation, that was definitely not the case. When we used shower, the floor would be wet from underneath when stepped on, while when using a bath, it was not happening. Also, in some places behind the beds, there was white mould on the walls. Not a lot but not a nice thing to deal with. I would highly recommend this place for a short stay but longer than a week can be tiring, as you have to drive at least an hour to visit places.

Thanks for your review, we are pleased you on the whole found our lodges to be comfortable. In 8 years here we have always tried to be friendly as you say, certainly not as you describe, but I guess some folks can interpret things one way, and most another, my apologies if I offended. The laundry room has 2 washing machines and 2 dryers, they cost us to run of course, the opening times for this facility and the charges are stated within the FAQ's on our web site, however, you may not have seen them, and the 2pm doesn't apply when the lodge is not in use by us, or others, its a shared facility, for us (we wash all of our own linen hence why its so lovely), and other guests..... its open 24hrs a day. As I discussed with you, and you will recall I responded to your concern directly by visiting the lodge, in warm weather ( and it was very warm when you stayed) condensation can does does form on the toilet cistern (Its refereed to as sweating), cold water Vs hot room, this can look like a leak, it isnt, opening a window helps somewhat but I only wish I could control the weather! The lodge you choose and stayed in is specially designed for those with mobility issues, as such there is no step to the front of shower tray, given this there is an extra drain to the front, and yes, the tray doesnt contain the water as well as a stepped tray would, but this lodge needs the accessibility. It certainly doesnt create water underneath , and as you will recall we supply 2 mats for for the bathrooms, a full lodge with everyone showering will create wet mats under foot (just like at home) these can easily be dried outside on the patio area, or you could have requested fresh ones. The white mould you refer to is not mould, the three bedroom lodges are all pine inside, its again a natural reaction to warmer weather, in enclosed spaces it occurs, not a lot as you made note to , but a bit on occasion yes....its a lodge, in the woods, they react naturally to their surroundings. We are pleased again that you followed our guidance on the lovely local places, and those you mention (and I described many more with you) are within 20 minutes drive, sure , as anywhere set in the country, you are away from the hustle and bustle , and thats why many people stay with us for both short breaks, a week or 2/3 (yes people do stay that long, many return guests stay 2+ weeks a few times a year!). With us its not really about being directly on-top of everything to visit , some things are really local , with others, its the opposite really.... as with many places in Scotland , you have to drive to visit it, how long you drive is a personal choice. None the less, 4 out 5 means you must have enjoyed your time, and I hope you understand my reasoning and explanations above, had you had mentioned anything else (beyond the cistern) to me whilst with us, I would again have responded directly, a shame you didn't really, as for those things which are within our control I would always seek to assist or explain. All the best, Simon & Michelle.

The lodges are located in a beautiful and peaceful area. There is a lovely woodland walk just outside the lodge and a children's play area next to a badminton court. The lodge itself was very spacious, great for young children and families. The rooms were very comfortable, and the kitchen very well equipped. The lodge was spotlessly clean and the beds and bedding were extremely comfortable. Our lodge had a conservatory which looked over the lochan. Great for relaxing in and watching the wildlife outside. The owner was very friendly and accommodating, will definitely be back.
