The Coldstreamer Inn, located in the heart of Gulval, is well known for it’s fantastic food and great ales. An ideal inn for those looking for a peaceful, warm welcomed stay, and just off the doorstep a beautiful granite drinking fountain stands, you can also visit the ‘Pirate’s Grave’, in the gorgeous Parish Church graveyard, where lays a man from Marazion who was a pirate and a smuggler buried in 1753, opposite The Coldstreamer. And for a small distance away, it’s only 1.3 miles to the Penzance Harbour where you can enjoy a lovely stroll along the beachfront. Each quaint room is spacious and offers an en suite, allowing you to enjoy a comfortable stay with your own privacy and when need be free wifi can be obtained in the public areas, so you can sit in our bar area with a cold drink and catch up on the gossip at home. The Coldstreamer offers a traditional pub grub menu, with fresh specials updated weekly.

Detailed Reviews
Lovely old pub with comfortable and clean room. Good food, drink and convenient for Penzance, Lands End and many other destinations. Staff are warm and welcoming.
Onsite parking and easy access, Penzance is about a 20 minute walk to the heart of the town or about a 5 minute drive.

We booked here for Easter Sunday for myself and 9 other family members. Unfortunately on the day, my Dad, who has a terminal disease felt too unwell to make it to the pub. The pub suggested a takeaway service and were so accommodating in organising food to be taken away. Whilst waiting for the food my husband and I had a drink and the bar staff were very friendly.
Once ready, the food was hot and delicious. We had several roasts, meals off the main menu and children's dishes. Needless to say there were no empty plates at the end of it. The pub even dished it up on their own plates and allowed us to take them back.
They made it possible for us to still have an Easter Sunday dinner as a family! Thank you, if we are ever back, we will return!

A little outside crowded Penzance, the inn overlooks the square of a small, quiet and characteristic village.
It is very convenient because it is close to the A30.
Very friendly staff, clean rooms and bathroom, at least ours, spacious and, above all, with a window. You can also dine there for around £30 each with well-made traditional food

We are local people who called in for lunch recently, there was no one else in the pub at the time. We enquired about the Specials board and were told they only really served sandwiches or baguettes at lunchtime so we ordered sandwiches.
As we went to pay we saw them bring out hot meals - from the Specials board menu - to some people sitting outside who were clearly "regulars" that the landlord knew.
When we said to the girl at the till that there appeared to be food being served from the Specials board she just said "oh sorry, I forgot" which added insult to injury.
We were trying to support a local business as we understand that they have lost trade during the lockdown but after such treatment we won't be going back. Surely the rules should be the same for everybody and not special treatment given to mates of the landlord under the noses of other customers.
We won't return and we won't be recommending this pub to any of our friends or family.

Was staying at Kenegie Manor up the road so this was our 'local'. The first time we went here for a meal the staff were attentive our meal arrived promptly and was delicious and was an overall good experience. The second time we went was completely different. The beef bourginon special was really no more than oxtail soup with loads of gravy. Tasty but not much substance. The bar staff were not attentive. No one cleared our dishes away or asked us if we wanted dessert or another drink or coffee. We did not leave a service tip. At one point both staff were outside smoking. I assume there was someone minding the bar but I couldn't see from where I was sitting. The first time we went I would rate as a 5 but the second time probably only a 2.

I don't normally write reviews but this place was particularly bad. A few things in particular during our 2 night stay:
1. Not hot water throughout the stay. We flagged to the manager about 3 times and each time were assured it would be mended within the hour and it never was
2. Rooms were never cleaned during the stay
3. Breakfast wasn't served on the first morning due to kitchen problems
4. We asked to see the manager on the last night and we were told to wait for 5 minutes. After an hour he did apologise about our trip and told us we would have some money off including for breakfast on the second night that we paid for.
5. Upon leaving the manager told us the money had now been refunded but this was a lie and were never received any reimbursement. We paid for a breakfast we never had.
Really confused by the other good reviews on here. Our experience was dire.

We visited this charming pub for an afternoon tea. Everything was just perfect from the beautiful fresh sandwiches to the amazing home made cake and scones which were made by the landlady. If you are visiting the area then the Coldstreamer is a place I would highly recommend.

Visited the area on holiday and heard great things before arriving. Really lived up to the expectations!
A proper local pub, staff were extremely attentive and polite. Made us both feel like we’d been drinking there for years.
The owner Josh was a stand up guy, very hands on and approachable. Can clearly see that he cares about the pub and everyone who stops by.
The head chef Dan has worked magic with his menu, I would highly recommend the chicken loaded chips. Pricing is extremely good for the quality and portion size of the food.
All in all, the staff and service of this pub was a genuine highlight of our trip, we will most definitely be returning in the future.

Local and very cozy Inn with B&B.
Clean and large rooms.
I got the fish of the day which was well cooked and good.
The host, Michael, is incredibly helpful and friendly.
Several evenings there is entertainment for the inn's guests and local residents.
I attended a Sunday jam where the locals brought their instruments to play and sing along.
All in all a really good buy.

We heard this village pub wasn’t open but when we passed through noticed that it had re-opened, has the family had eaten here before decided to have a meal. Booked direct and given details about their new menu launching the day of our visit.
We ordered a child’s scampi, an adult scampi, the steak frites, crispy chicken burger, and the beef burger with a side of onion rings. All the food is freshly prepared and cooked which takes a little longer but all our party was not disappointed all the dishes were fantastic and the onion rings crispy and delicious.
We ordered desserts that chef makes and well what can be said other then exceptional and delightful.
We enjoyed soft drinks and Guinness that was said to be a great pint.
Hats off to Jade in the bar she was very polite and a credit to the establishment felt that she had more than one pair of hands to juggle all the orders and customers.
A clean and cosy pub well worth a visit.
