Detailed Reviews
We have just spent a week in a platinum apartment (no 12) in the main building.
The staff were excellent at going through Covid protocols on arrival but they were still very friendly and helpful. They couldn’t do enough for us. Check in was easy. We were issued with some drink vouchers for the first day which I think might have been as a gesture because of other restrictions.
The bar/pub staff were very friendly and helpful. The menu was a bit limited but to be expected as the park was about to close for the season and things were running out. Our meals were excellent standard pub fare. The salad was fresh, the hot food properly hot and tasty. There was also a delivery option which was sadly from a different menu and the web ordering system was a bit of a pain to use but the food arrived before schedule and again, was well cooked, hot, tasty and plentiful.
The weather was terrible so we didn’t explore the park much but it looked really well maintained outside, pretty flowers and beer garden benches. The resident cat ASBO was out most mornings and greeted us with a meow for treats !
The apartment: we did not hear a sound from anyone once inside. It is very spacious and decorated to a modern a very good standard. We did find it very warm and couldn’t figure out changing the temperature but it was very useful for drying our wet clothes every day. The beds were very comfortable and bedding is provided. Having an en-suite as well as a bathroom was a bonus. The information does tell you to bring your own towels but we did have bath mats and a kitchen tea towel provided. The kitchen is well equipped and we had everything we needed. There were a few little things that needed improving which which we left feedback on but in no way would they be enough to stop us recommending the apartment or the park.
Location - the village of Gulval is a maximum of 10 minutes from Penzance and there are a number of big supermarkets and well priced fuel stations to hand. This was a good base for us to explore Hayle, St Ives, Lands End, the Lizard and everywhere in between

I travelled down to Kenegie Manor on 4th July, to be honest it felt like our Independence Day let alone the USA’s. The first thing I noticed were how magnificent the grounds looked, now this isn’t anything unusual but after three months of not going very far from my home it just struck me what an effort the staff at Kenegie had put in against the difficult situation Covid-19 has brought to us all.
The whole site had Social Distancing signs in place, information regarding Covid-19 was readily available at reception, sanitiser available wherever needed, and a thermal imaging thermometer on entry to the bar. The bar area had screens in place to protect both the staff and customers and a one was system was mapped out and easy to adhere to. I ate in the bar every evening and felt safe at all times, food great by the way. Also there is a web site where you can order your food and have it delivered to your unit. There are plans to open the swimming pool on July 27th following the latest of the government’s easing of lockdown restrictions.
All is good, enjoy your time at Kenegie people.

HI TonyWalesAndCornwall. Wow ! What a fantastic five star review - we really do appreciate it. We were delighted to hear that our uncompromising efforts to keep all our lovely guests, staff, vistors and leaseholders safe is not going unnoticed. Thank you also for your comments regarding the new menu for 2020 in the Old Forge Bar. Did you try the new Chef To U takeway service ? Yes - the swimming pool does re-open on 27th July 2020 and all guests on arrival after Hikvision Thermoscreening will receive pool passes with a "password" to book their swimming timeslots on-line from 8am on the day they wish to swim only. (We only accept bookings on the day you want to swim, so everyone gets a fair chance to swim) We really appreciate your comments about the grounds! All the best !

We came to Kenegie Manor Park on 26th April for a week and enjoyed it so much we decided to stay for 2 weeks, we had a silver bungalow and everything provided seemed to be brand new, toaster, microwave, fridge and all kitchen utensils, the cups even still had IKEA stickers on them. All furniture seemed to be new and we assume the bungalow had been recently refurbished and was spotlessly clean.
The park was very peaceful and relaxing and all the staff we met were very friendly and helpful and all the other residents were friendly.
The Forge pub was very nice and although we could only sit outside at this time the food and beer was very good and reasonably priced, they also have a takeaway menu which can be delivered.
We really enjoyed our stay at the park and if we return to Cornwall would definitely stay here again.

This was a last minute booking as everything else in Cornwall seemed to be booked up.
Arrived late on Saturday to a friendly welcome. All things Covid explained clearly.
Had high hopes for this place but was disappointed.
The little terraced house (not really a cottage!) was small, very basic and rather drab.
Open plan kitchen/lounge not too bad. Seemed clean on first impression but the kitchen table was sticky and the plates in the cupboard needed a wash as covered in what appeared to be specks of dust/lint. Fairly spacious lounge area with comfy soft sofas but very small television. Only luke warm water for washing up.
Shower room was tiny. Sink blocked. One toilet roll provided. (There is no advance advice to bring your own).
Bedrooms very small with limited storage.
Outside the back door and front patio, there were cheap dirty plastic chairs and a table. Less than inviting.
We sampled the basket meal from The Old Forge and it was truly awful. Soggy fries and rock hard fish cake and sausages/chewy goujons, really not worth the ÂŁ8 a meal charge.
You have to pay for WiFi in the accommodation.
On the upside, the pool was small but clean and warm.
Friendly staff.
It was a good location for exploring surrounding villages, sights and beaches.
Overall, I would say that this accommodation is really not good value. A shame as it has good potential but needs to be more generous in supplies (toilet roll, toiletries, towels, washing up liquid, free WiFi, etc).
And the whole site/complex needs a lick of paint, a tidy up and a bit of love and care put into it.
Sadly, we won’t be returning but hope the place can improve for the benefit of future visitors.

Hello elb757 Thank you so much for your review. We really do appreciate all feedback. Thankfully, poor reviews are few and far between as you can clearly see. Kenegie Manor Holiday Park is a Tripadvisor 4 Star rated park and in 2020 it was awarded the Travellers Choice award, this being the result of our clients' feedback. We host many 1000's of guests annually and ass you will no doubt realise, the new way of working due to Covid 19 creates a huge additional workload is going to have a few teething problems and everyone is making a huge effort to smooth out the rough edges that it will inevitably create. With the anonymous nature of trip advisor reviews we are so sorry that no approach was made to park management when you were on site as all of these niggles could have been immediately resolved and we genuinely would have gone out of our way to support you. When a guest has left all we can do is apologise and use the feedback in our training sessions for improvement - thank you again. I feel sure that had you gone to see the manager, she would have gone out of her way to look after you and really take care of things. We are in the business of taking care of our guests/ We really were delighted that you found our team friendly and enjoyed our stunning and peaceful location. We really would love the opportunity to get it right for you in the future and hope you would, on reflection consider visiting us in the future. Please do email or call the office and we really will try our hardest to take care of things for you. All the best!

I stay here a lot and it’s always been brilliant, but Ed and his colleagues have made amazing efforts to make sure that everything is as clean and safe as possible for visitors. We went down the first day of post-lockdown opening and the organisation was terrific, making us feel safe and welcome. It’s great in the current climate to know that everything has been thoroughly cleaned and nice to have your own front door - plus you can get food delivered if you aren’t comfortable eating out. Overall, fantastic, can’t recommend enough!

We were so excited to be able to get away this year to our beloved Cornwall. We only had 2 weeks notice so it was difficult to find accommodation but after several days searching we found a Silver Bungalow on the Kenegie Manor Park near Penzance.
We arrived Saturday evening after spending a wonderful day on the beach to be faced with dated, very tired looking, poorly furnished accommodation. We asked to be moved but was told there was nothing else available.I was told the bungalows are privately owned and the owner is responsible for the decor.
The bungalow was P22 and I suggest you give this a miss.
The bed was very uncomfortable with hardly any space around it. The wiring had extension cables everywhere and the bathroom had so many pull cables for lighting, hot water, shower water and towel rail it was laughable.
The soft furnishings didn’t match the settee and the yellow walls were something from my Grandmothers day. The old pine furniture was grubby and the blinds and nets dated.
The housekeeping team had done there best to clean this dated bungalow but it’s difficult to make it look nice with chipped paintwork etc.
The plus was lots of hot water although the shower was so small it was difficult to get into it.
We paid over £800 for this and it certainly wasn’t worth that sort of money. We gave up after 5 days and cut our holiday short and returned home. This is the first time in 48 years we have ever done this.
We will not be visiting again.
I have had to give it a one star rating as you can’t submit a no star.

Hello Beachbaby52 ! Firstly thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review of your holiday this year with us. Obviously, poor reviews are a serious matter to a successful holiday park such as our and we take all feedback very seriously, especially after receiving the Trip Advisor Travellers' Choice Award for 2020. I am so sorry that our Silver Graded accommodation did not live up to your expectations. This certainly has come as a surprise to us as Park 22 is an extremely popular unit and is consistently let throughout the season, and I can confirm we have not received any other such feedback on this unit at any time in the past. You are totally correct to state that that this accommodation is privately owned and the standard of decor is up to the taste of the individual owners and I am sure you understand is subjective. We really do appreciate your comments about the high standards of cleanliness. I will pass these comments over to the housekeeping team - thank you. The Estate Team really have worked so hard this year to provide consistency of service under extremely difficult circumstances to deliver safe, clean, comfortable and affordable accommodation with excellent service. I am sorry that the weather was so poor early / mid this week, with high levels of humidity and fog and maybe this, quite understandably put a bit of a cloud on things ? However, we do sincerely hope that you managed to focus on the positive aspects of your visit to West Cornwall this year and sincerely hope you will consider coming to visit in the future. All the best !

The grounds themselves are really nice, with the swimming easy to access it you book directly through Kenegie. The staff are polite and friendly.
We had an issue with the heating - for no. 33 we had a Smeg heater that didn't work so the first night was freezing, but Andy the maintenance man came and dealt with the issue first thing the next morning; a very nice and professional chap.
Comfortable beds and all in all a cosy little house, although worth mentioning that paying for a silver cottage directly through Kenegie seemed worse than 34 which we booked through Booking.com last year (you do get free swimming through Kenegie which is a bonus).
The only real issue, sadly, is when we had a meal at the Forge restaurant on site. The drinks were fine, no complaints there, but the meals were not. The kiddos pizza was cremated, and for ÂŁ7 I'd have expected more than a 50p mini pizza and some skin on fries that were definitely bought from Lidl. The burgers - at ÂŁ15 each - were well done, and some things were left off. We were missing onion rings and pickles, which admittedly were exchanged for some (overly well done) garlic bread after we had to ask the lovely waitress about this. Little things but when you are paying ÂŁ40 for basic food this should be disclosed with a customer beforehand. Again, no criticism of the ladies behind the bar who were really nice. Lastly, we observed the chef holding his phone whilst assembling a burger: we aren't expecting Michelin level quality food but basic hygiene shouldn't be a lot to ask for. I felt let down in general by the quality of the food as I'd heard great things about it mere hours before, and am not a fussy eater.
All in all we'd gladly stay with Kenegie again, but will not pay that sort of money to eat at the Forge again going forward. I was embarrassed having to ask about missing items, especially as I was aware it wasn't the ladies fault but as the paying customer, I shouldn't have to feel this way, and I felt badly ripped off at ÂŁ40 for food that in all honesty was not up to scratch.
Credit to the bar staff for being as lovely as they are, and Christine on reception for helping us with our house issues. Apologies for having to give a lower score because of the Forge, the accomodation itself is genuinely quite cosy.

We have stayed at Kenegie Manor a few times and every trip has been superb.
This stay was particularly precious after not being able to travel through lockdown.
The platinum apartment was gleaming and ready early for our arrival. A home from home with all the comforts.
Staff have been trained to check guests in with top Covid precautions, yet you still get a friendly smile and warm welcome.
The pool booking system is easy and we even had a VIP swim!
Food is good value for money and the new menu caters for all tastes.
This is a beautiful place with plenty of amenities, and within short distances of the wonders of Cornwall.
We can’t wait to return next year.
Huge thanks to the KM team who never fail to impress, bend over backwards to make your stay comfortable and offer the highest of customer service.

Hello Kimmitheminx - Yet another 5 star review for Kenegie Manor Holiday Park , thank you, we really appreciate it. Your comments have been passed on to all departments who are doing an amazing job considering the totally new circumstances in which they are being asked to work. Thank you too for re-booking to visit us next year – word of mouth and repeat guests by far the best method of advertising and are so important to us. I am so pleased to hear that you will be coming back to see us again and we are looking forward to seeing you again next year! All the best !

As a group we booked apartment 10 and I mist say I was quite disappointed. Took us a while to find the apartment for some reason and before enteing I have noticed a label on apartment 9, which is next to apartment 10, that was saying it is safe to enter and all the areas inside were disinfected. We did not had such thing on our door. At that time I was hoping that they probably forgot to put one. As we got in, a big dark grey stain was on the carpet on the corridor. Moving forward the ensuite bathroom was smelly and the light was not working. Got into the living room and I had a positive impression as firts, but then I have noticed the unmade sofa and the pillows all over it like someone just threw them in a rush (picture provided). After we unpacked I went to check the terrace and then I have noticed the horror: a group of big dead flies in top right hand side corner (as you go in the living room). After that we have also found toys pieces similar to dominos. It was then clearly that no one enterd to clean/disinfect the room before our arrival however, they left tiny bottles of shampoo and shower gel, as well as little soap bars for each member of our group.
I would NOT book a stay with this place before!

Hello Ijcuran, Thank you so much for your review. Even though we have the satisfaction of knowing that last year over 20,000 guests visited us and our lovely quiet park, very occasionally we do let a customer down and it is imperative that we have a look into what went wrong for the benefit of future guests. We always look to improve upon our procedures. Having looked at the notes on the booking I can confirm the unit was throughly cleaned and sanitized by an anti viral hospital grade fog mist in line with all COVID19 secure guidelines and it appears that our maintenance team did not affix a "seal" to the door - nothing sinister there. For that we sincerely apologise. Why, oh why did you not telephone the park manager Christine or Andy while you were there ? It is impossible to deal with the issues after you have returned home; it is so much easier to deal with the problems while you are on the park. We could have easily resolved all of your concerns or moved you to alternative accommodation with absolutely no fuss whatsoever. However, we do thank you for your feedback and we wish you all the best for the future.

We were so lucky in finding Kenegie. The park is beautiful with all different types of self catering accommodation to suit your needs. Everything is in there all you need are your towels!! Our accommodation was superb, very clean and sanitised to a high standard.
The Old Forge Pub/restaurant serves a fresh variety of food, at very reasonable price.
Eddie and Christine are first class hosts and their staff equally so.
There is also a small shop which stocks the usual milk, coffee, tea and other essentials
Gulval is just outside Penzance and we decided to leave the car (in our own designated parking spot) and use taxis to Penzance and then bus/train to wherever we wanted to go and it worked very well for us... not too expensive and probably worked out same cost taking into account fuel/parking charges
There is also a swimming pool and sauna but we didn’t use these..
We were so lucky with the weather too which was a bonus...
You won’t be disappointed staying here - I’d give it 10 stars if I could

Response from Ed N, General Manager at Kenegie Manor Holiday Park
Responded 29 Sept 2020
Hey mintbags5 - Wow ! what can we say ! Thank you for taking the time to leave your fantastic five star review. It is satisfying to hear that you had a great time with us ! Things are obviously very different this year for our staff working in entirely new circumstances and holidays for our guests this year are somewhat different. It is good to see that the Old Forge Bar team has been singled out for extra praise and there is no doubt that they deserve it. The new for 2020 takeaway service has proved extremely popular. Our loyal customers such as yourselves are so important to us and we will always look after you as best we can. All the best and see you soon !

Yes. Bus stop to st ives is a few minutes walk away. Only there’s no pavement so be careful when walking the country lanes.
Well located as 15 minutes by road to st ives or lands end. Only 5 minutes from Penzance. Very well connected to bus stops, train stations and supermarkets. Have fun!!
Ours had a freezer
