Caring, professional staff throughout my stay especially from management/supervisors who I saw the most, but I’m not saying that staff lower down didn’t care I just didn’t see them as much. The hotel is tatty but has what you want but you have to understand that it’s hard for a large company to get round every hotel to up date them. I liked how payment etc is done in advance so you just hand your key in at reception on departure.
The stay was very comfortable and quiet at night. We left the following morning and received a call while travelling home that my daughter had left her EarPods on the bed . The hotel manager said she would post them to us. Today we received them. We are really grateful with this top class service. Would highly recommend this hotel not many trustworthy people out there like the staff at this hotel. Thank you.
Let’s start with the positives, shall we. Overall this hotel isn’t too bad, could be better but could’ve been a lot worse. The rooms are clean and have the things you need, like tea, coffee, soap and shower gel etc. Perfect for a night or two. However (unfortunately this is the part that was very poor) as per the title, all the staff I met were lovely, caring and kind people apart from one. This person (now I won’t mention names) happens to be a supervisor who made you feel as if you were an inconvenience. She would be snappy and rude when she spoke to you and not what you would expect from a supervisor. This shocked me and spoiled my experience as the other staff members were great (and would probably do a much better job as a supervisor than her). I did think at the time that perhaps she was having a bad day as it does happen to us all and was willing to give her the benefit of the doubt, but this clearly wasn’t the case as in the morning she was being quiet abrupt and disrespectful to one of the cleaners (who I have to say was brilliant, always smiling and would acknowledge you). I felt so sorry for him as no cleaner deserves this, he has a hard enough job as it is and deserves some kind of respect. It makes you wonder how she got a supervisor job and what she is like towards other members of staff and customers. I would return to Travelodge, but not this one again.…
We received a warm welcome at reception and were happy with our room. It was clean, spacious and despite being close to the A12, surprisingly quiet. Only down side it access to A12 is northbound only, and its a couple of miles up to the next junction and a couple of miles back again if you want to head south; which we did for an evening meal in Witham. There's nothing onsite other than a Burger King, but a well stocked shop at the garage if you need snacks and essentials. This is a popular site with people working locally or travelling for work, so you're unlikely to get a bargain rate here.
The staff were lovely! But otherwise this place is the pits. We couldn't wait to leave in the morning. Right on the a12, mouldy bathroom, random old chip under the bed. At £62.99 plus £10 for early check in, I easily paid double what this stay was worth. The 'invigorating hair and body wash' in the shower was empty. Felt like I was staying in a motel from a US horror film.
