Staying 4 nights in this hotel was like stepping back in time a couple of centuries, but with all the latest improvements and comforts of a Five Star hotel. The owner spent millions converting and upgrading a castle without losing any of the original character. There are only some 15 rooms in the hotel and the amazing staff makes you feel like a real guest rather than just one of a dozens of room numbers. The remodeling included a new spa with all the possible amenities including a outside terrace with sweeping views over the countryside (see photo from room). There are two restaurants in the hotel (we enjoyed the more casual one twice) several small charming towns with restaurants within 10 minutes drive and Alba, a larger town is also very close with a great shopping street. The grounds are surrounding views are just magical. We are going back the end of 2021.

1st time at this hotel, but many times in this area. This hotel is the finest by far. Rooms are uniquely decorated and very comfortable. Service is great - when we arrived after a 4 hour drive we asked if we could have a drink outside and they brought a tablecloth and a bucket of bubbly and appetizers ! Dinner was delightful - we had the surprise tasting menu and it was delicious. Breakfast was pretty standard fare, surprised and disappointed that eggs were extra cost (this is a $500+/night hotel, after all). We were also charged for bottled water. Hence, only 4 stars.

From the moment we arrived until we left, our stay was amazing. We travelled as a family with our dog also, upon arrival everything was perfect, with special treats left for us and our dog in the very beautiful room.

Tranquil Spa with and swimming pool with a very special entrance.

We had dinner both nights, a delicious menu, with many small extras plates in addition to our order, also a very special breakfast, amazing fresh ingredients.

Most importantly, the service was exceptional. Definitely visit when you can.

My husband and I stayed here in mid-May. Beautifully restored in an awesome location. Our suite was large with a comfortable king bed, but other furniture ( chairs in particular) need to be updated! Very uncomfortable. Air conditioning in the public rooms was not working and although they said room ac was working, it never got cool enough which made for uncomfortable nights. . Not enough staff. Those there tried to be accommodating, but were seriously overworked. Breakfast was late being set up on our second morning and fruit was canned - unacceptable. At the time of our stay, this beautiful property was not running up to Relais standards. A real shame considering what a stay here could be!

We spent there a weekend and where amazed by this historical place giving the real feeling you’re in a Castel as in the old times. The staff was contributing a lot to this atmosphere, showing real devotion to service and making everything to please guests. In the luxury room we felt like monarchs from old times. The swimming pool and spa are of outstanding quality, carved in the rocks with terraces offering terrific view on the valley. Extremely nice breakfast. We give here a 5 mark for the hotel itself but refrain to take into account the restaurant itself where we have had a diner, which did not meet our expectations.

Stay lived up to high expectations. Enchanting and above all suggestive location with breathtaking 360 degree views.
Very pleasant is the fact that the SPA is reserved for 45 minutes for each room.
I give 4 stars because the bed mattress was made up of two mattresses placed side by side and you could feel the joint. In a facility of this level it is not acceptable. Then the breakfast could also be improved. Orange juice for example with an oxidized flavor (perhaps freshly squeezed but probably from the day before). Eggs for a fee...
Special mention for the restaurant: we had a really good truffle-based dinner and compliments to the staff, in particular the sommelier, friendly, competent and helpful.

Located on top of a hill overlooking beautiful Alba area. Great welcome and the surroundings are beautiful. Rooms are nicely decorated and share the value of being on a Casstle. Very clean rooms with lots of amenities and good quality throughout the details.
But we did have two incidents that felt this stay to not uphold the expectations to the Relais & Chateaux group.
Firstly we asked the person at the pool area if he could arrange with the reception to make a reservation at a nearby place for the evening and he took notes of this. We never had any feedback and when we came down some hours later for going out for dinner the receptionist never have had this information and made any reservations. So noW this place was fully booked. And in stead we had to arrange our own driving to a nearby restaurant, which we had hoped to avoid.
Sane receptionist help us getting a list for in room breakfast arrangements and we did fill this out at handed it personally to the receptionist that evening. Next morning we never had the breakfast delivered as expected and again this is just poor service for the second time during our stay. No one would take the blame and no one seemed to care of these mishaps, so left with a feeling that this hotel was more into looking good, but not as much helping or proactive in the guest request or needs.

It’s actually a palace, not a castle. We got a deluxe room and it was big and well decorated with 2 big bathrooms, one with a tub. Although it was very comfortable we noticed something weird about the toilet amenities: they are each one of a different brand and there’s no pattern. They would let a Ferragamo shampoo, a Hermès soap bar and moisturizer and a generic hand soap of low quality. Very odd. Water, coffee and tea should be offered in the room as well. Breakfast is good and the lady in charge very attentive and worked hard to provide everything we asked for but I think sometimes she could use a little help from someone in the kitchen as she was by herself and had to serve, wait on tables, clean them and reset them to other guests who kept coming and there was no one to help, which sometimes led guests waiting. The spa and swimming pool are very interesting, located on the underground of the palace and still with a beautiful view of the village below. The other common areas could be improved. The lobby is dark and not welcoming. There’s even a pool table that doesn’t make any sense in being there lol. I also give the suggestion that the main access gate have the intercom placed in a way to avoid the driver getting out of the car, in the cold and rain, to ask the receptionist to open it. Our stay was good but we left with the feeling that it was not a 5-star Relais & Chateaux property.

The castle has a commanding view across the rolling hills and has beautiful views. The property is very well looked after by a cohesive team but the stand out team members are Giuseppe the manager of the property. He gave us a full tour of the castle (over an hour!) once we arrived. We thought that after a flight and a drive from Milan airport this might be too much but honestly the tour was so informative and interesting and we had so many questions. The castle is full of history and a tour is necessary to help get your bearings.

Dinner was nice - great food and wine service from a friendly team but the setting terrace of the restaurant) had limited views of the garden.

Breakfast was a small but quality affair. The lady in charge was very helpful, professional yet friendly and keen on providing an efficient service. She recalled coffee preferences and if anything was depleted she would call the kitchen to make more. Good local sparking wine to enjoy as well on the terrace with your continental breakfast!

Reception was helpful in booking local restaurants. We appreciated this and ate out on most days. Osteria imperfeccta ( go early and get an outside table for amazing views) and Restaurant Aie (cozy outdoor seating with a surprise menu paired with bottles of magnums which keep switching between the tables). Unique experiences.

The bar was empty on most evenings but it’s an enclosed room next to the restaurant. We had good chats with other couples on the occasions when we were in.

The newly constructed health club was great and did not feel busy. Nice to use the relaxation/spa facilities for a set time per couple.

Finally room was very spacious and comfortable. We were on the third floor. The castle only has 12 or so rooms so it never feels busy.

It’s a great place and looking forward to returning soon!

No detail is overlooked at this property and was one of the finest hotels I have ever stayed in. For weeks before arrival, I corresponded with their staff to arrange transfers and a tour. Christian was extremely prompt and helped me to make a variety of arrangements. He connected me with a tour guide for the day who was absolutely wonderful. Every member of the staff was welcoming and helpful. The food in the restaurant was among some of the best I had in Piedmont. I can't recommend this property enough! Thank you for such a wonderful stay and all of your assistance.
