We visited the Bell for a family Sunday lunch recently. The food was very enjoyable - classic pub food but done very well! The landlord was welcoming and friendly and even made his own bar snacks which were very tasty. The kids fish fingers are worth a mention too: fresh and homemade not the frozen type you get in so...

Is not my first time in The Bell and is a very cosy and friendly pub. The food is excellent, nice hand made soup, the risotto excellent, cheese and pickes sandwich, stuff very pleasant. It's a type of place ideal to have a meal. Cosy place also.

This is a restaurant review, not the hotel. Traditional old inn with beams and a wood burner in full flight! It was a quiet Tuesday night with just one other table taken. The dining area is pleasant enough and we had a warm welcome from the young woman on duty. We both had home made steak, kidney and mushroom pie,...

Visited with friends and had a lunch. We all eat different meals and all agreed that the service and quality of the meal were very good at a reasonable price. The only negative thing would that the outside areas could be tidied up.

I had the best steak of my life at The Bell on their Thursday steak night, and amazing friendly service the whole time! Lovely local beers in a beautiful setting. Would definately come again and highly recommend to anyone.

The village pub with a lively but friendly atmosphere and separate dining area. A choice of real ales and a reasonable choice of food on the menu to suit most tastes. Food was not exceptional but equally nothing to criticise. A surprisingly good Rioja went well with my pork chops in a prune/armagnac sauce and also my partner's spicy chicken...

Stopped for lunch here recently, three of us chose the southern style chicken.......thinking it was going to be with a southern fried coating......what a shock turned out to have too much Cajun coating .....meal spoilt by misleading menu description, we all scrapped as much of the coating off, it was a shame because the meal was well cooked.

Our room was in a converted barn so very spacious and peaceful. The new landlord made us very welcome. The glass of red was superior to most pub's vinegary plonk and the eggs Benedict for breakfast was excellent. It's an excellent unpretentious pub.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
This traditional village pub dates back to the 15th century with our snug area dating back to 1107! Legend has it, that the original building was used as accommodation for the monks that built Iden church. We have two delightful letting rooms, separate to the pub. Rooms offer king sized beds and en-suite facilities. Other features include original oak beams within the letting rooms and the main inn. Make yourselves tea and coffee in vintage china in the morning in bed whilst watching television with freeview prior to popping over the the restaurant for a sumptuous hearty breakfast using fresh local produce - continental and full English are offered. We are proud of our home cooked food and offer far more than your usual pub grub. Our food is locally sourced where possible and reflects seasonal changes. We are a perfect dining space for a romantic dinner for two, a family celebration or a private party. ... more   less
