I only went for lunch but the experience was well below expectations. Yes the building is beautiful and the location at one time may have been peaceful - now there is construction everywhere - in and out of the hotel. Nobody welcomed me, not even a smile, nobody said goodbye. The food was surely below the standard the staff themselves would eat - far worse than is available in the village at 20% of the price. I was happy to leave and very pleased i did not stay there. The pool is closed
Excellent place in a quiet village facing Mekong. Welcoming and caring staff. Tea time on the terrace in the middle of vineyards is a lovely experience. Another positive Songstam lodge experience dine during our Yunnan trip. We can only recommend for families that want to discover this beautiful area.
Tacheng is the place to go for if you wish to see the black snub nosed monkeys. This lodge is nestled among corn fields and away from the village so it’s a good choice to eat there too. November is off season and we were the only guests but the staff were especially helpful and prepared a great dinner and lunch too. It was worth the price. The decor and furniture reflect the culture of the minority living there and almost everything was tastefully done.
We loved the staff and service and food...everything at the Songtsam Lodge Tacheng!! I will come back often!! Thank you very much to all the great people here!! There are so many things to do in the area. We loved the village walk too!
Very charming hotel beautifully located in a village among the mountains, fields and vineyards. Wonderful landscape views seen from the windows of a beautiful restaurant and rooms, take your breath away and make you want to be here long and longer. Very hospitable hotel staff, especially the manager. Everywhere clean, fresh, smells of essential oils, warm - especially by the burning fireplace. Local food was really fantastic1 Top of the Top! And this amazing delicious rose jam - I have never ever eaten something so delicious! Here you feel very comfortable and familar. Everybody want you to be happy and glad. The rooms are spacious, well-equipped, beautifully decorated and with very comfortable large beds. A small disadvantage for a foreign tourist - hotel staff does not know English at all. I honestly recommend to everyone this unique place on the map of Tibet!…
A very beautiful and serene setting with Tibet culture influences. Highly recommend their services and food. The local villagers are very friendly and willing to open their house to visitors. This is an area with lots activities to explore. Please allowed three days minimum stay, we plan to come back for the high mountain lakes day trip next time.
Highly recommended! Very friendly and professional staffs! The local meals served in the hotel were so fresh and delicious and the chief could also join us for a sing along with a beautiful local folk song, bravos. The morning hike to the local temple is a must do. The afternoon walking around the local village to meet the locals is also highly recommended. Very friendly, beautiful and peaceful people here! We had a wonderful stay.
Songtsam Lodge Tacheng is located at a beautiful valley which provides comfortable and soothing environment. The hotel rooms are very clean, with very comfortable size. The hotel staffs are very friendly, and providing extremely good services. A total customer service oriented hotel.
One of the impressive luxury hotels in the Songtsam chain in Yunnan, South China. We stayed here two nights as part of an 8-night, 9-day Songtsam Yunnan tour (Lijiang, Tacheng, Cizhong, Meili, Shangrila; I will review all.) We also had lunch at Songtsam Benzilan. We were 2 couples, three of whom are native Mandarin speakers and I have conversational Mandarin ability. We had a driver and a tour guide, in a comfortable Toyota van. They spoke only Mandarin, but English speaking guides are available. The Tacheng lodge has spectacular views across terraced fields and down a major river valley. The rooms are built with traditional wood designs and are spacious, comfortable, and roomy. Bathrooms are large and modern. Food is excellent; each Songtsam lodge has its own adjacent farm, where much of your food is grown. On our tour, lunches and dinners had multiple dishes served; we could order additional plates of any of them. Breakfast buffet had Western and Chinese choices. Exceedingly quiet and peaceful at night. Staff is friendly and competent. A windy narrow road climbs 3,000 feet to a Buddhist temple that you could see with binoculars from our balcony. Very little English spoken in remote Yunnan; hire a guide unless you thrive on spending most of your vacation time solving logistical and linguistic problems.…
Stayed here one night. The hotel itself is extremely well designed with large bedrooms with balcony and great views over the valley. The staff are very friendly and helpful. It provides full service restaurant with mix of dishes, local and fusion.
