Rang earlier in the day to ask if the Pub was dog friendly: it was. my wife had business in the village so I of course did a bit of market research in the Bay Horse. I wasn't disappointed! My wife joined me and the dog and had a great lunch, the barman was very attentive to our needs and...

The room was very basic, with few things to recommend. Cobwebs on window and corners. Cleaning was very superficial. Very over priced for what was available. Bed quite uncomfortable and the only chair available was an old dining chair. The pictures look far better than the actual. Cannot recommend this at half the price!

Stayed for one night when attending my nephew's wedding nearby. Room was adequate, a bit faded glory, but very clean and nice quality bed linen. Being in a courtyard area you may need to close your curtains when dressing/undressing, but not a problem really. The breakfast was excellent, choice of cereals, fruit juice, fresh fruit salad and a full English...

My fiancé and I stayed at The Bay Horse Inn for 2 nights while we went to a wedding at near by Allertan Castle. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room we had was lovely. A nice bed, clean big bathroom. The pub was nice inside too. Food all home made and mostly from the local farm the...

Being told that we had to order our evening meal by 7.30 at the latest did not get us off to a very good start and then to find we were the only people in the bar/ restaurant just made the issue worse. The staff were very friendly however, and the room was ok but definitely not value for money

I am sorry you were disappointed with your stay with us. You chose to stay on a Sunday night which is our only early closing night of the week ( although we always keep the bar open for our staying guests) . We ask that food is ordered by 7.30pm, which allows us to have the kitchen cleaned and closed...

Overall I would recommend this Inn as a good place to stay, we were aware that the bedroons were unrefurbishment and I must admit although our room was comfortable it was ready to be revitalised. The breakfast was very good and included locally produced products. What made our stay was the inn had atmosphere and the owner and staff were...

We had a very pleasant conversation with the Manager and assistant on a quiet day of business. They served a very simple sausage and mash dish with accompanying leek fry. The clientel were quiet and pleasant also. The accomodation looked very welcoming on arrival. Rooms cosy and attractive. A large parking area at the rear of the Pub. Tis time...

Stayed here last weekend whilst visiting York for the Christmas markets. Pub about 8 miles from the centre. Used ring and ride at Askham bar. Room lovely and warm after a very cold day shopping. Staff are friendly and helpful. Location is good for sightseeing in local area. Had evening meal which was very nice and made friends with the...

Called here on the way to York. Although no one else was been served as it was gone 8 it took over 40 mins for our food to arrive. One of us had the beef in Guinness with mash and battered carrots - 2 small slices of meat a spoon of mash and half a plate of UNBATTERED carrots. It...

I am sorry you were disappointed with your visit, and that I have taken so long to respond. We do cook everything to order, which does take a little time. I must point out that I think you may have mis-read our menu. The carrots accompanying your slow-cooked brisket were buttered, not battered. All our meat is from the farm...
