Highly recommended. My partner and I have been visiting the pub most weekends for the past few months and we have found the staff so polite, helpful and friendly. Food is certainly 5* and must be tried. Don't know why anyone would add a bad review. Try it for yourself I'm sure the pub has rectified any faults because I...

Just had perfect night at this beautiful olde world pub/restuarant. Service, food, room and pub are second to none. Sat at roaring log fire with snow coming down outside drinking local beer, what could be better! Cant wait for next visit to this lovely friendly pub and exploring the beautiful area

I stayed here with friends for a relaxing weekend break. Clean friendly rooms. Decent quality food at reasonable prices. Plenty of hot water and warm and cosy rooms. Would definitely go back. Free parking and WiFi. Easy to get to Penrith Keswick Kendall and the lakes.

Good food, pie especially, excellent meat. Friendly and accommodating staff. Had to wait a little while for food to come, but very much worth the wait and clearly made to order which is good. Well located in the lovely village of Askham.

We went here on the final night of our stay based on a recommendation from a local. The staff were friendly and attentive with good knowledge of their menu, beers and wines. We'd climbed helvellyn earlier in the day so both had big appetites and the food didn't disappoint. We both had 3 courses and side orders (the portions were...

Staff were very attentive and helpful. Food excellent and acomodation very comfortable. Lovely atmosphere would definately recommend, Breakfast very substantial ie: full english/ cereal/porridge with honey/toast/fruit juices, fresh coffee/tea. Situated in a Lovely quaint village with Askham Hall on the doorstep. Lowther Castle is nearby with absolutely stunning scenery and grounds to walk in.

Friendly, helpful staff. Good food and drink. Unfortunately, very average accommodation. The screws holding the bathroom door hinges were loose which meant the door was very difficult to close. It wasn't a new problem as there were screw holes in the door frame where earlier attempts had been made to secure it. Maybe other guests hadn't reported the problem but...

Lovely pub with a great atmosphere, allows pets which is great. Menu had lots of choices with daily specials. Food was very high quality but did take some time to arrive, was a busy Saturday though. Presented well with very friendly staff. There are caravans at the back to stay in but it was dark when we arrived. We just...

The menu is the same but the food has changed since our last visit. This is still a very welcoming and friendly pub with good service and a varied menu and good food but is not as good value as it was. £8.95 is a lot for a sandwich albeit with some chips and side salad. However, we had a...
