Staying in the Bow Valley of the Canadian Rockies, Alberta this summer doesn't have to break the bank. The Hostel Bear offers cheap beds with a great kitchen for cooking (to also save on food) a cozy, friendly atmosphere and right in the mountains with endless things to do and see. Book early to ensure a bed and spent your...

Spent 3 nights at the Hostel Bear and found it to be quite convenient. If you need to be waited on hand and foot, go to the expensive places. If you want a place to sleep, cook, relax, and recharge consider this bear. The room I had was very roomy with 4 bunks and a private bathroom. Wifi dropped my...

I stayed there for 7 nights in December and have to say that the location is good because it's easy to walk anywhere within Canmore from the hostel and I really liked friendly staff there (the German girl was amazing and helpful in every way). Also the common area is pretty good - it would be nice if the kitchen...

Pretty clean, large common areas. We had a group of three looking for somewhere to stay while we explored the mountains. Opinion: if you have a small group and keep to yourselves a hotel is probably better. If you're solo or want to do the backpacker thing this is a good place there's a lot of people coming and going....

I had a great stay here while looking for work in Canmore. I took advantage of a very reasonable weekly rate. I really liked that it is a quiet and sensible hostel. Although, the well equipped kitchen closes at 10 and common room at 11, which sometimes felt early. The upstairs common room is comfortable with big beautiful window views...

Stayed here for a couple of days. To be honest, I was a bit undecided whether to choose this hostel due to Trip Adviser guest comments. But it was completely unnecessary, the staff were awesome even helped me/advised me on finding a job in Canmore. The kitchen is fully equipped. It does close at 10.00 pm/re-opens at around 05.30 am....

My husband and I were booked in for 2 nights but chose to only stay for one. Access to common areas were blocked by gates at 10pm. This included the kitchen. As we had jet lag we went to sleep mid afternoon and only woke around 10pm starving......but by then we could not even go into the kitchen to get...

Stayed here in a large group and there were no major problems. The rooms were large and clean. The only issue was with the top bunks being difficult to get in to, and the beds being slightly uncomfortable. The staff were generally helpful, although the service at times was slow and slightly disinterested. The price was affordable and reasonable. Seemed...

Every inch of this place feels like it's been half-assed. Laundry machines broken, bedlamps burnt out, faucets that only trickle. This would normally be only a subpar hostel, but the juxtaposition between the Alpine Clubhouse Hostel and the Hostel Bear make this place feel like an exceptionally awful place. Furthermore, the ACC Hostel is cheaper if you are already a...

I was staying in Canmore for a course and decided to go the hostel route to add a social aspect to this visit. Social is definitely not what i got. All social areas and seating is closed behind locked gates between 22h00 and 07h30 making you feel like an untrusted and unwelcome intruder. The room was dirty, there was no...
