We stayed at this hotel on Christmas night as we were visiting family in the area. There were a lot of mechanical noises in the night that interrupted our sleep, and there were teams plowing the car park at 1:30 AM, making a terrible noise. In the morning there was no hot water for the shower and when we complained about this on checkout we were told that “one of the hot water heaters is broken”. As an afterthought, the front desk person said “sorry about that”. I wondered why, if the hot water was out in our room, why they put us there when it was -11 Celsius outside. Very amateurish hotel with inexperienced staff. We won’t go back. Really crappy experience.
We held a family wedding in the area this past weekend and had a large number of family and friends stay at the hotel. Throughout the process starting with booking a block of rooms Carmen and staff were excellent. They made it a priority in finding us additional rooms and adjusting to our requests as the event got closer. The stays were great anything we needed was handled promptly and professionally. Thanks to all including the hotel staff who were friendly and helpful.
Was there for business. Comfortable hotel with good customer service. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Some parts of the hotel are dated but was not an issue. I went for a walk and felt safe. Very close to the businesses which made for an easy commute. Waterloo is a nice little town as well.
We recently stayed on a Saturday night, visited the nearby St. Jacobs market. Found the room to be adequate, well cleaned and bright with big oversize windows. There was a hand sanitizer left to clean the remote control for the TV, so many remotes at hotels are filthy. There were a few cobwebs on the ceiling of my room that were missed, though overall there wasn't much dust on the furniture. Noticed many dead bugs in the hallway wall sconce lights too, and big handprints of a child on the ice maker. Special requests for non feather or down pillows were ignored. I always pack a "My Pillow" for these kinds of trips. The doors slam hard when they close, so if you happen to have rowdy children for a hockey tournament or a loud wedding party, you should expect to be awaken in the night. Our room had an oversized hot tub, and the model they installed was deep and slippery, no grab bars to help you get in and out. Disappointed by the "Bistro", it was not much of a restaurant though the wine prices were cheaper than other restaurants. If you want a decent meal, nearby Jacks down the street or The Crazy Canuck attached to Market Road Antiques is a better bet. It seemed like the offerings in the pantry were bare, they only had Pepsi products, and no orange juice after the brunch rush. …
Our trip was almost ruined - and the main problem was breakfast. They say that breakfast is "available", so we were expected a standard buffet style breakfast for which you pay extra. However, the only thing they have outside was coffee and if you want breakfast you need to order it. We had to drive to Niagra Falls that morning and had a very tight schedule, but we need to eat something. Not only everything was overpriced (I had a bowl of oatmeal with a couple of blueberries thrown in for $9 or so, but there was a line in the restaurant, and they were in no hurry. Eventually we ordered some food and then had to wait for it to be brought to our table. The food was OK, but we spent close an hour there rather than 15-20 we were counting on. As a result, we missed the safari trip planned on that day. This really makes no sense, if people want a leisurely breakfast and are willing to wait for it, this is fine, of course, but they must provide the option of a quick one for the travelers who are in a hurry. The hotel is on the smallish side, but clean overall. The staff is not very welcoming and completely untrained. When we were checking in, they were quarrelling because the printer did not work. Thet were not rude, but they asked some personal questions, which are really not appropriate from the hotel staff. There was fairly loud music in the lobby at night and when we asked to turn it down, they said that they would not know how to do it (!). Overall, a huge disappointment, considering decent reviews they have.…
We were guests here for 1 night and were disappointed. The previous night we had stayed at the Hampton Inn & Suites & it was $50.00 cheaper. We had to purchase our breakfast of scrambled eggs, homefries, sausage and toast for my husband and I ordered oatmeal and blueberries and a bagel with cream cheese. The coffee was complimentary and our bill was $29.95. We should have gone to Jack's Family Restaurant for a decent breakfast. The shower had not been updated and was still a tub with a shower curtain and no hand held shower faucet. The drain closed on my husband and we had to manually hold the stopper up to drain the tub. We wouldn't stay here again.
The staff was amazing very friendly and I hate to give them a one star but we were going to a wedding and there was no air-conditioning in the main lobby I felt horrible for the poor staff working in those terrible conditions also we were on our way to a wedding and while we waited three minutes for our driver to pull up my hair and my make up was ruined because of the humidity I can’t even begin to imagine working an entire shift like that.
We had 4 stays here in a matter of a month and trust me we felt at home!! The staff was extremely kind and helpful. Our heartfelt thanks to GM-Kay Koots, Suketu from Front desk , very kind and helpful housekeeping lead Ann, the Bistro lead Shefi for ensuring we were well taken care of. You all are a good wonderful bunch of people and assets to Marriott. With each trip to marriott I only become more and more of a loyal and proud member. All in all a lovely trip, hope to be back soon. Regards, Meeit K Chhabriaa
We booked a block of rooms here for a recent wedding and the staff was a pleasure to deal with. Carmen and Kay went out of their way to ensure that there were no glitches with the rooms, and were very accommodating with last-minute changes. All the staff were friendly, patient and so helpful: front desk, housekeeping etc. The rooms were clean and the location is great! We will be back!
Recently renovated and part of the Marriott family. Rooms and hotel are clean and the staff is helpful and friendly. Located across the street from the Market. Free coffee in the lobby in the morning. Rooms have a fridge and microwave. Restaurant on site also which I didn’t eat at.
