I would highly recommend staying at the Holiday Inn Express on your next visit to Waterloo/St Jacobs area! The location can’t be beat- it’s right next to the St Jacobs Farmers Market, St Jacobs Antique Market and Market Road Antiques. It’s a short 4 minute drive away from the St Jacobs Village where you can find more boutiques, restaurants and beautiful murals! The hotel staff went above and beyond, and the amenities were amazing- from all the variety at the complimentary breakfast, to the fun indoor pool and splash pad, its an amazing stay for families and couples!
We were a group of 8, and this hotel accommodated us with adjoining or close proximity suites. The rooms were spacious, clean and well appointed. The breakfast selections were very good. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. There is an excellent restaurant, "Jacks" right beside it, with fantastic staff. The St Jacob's market and town stores are close by.i highly recommend this hotel.
After returning home from my stay, I realized that I had left my wedding rings in the hotel room. I called the hotel right away to ask them to check. They said someone would check and they would get back to me. After 2 hours my call had not been returned so I called them back. They said they had not been able to find them even though 2 people had checked (including the shift supervisor who was 'not available to speak to me'). After dodging my questions and the call mysteriously 'dropping', I called back to ask them if they could hold off clean the room and asked if I could check the room myself. About 10 minutes later, they called back to say my rings had been found. The next day, the manager called in response to a message that I had left the previous day. When I shared my query around how the rings suddenly were 'found' once we told them we were coming in person, he questioned why I hadn't immediately just gotten in the car (to drive 1 1/2 hours one way) to come and find the rings, saying that 'common sense' would say I should have done this. I found this to be a very disrespectful approach to customer service.…
We had a very comfortable 5 night stay. Rooms are quite large for 3-4 guests. Location is ideal for those aiming to visit Farmers Market. Wall Mart is also walking distance. Housekeeping staff seemed bit overwhelmed as occupancy has shot up significantly. Front Desk was very responsive to all our breakfast. Breakfast is adequate with no salad options and limited fruits. One day egg was served with ham but staff was kind to provide us with egg with cheese. We used GRT bus for commuting.
We were part of a large group of ladies attending a social convention in St Jacobs Ontario on the weekend of July 15,2022. For the most part we are well travelled, and accustomed to a high level of service and a high standard of accommodation. We were going to share a room among 4 of us. Our first indication of upcoming problems was at the guest registration services. The desk clerk (also know as the manager) was rather surely and refused to give us 4 keys to our room. He felt that two keys were enough for four of us. After a bit of discussion,we obtained four keys. The desk clerk aka manager was quite unpleasant. When we finally arrived in our room,we discovered that A) there were enough towels etc.,for only two people, and B) the bathroom had not been properly cleaned. Reporting these issues to the front desk was met with a rude response. Later one of our members, noticed that she was unable to find her credit card. She had used this card at check in and we had not left the hotel since our arrival. The only conclusion was that at the guest services desk. Several enquires over the next two days did not turn up the credit card.We searched through purses, trash bins, under the beds,etc.,etc.. It turns out the the credit card was left at the counter upon check in. The registration clerk (aka the manager) had put the card in the drawer and failed to notify and other staff member of its presence. When this person (aka the manger)(Mr N.I )did show up , and returned the card to the proper person, he was extremely rude and liberally threw the card across the counter saying "Here, what is your problem". The manager had claimed that he has left several messages in the room.Hmmmm, difficult to do when the telephone was not connected. We discovered the phone problem ourselves when we attempted to make some calls.Seems that the manager had been telling little white lies about his attempts to contact us. At this point, we were a little upset with the attitude of the manager. We went to the guest services to register our dissatisfaction and the following scenario played out. The manager was extremely rude,he shouted at us.called us troublemakers, and stated he was calling the police .Another white lie. Well we waited in the lobby,we encountered another group who were experiencing problems with the same manager. They suffered the same rude attitude.the loud voice of the manager (he shouted),and he said he was calling the police. No police showed up. Seems that his "white' lies were getting a little darker . All the other staff working at the hotel went out of their way to try and resolve great problems. They really made an effort to compensate for the abusive manager. I cannot understand how a hotel chain like Holiday Inn Express could have even engaged the services of such a rude person, much less placed him in a managerial position. Here is a note or two that might interest you. We were excess of a few people at this convention in St Jacobs. There were several other rooms occupied by other members of the group. We have yet to hear a single positive comment from any of our members with regards to this manager. We also noted that the anger and rudeness displayer to us was not unique. There were others staying at the hotel who suffered the same unpleasant behavior. My rant is far from over, but it is now your turn to reply. Thank You…
4 of us booked in for a 2 night stay at this hotel. The intake process went well enough with one of the ladies presenting her credit card as a guarantee for the room. We headed up to our room - 4 of us in that room - not enough towels or facecloths, not enough shampoo and body wash in the dispensers. Tried to call front desk - phone is dead. after unpacking we all head down to the front desk to lodge our concerns, which also included a complaint about the bathroom floor being filthy - we are assured that the missing articles would be supplied and the floor cleaned. Off we go to visit the area and to have dinner in Kitchener . is is July 15, 2022. Upon our return, our friend was going through her purse and could find the credit card she presented when we booked into the hotel. Down she went to the front desk - they had no credit card and the individual (manager) who had booked us in left no message about the credit card. July 16, 2022 - Again our lady asked about the credit card - front desk know nothing. Off we go to breakfast, then meeting for a photo shoot, then shopping, then lunch - back to the hotel - Again the lady asks at the front desk about the credit card. In the meantime our lady has gone through her purse , her wallet, her suitcase - all her pockets the garbage, etc. . and this with the help of the other 3 ladies travelling with her. NO CREDIT CARD. We finally go down to the front desk and insist that all the drawers be checked - the girl allowed us to look at the hotel card keys in case the credit card got stuck with them - no credit card. In the meantime the intake person comes out of the office - goes in a drawer, takes out the credit card and throws it at the owner of the card saying "I don't know what your problem is!" Not only is this man rude and arrogant towards us - he lied and said he called the room several times - not true - the phones were not plugged in - which we found out later. No message - no phone call - nothing, Because the man was rude we asked to speak with a Manager - I actually asked him if he was a Manager and he said he was not. We found out later that Mr. N. I. was in fact the Manager on duty - so he lied about being the Manager - he lied about phoning the room and leaving a message Mr. N.I. became quite agitated and was yelling at us and threatened us with the fact that he was calling the police and having us thrown out of the hotel. We said no problem - we will wait for the police. (to be noted - he made the same threats to a group of baseball people - about calling the police etc etc). We waited for about 1 hour for the police to show up - which they never did. So this manager killed our outing to the St. Jacobs market because of his incompetence. Although everyone else who worked at the hotel were very nice and accommodating - this Manager has a serious problem with the public and is definitely not a good representative for Holiday Inn Express - St. Jacobs.…
From the day we stepped in the front door our stay was perfect ! Fantastic staff and through management whom checked in daily with our experience! Room was perfect ! Awesome air conditioning and staff checked in daily regarding our room service . Breakfast was great and well stocked ! I would highly recommend. Almost forgot, an amazing sleep.
We booked a room with king sized bed and jetted tub. The tub is nice, but the ventilating fan on top of the tub is way too loud. The separate shower has bottles of shampoo, conditioner and shower gel on the wall, which is nice. But I personally prefer one time use bottles during COVID for hygienic reasons. This hotel is right across the St. Jacobs Farmers Market and St. Jacobs Outlet Mall (only got a few stores). We stayed on Sunday so the market is closed. There's a restaurant (Jack's) literally steps away from the hotel. We had a nice dinner there. We stayed here because the breakfast buffet is back at this hotel. We haven't had a breakfast buffet since COVID started, so it was great to have it again! Breakfast included egg omelette (with bacon, red peppers, etc.), sausages, bacon, warm cinnamon buns, muffins. Usual juice and coffee, they even have grapefruit juice. We had fun with the pancake machine.…
All the staff were very friendly and accommodating! Room was very large and clean. It came equipped with everything you need. If you forgot something - the staff were happy to provide you with whatever you need. Breakfast was delicious. I would recommend staying here if you are coming to Waterloo/ St.Jacobs area!
Front desk staff were very helpful and friendly. Room was spacious and overall clean. However when getting ready to leave found a rotten apple under bed skirt. Breakfast was just okay, hot foods were barely lukewarm. Asked if there was almond milk and was told they only had "normal milk". Some of us are unable to drink normal milk due to an intolerance. Some lactose free yogurt would have been appreciated. Found the toilet very low, with bad knees this was a bit of an issue. Saw several people in the common areas without masks. Location was great, across from the farmers market and 30 minute drive to several villages.
