Very basic accommodation, but clean and spacious. Beds are surprisingly good. Very close to highway, but you don't hear it. They don't have any food available, but there's a McD across the road and Piza delivery. There's a big supermarket (Zehrs) approximately 5 minutes driving from the hotel if you take Homer Watson Blvd to NW (farther from the 401). Walls are thin, so if you're "blessed" with noisy members, you might kiss your sleep goodbye.
What puzzled me to no end was lack of either kettle or coffee machine in the suite. They have coffee and hot water downstairs, but don't refill often enough, so you can't have a cup of tea or coffee. There's no cutlery in rooms at all (we forgot to bring our own plastic cutlery and had to improvise, as stores were closed already when we arrived).

I booked the stay here for two days while on a mini vacation in the Kitchener area. My partner had told me about some universities and colleges renting out student accommodation in the summer time so I looked at this as an option. I was apprehensive about booking as it was student accommodation but ended up leaving with a positive experience. The halls up to the room remind me of school, the room itself was obviously a room intended for students as it had desks but I soon forgot it was a residence room and found it to be a good alternative to hotel accommodation. When we go to a hotel we never use, pool amenities or things like that. Wifi is of importance to us. The room was a good size, the wifi was the best I have ever had when travelling. The beds were firm and adequate, the air conditioning worked well and the bathroom was good. I liked the kitchen area with a fridge. I would definitely consider this type of accommodation in the future as it offered low cost, clean accommodation with features, like wifi. The tv was a bit small but adequate. Breakfast consisted of coffee, juice, cereal, toast and bagels which is adequate as far as I was concerned, mcdonalds and tim hortons was across the road if you wanted more. It was a great experience and would definitely stay here again.

Spending summers staying with a room mate this place is perfect. Have rooms with two separate sleeping quarters, also full size fridge is a huge bonus for us. Very clean place, and pretty good location. Spacious bathroom, with only a shower though. Definitely would recommend for a short or especially long term stay.

We stayed here for 3 nights for a convention taking place in Kitchener. It was very comfortable, clean and affordable. The unit has a full-size fridge and a microwave in the kitchenette; you need to provide your own kitchen tools, dishes, etc.(we bring an electric hot-plate/burner to cook on). Lots of free parking. There is a grocery store (Zehr's) just 2 kilometers away, as well as a Shoppers Drug Mart and LCBO.

The staff are very helpful and it seems to be well managed. We have stayed at this property while attending at least 4 previous conventions.

This room was billed as a '2 bedroom Suite'. It wasn't.
It was a 2-bedroom dorm-room. Literally.
I travel a lot, and this is possibly the worst place I've ever stayed.

When I arrived, I stood at the front desk, directly across from the Reception agent (who quite clearly saw me), & she did not even acknowledge my presence for almost 10 minutes. She was reviewing room-cleaning with housekeeping. THEN she proceeded to tell me that I could not yet check into my room because check in time was 3:00. It was 2:45 at that moment. Seriously??

I asked if she could please check if the room was ready since it was so close to check in. Apparently, this was a novel idea for her.
It took her another 10 minutes to complete the check in. She couldn't find my reservation, although I had my confirmation number and a printout of my confirmation.

Ok, so we got to the room. Good lord!'
This was NOT a 2-bedroom Suite - it was quite literally a DORM ROOM.
It had linoleum tile flooring, circa 1970.
-no glasses
-no coffee or tea
-no coffee maker
-no blowdryer
- the towels were little better than bar-towels; and I DO mean the rags that bartenders mop the bar with.
On top of the lack of these items that are STANDARD OFFERINGS in any other hotel I have stayed in (U.S., Canada, and Ireland)...
The room was FILTHY.
My girlfriend took pics of the filth.
Stains/residue on the walls. Grime on every lightswitch. Doors splattered with heaven-knows-what.
The tv frame was cracked and the back of the tv was thick with dust.

Ok, so we figure - we're just here to sleep - we'll put up with this.
So at the end of the night we returned to sleep... or so we thought.
Someone was having an impromptu jam-session underneath our bedroom windows.
It was frigging loud, which - ok - you're having fun.
But hey - it's a Sunday night, and at 4:30 a.m. we figure we had been MORE than reasonable.
So we called the front desk to get them to quiet the party people.
There was NO ANSWER at the front desk. We called repeatedly, and let it ring as much as possible. NO ANSWER. AT ALL!
I guess they were partying with the jam session.

I paid $130 bucks for poor service, poor accomodations, and there is NO EXCUSE FOR FILTH at any price!
DO.NOT.EVER. STAY. HERE.
EVER.

Dear GR8Brit123 and T.L. (2 reviews). I first want to thank you both for your comments and feedback. I do appreciate all positive and negative responses we receive as they only help us to improve. I will try to address your comments as best I can and I apologize that your stay wasn’t up to ours, or yours, expectations. We are student housing that rents out our suites in the summer for non-student guests. That being said, we are always upgrading/updating. The TV’s are about 50% done in the building to a flat screen. The building is being renovated (painted, floors, new kitchens, bathrooms) this summer, so I apologize if you received one of the rooms that hasn’t been done yet. If we were not sold out we would have been happy to move you. The rooms do come with towels, soap, shampoo and hand towels…if that was missed, I apologize, but the front desk does carry extra if needed. As for cups and kitchen extras, we do not supply that in the suite. There is a continental breakfast that has coffee, juice, bagels/toast, and fruit every morning for your enjoyment in the lobby. For the check-in, we do hire a lot of students who for them, this may be their first job and they do try their best. The night before your check-in we had a full house and it does take time to get to all the rooms with housekeeping, so we sometimes have to stick to the 3pm check-in. I hope we can have you back next season and prove to you that we are champions in customer service, value and a perfect place to stay when travelling. Please feel free to contact me anytime to discuss your review, I would be happy to chat. Thanks again and I look forward to seeing you next season. David General Manager

We stayed at the Conestaga College Residence for two nights for the August long week-end. Got a really great deal for $67 and $55 plus taxes for the Saturday and Sunday night of the long week-end through hotels.com

Booked three rooms and were given exactly what we requested, all three rooms next to each other. We booked an open concept room with the two double beds. I have to admit at first we were a bit apprehensive about the room as it was so cheap and from Trip Advisor reviews we knew it was a dorm for Conestaga College students during the school year. We asked the woman at check in (Stephanie) to see the room and she gave us a tour of the room. It was completely spotless. We travelled with our toddler who likes to touch everywhere and then put his hands in his mouth so we’re always very picky about the cleanliness of the rooms. This room was spotless. Even the shelves in the rooms had no dust at all. Throughout the day you would see the people working there cleaning the rooms. They were very efficient. Since we were there for only two nights we just asked one of the girls cleaning the rooms for new towels and to empty the garbage and she did that right away, no questions asked. The service was outstanding at this place, from the reception to the people cleaning the rooms. Stephanie at the reception was very friendly and so were the other people working at the reception. One girl at reception (don’t know her name) even looked up places of interest for us to go sightseeing while in town.

This hotel is also pet friendly and it costs $16 per pet per night. I know because our dog was also travelling with us. The hotel has six floors. Parking is self-parking and is complimentary. Lots of parking available in the hotel parking lot and it is well lit at night. There is a gym on the fourth floor with your basic workout equipment including a treadmill. Unfortunately, there was no pool but we were aware of this at the time of the booking. There are three sets of elevators. Towels, shampoo and soap are provided. As you enter the room, there was the bathroom on the right with a tub, shower, toilet and lots of counter space. Lots of towels and facecloths were provided. No hairdryer in the rooms so take one if you need to use it. It was an open concept room with a kitchenette area with a sink, counter space, a mini-fridge and a microwave. There was also a small dining table with three chairs. Lots of shelves, a flat screen TV, two double beds. The sheets were very clean. We were totally impressed with the cleanliness of the room. This room really worked out for us especially with the kitchenette area and the microwave to warm up our son’s meals. The room was also very spacious so our son had lots of room to run around without bumping into stuff like other cramped hotel rooms.

A continental breakfast is included with your stay at no extra cost and is served from 7:00 to 10:00 am every morning in the kitchen lounge. Go past the doors across the reception and it’s the door to your left. Although not a huge variety, there was still enough so can’t complain. There were bagels, bread, jam, cream cheese (toaster for your bagels and bread), three types of cereals, oranges, apples, coffee, tea and three types of juices (cranberry, apple and orange juice). It was self-serve but the people working in the lounge were really good at topping up something if they noticed it was being finished. There were two huge round tables in the lounge where you could sit and have your breakfast or you could sit at the patio sets outside the lounge.

The hotel is on the border of Kitchener/Cambridge. It took us about 17 minutes to drive to Cambridge. One day we drove near University of Waterloo and it was a 20 minutes drive. Tim Horton’s, McDonalds and Mango King (Thai/Vietnamese restaurant) are within a few minutes walk just near the traffic light. The Waterloo Regional Museum is within a few minutes drive. If you’re going to the Waterloo Regional Museum, pick up the Ontario attractions booklet in the hotel lobby near the reception. There is a coupon in there for buy 1, get 1 free admission.

I would definitely recommend this hotel to others, especially if travelling with a pet or small children and we wouldn’t hesitate staying here again.

Upon arrival…People everywhere, it was 245, and check in was not till 3. They stuck to that, so it caused unnecessary loitering, and drinking in the parking lot. First thing I could smell when I walked in was Pot…hmmmm…ok..whatever.

We had a two bedroom suite. For 130 it was disgusting. Each floor, the elevator opened to tile "institutional" floors. hallways, and in the rooms. There was a fridge and a microwave. But no paper cups even. Ice from the last people was in the freezer…no bath towels. to wash cloths and two hand towels… The televisions are not flat screen. They were early 1990 box television, complete with cracks dust and finger prints from every person that has ever been in the room.

the back of the door to the room had so many different finger and pop/beer can spray on the back of it. DISGUSTING. The bed spreads were practically moving they were so gross. do not sleep under one. they are nasty.

We were there for the music festival. Ok. So it was a safe room over our head. THAT'S IT! The manager "dave" I believe…his take was , its not in the write up of what we offer, so "Oh well."
I called down to the desk twice, started at 3am. I did not get an answer, so I had to call from my own phone to the reservation line. A loud party complete with a bongo drummer and guitar player, in the courtyard, partying till at least 4am….NO WAY will I recommend this place to any one. I would' recommend this to a 17-23 year old gang of boys that want to party all night and pee on the floor…no carpet, so you're good.

I asked for a reduction, and was not given one. I was not given anything but a blank stare from a young man that does not know what working at a front desk in a hotel is like. I do. Shame on you people. THUMBS DOWN!

My husband needed accommodations while in Cambridge for 6 weeks. We were directed to the Residence and Conference Centre by the people at Challenger.

From my first inquiry about a long term stay with Martha Wallace to checking into the facility, it was a happy, friendly experience. Having never been required to stay in a hotel for and extending period there were lots of questions we needed to ask, and each one was answered in a friendly, positive, personal way.

We are so pleased to pass on this recommendation to fellow travellers who need to stay in the area, be it just for a night or for weeks as in our case.
We have a open concept room, which the staff keep impecabbly clean, it has
two beds, a T.V. with cable, WIFI ,a microwave, fridge and freezer, so after a long day its easy to make yourself a bite to eat without paying for restaurant food everyday. They also have great BBQ's available in the patio area with picnic tables. Its great to BBQ up burger's or even steaks and enjoy the beautiful summer evenings. There are also many restaurants and shops if you so chose within minutes from this great location. Theatre is also close by if you want to enjoy an evening out.
The contenential breakfast starts at 6am so its great for those who are early risers or need to be on the road early.
As well its very nice to come back to a made up room at the end of the day without having to pay the high prices of a hotel.
The Residence offers all the immenities of a hotel and more at a significantly lower rate.
The customer service we have received from the all staff has been Amazing!!
From the moment we arrived they have made us feel like we were their only guest. Its a great way to start your day when the first face you see greats you with a warm smile and a good morning.

The Mennonite market is just minutes away as well if you want to stay in the area for the night and save your money for market !

After touring the area, and realizing how close it is to the water park and Africian Lion Safari, we are booking my son and two grandkids in for a few nights once school is out for the summer, so they can afford to do additional activities with the money they save on the hotel room !

The Residence has been a great experience. They are 5 star all the way around!

They have won us over as repeat guests !

Thank you to all the staff for taking such good care of us

I am extremely pleased to write a review for the Residence Conference Centre in Kitchener. The hotel is located in extremely convenient location just off HW 401 exit 275. Beautiful forest park surrounding is very calming. It feels like you have escaped from the big city rush. Hotel has an extremely helpful staff, and extremely caring management. They made sure that my experience was top notch. Extremely affordable price! The rooms are very clean and comfortable. A/C, Appetizing Continental Breakfast, Extremely fast Wi-Fi, Very clean beds, washroom. Amenities are over the top. This hotel is by far the best in Kitchener, for this price range!
