Travellers' Choice
Immerse yourself in the historic charm of The Walper Hotel, an iconic 1893 landmark set along the quaint streets of one of Kitchener, Ontario's oldest neighbourhoods. You'll be captivated by this building's amazing past, and charmed by its contemporary flare. From Eleanor Roosevelt's preferred breakfast location on the interior terrace to Lennox Lewis' boxing match in the Crystal Ballroom, to the tales of Al Capone's liquor smuggling operation in the cavernous basement restaurant, every nook and cranny in this Waterloo hotel has a story to tell.

The decor of this renovated old hotel is delightful; quirky and comfortable. I was only sad I was too busy at my conference to use it as a backdrop for some personal photos. The front desk was very helpful with check-in and especially the parking garage nearby. My request for extra coffee was met with a quick response.

I was in town for work and what a lovely place to be! Right in the heart of the city with plenty of things to do around it. The rooms were modern and clean and the staff very friendly. A small but beautiful boutique hotel in the heart of Kitchener ;)

The hotel itself is what you expect for a basic hotel, but the condition of its location was not. The city’s homeless population is much greater than anticipated and there were a few times where it felt unsafe to be outside. This is obviously not the fault of the hotel or the people in the area, but I feel like it’s important to note if you’re planning a trip to the city. Unfortunately, the city’s obvious lack of resources for its own community is one of the reasons that would detour me from visiting this location again.

This was our second time here. Enjoyed the first so thought, why not again. The hotel did not disappoint and the staff were wonderful. We also went the the TWH restaurant for a second time. This was not as good as the previous visit.

I can’t say enough about our stay at the Walper Hotel in Kitchener, Ontario. This hotel is absolutely stunning and very clean. The staff were SO friendly and accommodating from the front desk, cleaner service, Restaurant and bar staff. Our room was amazing, clean and so comfortable. The beds were comfortable, pillows were so soft, bar fridge, coffee machine included and the bathroom was so nice with clean towels etc as well as the shower had excellent water pressure (lots of hotels lack in that) beautiful soap and nice shampoo etc with just a pump from the attached shower container) food at the hotel restaurant/bar was amazing as well as the servers and bartenders. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. Absolute wonderful experience. Thank you so much Mary Lynn

Really nicely appointed hotel in a beautiful old building. Very comfortable bed and pillows. Wonderfully soft and fluffy towels and robes, fantastic modern, clean bathroom with everything you need. The windows were thin and street noise was very audible so next time, I would book a room with courtyard view, not city view.

The hotel is clean, and the staff are friendly. What's most fascinating about this hotel is that it's only a 2-minute walk from the parking garage. The location is easy for me to go anywhere in downtown.

No Parking, or space to unload luggage. Had to unload on a very busy street. The parking garage was disgusting, urine everywhere and garbage. The smell was horrible. Walking thru all that dressed for a wedding was not nice. Embarrassing to our guests. I know it’s the city, but it does fall under the experience of the hotel. Breakfast the next morning was not so good. Sausages were under cooked. For many of us. The service was good. Hope my responses help. Thank you Ann

Very nice front desk, clean, neat beds, simple and roomy. The breakfast that was included was better than I expected. I enjoyed the location as it was across from Tim Hortons and they had a nice pop-up with an artist signing at night.

I'm not one for words, but it was dope, I felt at home and everybody was super nice. I'll add that I had a car with me, parking was never a problem. The street outside is lit. There's always hustle & bustle, I had a great time.
