The Walper is a very nice and recently modernised hotel with all the amenities you would want. Due to the renovations some of the walls however, might be a tad thin which can be a problem due to noisy neighbours or a construction site next door. The staff was very kind and helpful in all the ways available to them.
Hotel was nice and room was well maintained and quite large. Appreciated having the ability to use chromecast and coffee station in room. Staff were friendly. Central kitchener location and would be open to staying again. Note that the cityview room was quite loud at night due to traffic/construction and parking costs 15/night at the garage.
The folks at the front desk were very warm and welcoming. The onsite pub/bistro was excellent with top notch service and attentiveness. I would highly recommend this hotel in the heart of Kitchener downtown. Thank you to all that made my stay so wonderful.
I had a great time on this property. I really appreciate the fun details over the amenities and advices. Food was delicious, and room was very comfortable. I really liked the visual concept of this hotel. I enjoyed my staying there, with the personal warm touch of the staff (Laura, Jennifer, Jarred, Scott) and cannot wait to return on the future.
Clean modern hotel. Rooms were clean, spacious with comfortable beds/linens. Hotel has interesting decor and heritage. Hotel staff was welcoming and very friendly. Staff was friendly and welcoming. Definitely will stay again when visiting Kitchener/Waterloo.
The glass shower door opened the wrong way into the toilet and only opened 12 inches. The toilet blocked the opening of the door! The only way into shower was for me to stand in the corner between the toilet water tank with my naked back pressed against the glass shower wall, open the door against the toilet bowl and squeeze through the 12-inch opening. I have a video of how the door hits the toilet, if no one believes me!
I stayed at the Walper for three nights. The first and third morning there was no hot water in the shower and the second morning there was only hot water. It was impossible to adjust the temperature any day I was there. The silicon caulking on the wall above the bathroom tiles was dirty and the bedside table and phone were covered in dust when I arrived.
We stayed in a King room Nov. 5th while in town for a concert at Centre in the Square. Staff was extremely friendly, happy, and helpful. The Walper was a breath of fresh air and gave me more of a resort feeling, not at all cookie cutter. Our room was visually interesting and quiet, the bed extremely comfortable, even toiletries were impressive. Robes in the wardrobe were a nice surprise. I would definitely recommend and would stay there again!
We very much enjoyed our stay. An interesting historic boutique hotel. Very helpful and friendly staff. Excellent room. Delicious food and wine in the restaurant. Great place for a fall break for my wife and I.
Good experience for a boutique hotel. Parking is across the street so if you have a ton of luggage, park curbside. Room was functional as were only there for 1 night. Hotel was clean and customer service was spot on.
