This hotel is built in the sixties and still has original carpets and wall paper in the room. Should really be upgraded to reflect price versus value for price . Great pool and sauna was warm . Bed was comfortable and you could open the window a bit which is great when you don’t like airco . Carpets are old and worn

We enjoyed staying here for two nights while my daughter was attending a friend’s wedding. The beds are comfortable and the restaurants and shopping are either close by or a very short drive away. Yarmouth is very scenic and we enjoyed driving around. The only issue we had with the room was that the water took a while to drain out of the tub, but that’s nothing that would stop me from staying here again. The staff were very friendly and we were promptly delivered extra towels when we asked for them.

After having multiple issues at a hotel in Digby, we decided to leave early and continue on with our vacation and travel to Yarmouth a day early. Extremely frustrated and emotionally down, we decided to call Rodd Grand Hotel last minute in hopes that they may be able to accommodate us that evening. No problem! The front desk guest services person was so friendly and accommodating. We had a king size bed overlooking the town and harbor-beautiful. Our room was close to the elevators for easy access with all the luggage we had. We always check the room out before settling; when we removed the sheets to inspect the bed, we noticed a stain (dry blood?) on the fitted sheet. We immediately called front desk and she apologized and said that housekeeping would be up to change the sheets, no questions asked. Housekeeping was very prompt, I’d say less than 5 minute wait. She wore a mask which was appreciated during COVID. She changed all the sheets on the bed, not just the fitted sheet which we appreciated as well. She was very friendly and chatted with us while changing the bed (we wore masks too with six feet distance).

In the morning, we went down to the lobby for the ‘pre packaged’ to-go breakfast which was included in the price of the night stay. We were pleased with the choices offered especially with the current pandemic and limitations they have to work with. The front desk staff that provided us with the to-go breakfast was also very friendly. We asked if we could book the pool (due to COVID) and they had no problem booking us for two hours! Wow! Awesome! That evening, when we went to the pool, we couldn’t figure out which door to use (didn’t realize we had to go to the second floor to access the door). A friendly hotel security person saw us struggling on the camera and immediately came out to unlock the door we were trying to access, and provided us with information on how to access the pool for the next time.

The only negative things I would say about the hotel which would be mostly suggestions: The rooms could use a little sprucing up; old stained carpets and peeling/stained wallpaper with multiple holes from where things once were hung. Suggestion for the pool would be to provide music? I understand that it would be difficult to accommodate all guests’ taste of music, but maybe easy listening or the local radio station. My hubby brought his blue tooth speaker to the pool and other guests (who regularly use the pool) even mentioned how much they enjoyed listening to music instead of the usual silence while doing their exercise in the pool.

All in all, the hospitality of Rodd Grand Hotel was beyond wonderful! We had a great stay, comfortable bed, beautiful view, and would definitely stay there again! We will definitely recommend to others.

I'm a local and have stayed here before with friends for events. Everytime something disturbing happens. However. My husband and I decided to buy passes for their "fitness" center.... They told us the prices had to be increased to pay for renovations. Specifically the hot tub... A year later I called to ask if the hot tub had been fixed only to be told it has not and will not be fixed.. seriously, can't even afford a hot tub. If Todd cared to put these small renovations in they would probably make more money

We truly wanted to like this hotel. We noticed they offer romantic packages but with covid we went with the king room and took our own wine and wanted to support local restaurants so booked king room for two nights
Friendly check inn and nice staff is why it gets a 1 star. So very disappointed with everything, cleanliness, damage to walls, holes in curtains, broken lamps, mould in bathroom (however there was a new bath insert) the shower water pressure or lack of made it impossible to wash hair. Mattress was disgusting but we were grateful for clean sheets. Chair in room was full of crumbs and under the cushion there was a gum packet and more crumbs.
If your looking for a room for your hockey league then it’s probably ok, the hockey group staying on our floor, kids running up and down hall way, no masks, parents had a good rather loud get together in one room and yes walls are so thin you good hear everything! Not a peaceful weekend at all!
The hotel restaurant food & staff Amazing, following strict covid protocols
If you feel like delivery don’t worry they can just ride up to any floor any time,
We stayed in Yarmouth before and by far a much cleaner etc hotel is the Best Western (mermaid)

This hotel in my opinion is the best place to stay in Yarmouth. It is right downtown within walking distance of harbour front restaurants and right across from a charming little park with a beautiful fountain. Views from the upper floors are absolutely stunning. Although the room decor was a bit dated the beds were very comfortable and linens were top quality. Everything was super clean and the on site restaurant Gales had a great selection of options at very good prices. All staff were very friendly and efficient. I would not stay anywhere else when travelling through Yarmouth area!

Felt unwelcomed as soon as we arrived by the girls at check in, room 508 was musty and was a hassle to get moved. Check out was easy though. Some paid $89 plus $20 room voucher while others paid $139. Check the travel sites for better rates. Thought the wedding guests would get the best rate by calling but not so.

We visited and stayed at the Grand as part of a site tour for our upcoming conference. We enjoyed our stay, the tour was extensive and informative. We are looking forward to hosting our conference here - the central location, conference facilities and food sampled all suggest we are going to have a great 'host' property experience.

Certainly. I usually go to Rudder's Seafood Restaurant when I'm staying in Rodd, but there are a few other restaurants within a short (few minutes) walk. Activities wise, most of it is centered along the waterfront which is also within walking distance.

Well it depends on the weather and time of day, and how much luggage you have! It’s about 6 blocks - it was raining when we got there, and we had a car.

One of the reviews states you ave bed bugs. Has this been addressed
Answer from Will M
Bostonbri4. The room in question was quarantined and a professional pest control company was called in to assess the room. They found no evidence of any pest activity and a report can be provided to that effect. If you would like to further discuss please don't hesitate to reach out. Answer from Robert W

Hello Canadiantraveller, All our suites are located close to the middle of the building. The pool access is at the end of the hallway on the second floor. We would however have rooms with two queen beds very close to the pool.
