I am a local so this is one of the few ways I can actually be assured a camping site. We get sooo many out of area campers that it can be tricky to get a campsite. I have a seasonal site at the front of the campground, the beach site area is a bit like a parking lot. The Dog Beach is such a hike from where I am but it is a nicer beach than the people beach which is mucky and gross. I only stayed for 6 nights the whole year and did lots of day camping. The train was the big factor. I never could get used to it. It is frequent and loud...not the fault of the campground, it just is. Those who want a "real camping experience" this is not for you. IF you want convenient to town camping with all the amenities, maybe this is for you.

Spectacular part of Canada, but what a dust bowl!! There isn't a blade of grass to be found anywhere in the campground. The kids were dirty, the dog was dirty the RV was dirty. It was a very stressfull holiday. There should be more effort put into cleaning up bits of garbage throughout the resort as well. One & done.

All travel magazine descriptions led us to believe this was a beautiful campsite with excellent ratings. I should have checked Trip Advisor first.

I will sum it up here in a paragraph. 1. Very loud, frequent, ground shaking trains. 2. Overflowing garbage dumpsters. 3. Bathrooms not fit for livestock. 4. Rutted roads in need of grading. 5. Beach littered with garbage. 6. Jerrasic-park like overgrowth for the mini golf. 7. Overall upkeep absent.

Don't bother. Skip this one. Too bad as its not a bad location other than the train tracks.

We booked a week at Pierre Point as they allow pets and we have a small dog. There are many seasonal campers here and it’s a friendly campground. We did not realize that not all sites have sewer so we had power and water but no sewer. If you want beach front you will not have sewer. But there is a truck that comes around and you can pay to dump your tanks. We chose to shower at the public shower and only use the toilet in our trailer. Sani-dump is available on site on the way out for free.

There is a train right behind the campground but we didn’t find it bothered us at night. You can hear it a lot during the day but when camping who cares? We didn’t. Every site is fairly close to the beach. Some are beachfront. Amazing! No pets on the beach. You have to walk to the end of the property and there is a lovely beach where dogs are allowed. It is not maintained by the campground but it was great. We spent every day there.

Showers are pay. Hot and clean daily. Playground on site. Dishwashing area. Fairly typical campground. The tent sites are further away from the dog beach. Close to the entrance of the park. In the “forest half” of the park.

It wasn’t the prettiest park we have been to but we really enjoyed our stay and it’s a very relaxed park right on Shuswap Lake. Can’t complain!

There is also a nice little waterfall not far away to hike. BIG BUG SPRAY!!

We had a bad algae bloom in the lake so the water was very green but it was warm and fun. Mosquitoes are a pain at dusk!

We've camped here before the new management. They were always great and supportive. New management has taken over and so far not impressed. There are wildfires all over BC and in this area, BC government has asked visitor not to come unless necessary and this campground is refusing to give ANY refunds. I spoke with staff who indicated that even in the events of "acts of god" they would not give refunds. I would not waste my money or time booking at this location; lots of other options in the area. Just a cash grab

My family is planning a trip to the Campground and called to ask for a refund or even a voucher to come back because the government is saying stay away from the region, due to air quality and you know the fact that most of that area is under Evacuation alert or order from the numerous fires in the area. I would like to visit this Campground but I'd say they dont care about safety for their customers. This makes me question this campgrounds ethics, morals, and just disregard for what the government is trying to say.

I read the reviews before arriving at Pierre's Point and decided to go anyway (had a recommendation from a family member who said the Campground is fine and the location is unparalleled). I'm so glad we did go. I thought the Campground was better than fine, and the location was absolute perfection.

The train was near constant, and I'm glad we don't have small children, or didn't bring our dog that barks at every sound. If you are in a camper, you will not hear the train at night. And even during the day, we didn't hear it after the first 3 times, you just get used to it.

We went for several walks to check out the campground, we love seeing how people set up their sites. It appears the place is largely a seasonal resort, with whatever is left available to the public for booking. Seeing that really solidified for me that the train is not that big a deal. If you are in a tent, or in that last row where the tracks are, I might feel differently. Most people have done a beautiful job with their site. The office was open anytime we went in, and the staff were super friendly and helpful.

Would absolutely stay here again, don't let neg reviews stop you unless the train thing is a big deal to you.

Feel free to message with any specific questions!

I know what some of you are saying, yes not the greatest sites (except permanent seasonal) but we still found it very nice especially if you have dogs! They have their own little doggie beach! Everytime we've gone its been quiet and so relaxing just to sit at the beach at night. If you have a small fishing boat, very convenient, can pull up the beach and short walk to your camper/rv. Staff very friendly, bathrooms and laundry clean. They are also super pet friendly there compared to the other camping accommodations at the Shuswap. Fishing is just unbelievable outside of the bay, Pierre's Point is awesome in our eyes. We were actually looking at long term seasonal option there, only downside is too far from our home!

Truth be told, this place is geared to their long term rentals. They get the best spots and are probably 90% of their business. There’s a pocket of 20 spots for short term crammed in between the primo spots on the beach and the tracks but they’re awful. Zero privacy. And the trains! Oy. CP’s major line in literally 100 ft from our spot and the two to three dozen 150 car trains that rumble by every day make the earth move….and not in a good way. Most positive reviews here come from long term folks I’m sure….can’t imagine who else this place would appeal to. No investment in the upkeep of the place in many years. Quite dingy.

Lovely little private campground. Staff and campers are friendly! Staff keep the campground clean.

Beach is large, dog beach is gorgeous. Mini golf is free and fun (a little challenging).

Some spots are more shaded than others. Call the front desk if you have any questions and they'll be heappy to help!
