We booked based on photos and cost. Photos are definitely misleading. - maybe from 20 years ago? Tiny room, stained, dirty rug, broken table, no bedside lights, mildew smell, peeling paint,... The manager had all sorts of excuses but no help. Would not move us to a different room. Unfortunately town is pretty full tonight or we'd be gone. Not very soundproof either.
Rooms were filthy, air conditioner was unusable it sounded like a jet plane taking off, bathroom screen was cut off window. My daughters room had blood on the wall and used bottles were found under the bed. No ice machine, wasp nest under gazebo floor and couldn’t regulate hot and cold water for shower. Complained to management and got nothing. Bill was over $900. 00 to stay and all I ever got when reporting this to front desk is “I’m aware of that”. I recently sent photos to the owner and got a message back that he sorry it was bad, he was away those months and they are planning renovations!! NOT happy, LAST visit
Very overpriced. $325 for one night in a sad excuse for a room. We were told we had a large room with 4 beds. It was a regular room with a queen and a set of bunk beds shoved in together and the back room had a double. Beds were very old and uncomfortable. Bathroom was dirty and the baseboards were covered in hair and grime. Front desk lady/manager was very nice and aware of the condition of the motel and has been receiving many complaints. The managers husband was less than friendly and rude. New owners have taken over and are not doing anything to maintain or improve. DON'T SYAY HERE!!!!!!!
Booked through Expedia. Night of, approx. 7pm, Canterbury Inn manager called us and told us they no longer have a room for us with a simple “sorry, this happens all the time” There were no more hotels left in the area, so we looked into Canmore hotels, where the cheapest was over $400. After a lot of pressuring, manager transferred us to her boss who finally booked hotel for us in Canmore. When we arrived, we discovered he hadn’t paid for it and we were faced with a $600 charge!! When we tried to sort this out, Canterbury Inn blocked our calls. We called Expedia and Canterbury refused to talk with them as well. Around 1am, Expedia ended up subsidizing our stay in Canmore, but we still had to pay $212 to stay at a hotel in a different city at 1am. Book Canterbury at your own risk….…
Booked through Expedia and when I got there I paid in cash. A couple of minutes later, my credit card got charged so I went to the front desk and the lady said I was going to get a refund in 2-3 days. It has been more than 10 days and still no refund. I have been calling every day and they stopped answering my calls. If you don't want to get scammed, don't stay here. Plus, the rooms are old and our shower hadn't been cleaned (it had dirty feet marks all over). The only positive thing is the mattress was not too bad and it is in a good location. But overall, way overpriced for the poor quality of the place, and still waiting for my refund. Would NOT recommend it.
We were very impressed with this accommodation. The gentleman at the front desk was extremely friendly & helpful. He accommodated our family group last minute on a long weekend by giving us 2/3 of a suite for a discounted price. It was very clean, renovated tastefully & quiet. We would absolutely stay here again!
We stayed 2 nights at this hotel; one night on the way up, one on return. Very convenient en route to Banff from MT & location in town for walking to stores. Rooms were mediocre. Dated, beds fair, fairly clean. Manager nice, helpful but Asian accent difficult to understand.
Terrible experience in here we were given a room that was smaller because we had a dog room was very old and tired the bathroom had flies coming out of the sink and the tiles on the sink were so old the grout was dirty there is no extractor fan in the bathroom you had to open the window to let steam out of the room and the window is a slider that you have to get into the bath to open and you can see across the street so make sure u are clothed when doing so no privacy the sill had a layer of dust on it all the catches on the windows were loose from ill fitted screws so leave nothing valuable in there as there’s no safe to store stuff the appliances fridge microwave tv and coffee machine had 2 sockets to share so u had to unplug stuff to use the one drawer which you had to share with 4 people was not adequate to store our clothes and not enough storage for other clothes the furniture was so old even the drawers smelt musty there is only 2 cups 2 bath and hand towels provided so not enough for 4 people to use the sound proofing is non existent we could hear a child constantly thumping around upstairs constantly all night while we were trying to watch tv and because they were night owls were up most of the night so too noisy to sleep the air conditioning is a joke the slats that direct the air into the room were broken and the unit itself was meant for a window installation and it was placed in a wall so no cold air was getting through in fact it was colder outside than in our room we had to take our dog out a lot just to let him cool down as he over heated because of this…
The great thing about this place is the location. The wear in the rooms and the building is obvious. The walls are paper thin and we could constantly hear stomping above us all night (until 2am) and all day. The room was very small, and needed serious updating, especially the bathroom. It was expensive for what we got (about $180/ night). The pros: great location, great bed, pet friendly. Small fridge and microwave.
A clean but abused hotel showing its age and Lack of good maintenance. Helpful staff new bed and lots of hot concrete and dead plants it was a port in the storm.located just off of main street with good access to shops and restaurants.
