Had a fantastic 3 day stay at the Old House. The room was wonderful, nice view of the gardens. Great location close to great shopping in Courtenay. The restaurant located within the hotel is also really good, had a wonderful dinner. Would highly recommend the hotel and restaurant 👍
Really enjoyed our time at the Old House. We had booked the cheapest room on the website. However, when we got to the room, we had been placed in a suite. Absolutely loved the extra space. The room had a kitchen, dining table, fireplace, 2 tv's. King-size bed was very comfortable. The staff were very friendly and courteous. Locals restaurant on the property is fantastic. This will be the only place I will stay when in Courtney. Highly recommended
Super comfortable and spotlessly clean room with all amenities needed. The complimentary cookies and fruit were a nice touch. The in-room coffee was delicious! The heated pool and hot tub open at night was a highlight.
Lately it feels like hotel prices have gone way up and rooms/service have gone way down. Not here. It felt like the people who own and work at this hotel actually care about their guests. I am very particular but I found that every detail here was considered. Our room was spotless and perfectly equipped. Everyone went the extra mile to make sure our stay was perfect. I can't recommend enough!
I came to have a night and relax and the floors in my room were extremely cold. I had to wear my shoes and a jacket because of how cold this room was. Paying 340 for this room you’d expect the floors to be warm, there was a constant breeze it was absolutely freezing. I got 100 off which they should have reimbursed me , not to sure why I wasn’t. I could have stayed in my car where the heat worked. It so disappointing cause I’ve had great experiences at this hotel.
This is our second stay. Beautiful hotel, well appointed rooms and Locals Restaurant is a MUST!! Staff and food are second to none. Pool, grounds and walking trails make for a wonderful stay!! We will definitely be back!!
Best place to live when you're going to Mount Washington! It's less than 40 minutes from the mountain! There's a nice pool and hot tub after your ski day for the kids and an awesome restaurant, the Locals!
23/01/28 This review is 100% accurate and true. Booked a suite for 2 nights @ $197.96 and booked another suite couple of days later for 1 night @ $197.96. At check out I was looking at my folio, they charged me $238.95 for my friends room then got interrupted by Karen again, I will tell you later what happened. At check in, I asked the receptionist if housekeeping could provide me with pee pads. I had surgery a month ago and ended up with a bladder infection. This women called Karen who is the manager ( I found out her name and position later) interrupts my conversation with the receptionist and says” in a harsh voice “I been here 7 years and nobody has asked me for pee pads”. (I said to myself “liar”). I said to Karen, there are a lot of seniors who have prostate and bladder issues, Karen’s replied in her harsh voice “well we don’t have any” I said well you should and looked at her straight in her eyes. Get to my ground floor suite, it is freezing, I increased the thermostats, did a room inspection, there was deficiencies in the room, bathroom, kitchen appliances, furniture and TV.. For example my fridge door would not close properly because the inside panel was broken. In the living room, there must have been at least 12 wall switches not labeled, you had to hit each one to see what light it controlled, some worked and some didn’t. Room is still cold, touch the tile floor is very cold, touched the carpet same thing. Took out my vape that has a temperature gauge and put in on the tile, gave it a few minutes, reading 36 degrees and put it on the carpet 41 degrees. Off to see Karen, I told her my room was freezing because the building is sitting on cement pillars everything under my floor is exposed, all the pipping and exposed to outside environment . I asked her when the building was built, she said in 2007, I said to her, in 15 years the owners couldn’t fix the problem, her response “they are working on it” (I said to myself “liar”). The last night my friend and I were drinking and got really hammered. I locked myself out of my room around 4:00 am. I phoned the front desk from my friends room, I told the front desk I needed a room key because I locked myself out, he said I AM THE ONLY ONE HERRE and can not leave the front desk, he said you will have to come and get it. I said to this guy, what if you get a call from a women says her husband is having a heart attack, do you have a defibrillator he said yes but was not trained to use it. I asked him what would you do he said call 911, well we all know how good the ambulance service is these days. minutes count when someone is suffering from a heart attack, in this case the guest would most likely die. I said to this guy, don’t say anything to Karen regarding our conversation. One front desk person for the hotel at night who can’t leave the desk, COME ON. Outdoor pool is so cold, you can't swim in it, cost too much to heat. Friday check out day, continuation of my first paragraph, the first thing Karen said to me, we have a janitor at night (I said to myself liar). She said to me “you are not welcome to be a gust here anymore” I said why, “she said last night conversation with the person at the front desk and everything else “OUT” you are no longer welcome here, “GET OUT NOW” (get rid of the problem) I couldn’t get my money back for the overcharge for my friends room. In short Karen is a very poor manager based on my review, I will be escalating my review to Strata Board 5091 and recommend she be FIRED. Karen's response most likely will not be the truth. Comfortable well appointed suites and friendly, knowledgeable staff. Close proximity to shopping and dining. Easy access to major streets and highways serving the Comox Valley and beyond. What's not to love?
If you want a room with a balcony and view away from the city you should ask for it. Staff is always really nice at this hotel. They have apples and cookies for the guests in the lobby. You can take lovely walks from here to the estuary.
