Colonial Resort & Spa is a full service property situation on 10 relaxing acres. We are seasonal (May 1 to the end of October). We have 54 guests rooms including some rooms with fireplace and jacuzzi tub. We have a gift shop, bar, spa, indoor heated pool, steam room, sauna, hot tub as well as an outdoor pool, shuffleboard, horseshoes, bocce ball, and walking path. We are close to the 1000 Islands Cruise, helicopter rides, theatre, casino, Fort Henry and more!

Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
The grounds are pretty. The motel overall is quite outdated and the rooms need to be deep cleaned more regularly. Some rooms have carpet and some flooring.The windows were in dire need of scrubbing as were the floors and some items were dusty, for example.
The kitchen is not functional (renos) but there were items like yogurt, bananas and muffins available in the mornings. There are no microwaves in the room so don't depend on one to heat anything up. The coffee machine was located in the bathroom so best to forgo using it.
My friend and I were also left with suspicious bites in our rooms as were some of our friends in other rooms. A complaint to the hotel first went unheeded (a manager has not returned our call despite requests for it). A report was later sent by our event planner that they found no evidence of anything although we had numerous bites.
I would have liked more emphasis on customer support and experiance as we encountered a few problems with this throughout our stay including this incident and asking about local eateries. There are a couple workers who were fabulous but this was not the case for my entire stay.
It has the potential to be a great property if attention is placed on the guest experience, cleanliness and even being the resort and spa it claims to be currently. All in all in my opinion for its price point there are better accommodations in the area.

Good first impression that didn't last. Biggest issue? No staff to maintain basic cleanliness standards. Only 1 person had an idea of how to run a business based on hospitality, and she worked far too many hours and had far too many tasks . Except for an uncommunicative reception clerk, and 1 other male wandering the grounds, we saw no other staff in 4 days. Guests source their own replacement amenities (t.p.,drinking cups) empty own garbage . Forget room tidying . Left here with very suspicious and numerous itchy bites on body and legs. Luckily did not meet the skunk who appeared to be living under the front decking.

Worst place I have ever stayed. The room smelled terriable. The bed was like sleeping on a mattress of only springs. Our daughter got a rash from swimming in the pool. Staff did not explain towels will not be replaced or room cleaned daily. Very dated and tired looking. Pictures on web site are several years old and the breakfast that is included is a joke. We left before our stay was up.

We made the error of staying here! On arrival we received terrible welcome by check in staff - more interested in their phone than dealing with guests, had to request individual to put down phone and come to counter - never have I had to do this in all my many years of travel. Room ok - tired/dated Breakfast was non existent very poor selection , we were the only ones sitting in and places had not been cleared, very messy, thick cobwebs on decor. We spoke to others who were staying more than 1 night and they reported things went missing from their room. The disappointing thing is that this could be a nice place with a bit of effort but the current owner/staff appear to have no interest in doing so.

Even such a low price as 111 $ per night (95+tx) does not justify such a low standard and room equipment. I had the impression that the equipment was from a second-hand store, including a refrigerator that ran like a tractor. The room had no ventilation, you couldn't open the window and the smell of old carpet mixed with another air freshener (?). This Resort needs a MAJOR renovation.

We stayed for 2 and 1/2 days the pools were cold, across the street construction is going on, the gift shop reeked of animal urine, and the place was definitely not a Spa. Stay there if you have to for financial reasons. I forgot an expensive chain and calendar behind that the cleaner never found be careful!

We booked a stay for a couple of days and to start, the name of the hotel is terribly misleading. On arrival it was fairly evident this resort/spa was in fact a tired motel. Upon entering our rooms, the stale smell of old mold was quite evident. The bed looked like a child had made it - pretty much a sheet on top of old pillows, and the box spring supported by a sheet of plywood. Not exactly "resort" setting.
There was also a bunch of spider webs (with spiders!) under the washroom vanity.
Concerned enough health-wise to stick out our overnight stays - so we called it a day and shortened our trip to head home.

The room we were given was clearly not cleaned prior to our arrival and had bed bugs. Shower didn't work. Only dealt with one staff member so won't speak for everyone, but the staff member I dealt with was ridiculously rude and would not provide any information about our options for being refunded for the remainder of our stay if we checked out. We were told the manager, who was unavailable until after our planned checkout, would "think about" refunding us and would let us know later, and that no one else present could help us with this. Later the same staff member, who then stated they were the manager, said they have a clear policy which is shared with all guests...not the case, even when clearly asked what they refund policy is. Definitely sketchy; bottom line, this is a crappy, run-down motel charging way more than it's worth. Just gross, would not advise staying here.

Unfortunately this place has declined significantly! The previous owners had true pride in ownership! Not so true anymore! Dirty, water damage, moldy, broken furniture and bugs! Terribly neglected with staff oblivious to any issues!!

Unfortunately, I can't give "no stars". I have never stayed in a hotel with bed bugs, but I guess there is a first for everything. I have never had to share my bathroom with a guest because their toilet was non-functional. AC in many rooms non-existent. Front Desk hangs up on guests or doesn't answer the phone at all. Customer Service 0. Room Quality 0. Amenities 0. Maid Service 0. Thank goodness I only had to stay three days. Will never be back again!
