We were warmly welcomed. The staff at the front desk were very helpful. There was plenty of parking near the building.
We stayed in room 144. It was on the first floor near the door, convenient for our dog.
The hotel, room and grounds were immaculate. The room was large, modern and well equipped with a fridge and microwave. There was enough light to read.
The breakfast was varied and plentiful. The 2 ladies in charge of the breakfast room did an amazing job refilling food and drinks and making sure everyone was taken care of.

I checked in around 6pm on 2023/10/4. The front desk was not in a friendly mood. She thanked me for being an IHG Club member, but did not acknowledge my IHG elite status, or tell me any welcome points were being deposited.
They had upgraded me to a suite (which IHG informed me via email) but the email did not say it went from two beds to one bed. I specifically wanted two beds, so this should never be an automatic upgrade! When I asked reception to put me back in a room with two beds, she seemed annoyed. Thankfully, they still had a room with two beds, or it would've been very disruptive.
Finally, she told me my credit card would be charged overnight, instead of upon check-out. This is unusual. When I informed her that I might pay with a different payment method upon check-out, she had to make an extra note on my bill. My request wasn't unusual, so maybe the hotel shouldn't process final payments until check-out.
The room was dated and cleanliness could have been improved. I did not feel I got good value for the money.

As a valued platinum member, we upgraded you to our whirlpool suite as we did not have many left. There were a lot of rooms with 2 beds and the front desk knew they could easily move you if you needed the 2 beds. I have spoken with all front desk staff on our check in procedures to ensure to you and other guests do not have the same experience moving forward. We do process credit cards after the audit to ensure a quick check out. We hope to welcome you back in the future so we can show you this past stay was an exception. Kind regards

We spent two nights at this hotel since all other properties in town were booked. It was quite busy due to the long weekend and pricey as well (over $300 per night).
The hotel is located very close to 401, 1000 Islands Parkway and the casino, but quite far from downtown Gananoque if you are planning to walk (about 25-30 minute walk).
Our room was quite large, but not extremely clean and maintained. There was dust and hair on the bathroom floor, the alarm clock was broken, mini fridge had a big dent on the door, furniture was chipped and scratched. Both inner and outer walls were not soundproof at all. We could hear people talking next door, guests walking in the hallways, cars pulling in and out of the parking lot and being woken up several times during the night by different noises.
The breakfast was OK, limited choice and would easily run out of items. Guests were also not considerate when taking food - a lady in front of us took 3 pieces of cheese omelette while she only ate one and threw other two in the garbage. The breakfast area is not very big and when the hotel is busy, you will most likely end up eating breakfast in your room.
Next time we will choose a different property.

We stayed here for one night on our way to Mont Tremblant. The hotel is conveniently located and there's lots of parking. Room was comfortable and large and pretty decent for the most part. I felt that the bathroom could have been a little cleaner and the shower gel was not refilled so we ran out. The front-desk staff were nice and check-in was very quick and efficient. We had a one-bedroom suite which was overpriced for what it was, seemed a little basic but it was nicest hotel in Ganonoque by far so I would highly recommend it.

The Pension is very decent!!

We were upgraded to a suite with a jacuzzi and electric fireplace. When we arrived we were asked for proof of vaccination and were given two little slips of paper which were required to access the breakfast area and pool. Not sure what arrangements are available for free breakfast if you are not fully vaccinated. Breakfast options included cereal; apples and oranges but no bananas; milk in pitchers but not individual containers; juice from dispenser; bagels and bread for toasting; hot food included cheese omelette, bacon and pancakes. Traffic was one-way and clearly indicated.

The breakfast was good and had lots of choice and the rooms were clean. But what really got to me was that not only did we have to pay in American funds, we were charged a reservation fee as well. I usually book on line and this is what I did in this case, but after I booked the room, there is a small notation that comes up that says you are paying in American funds. So it cost us close to $270 for a room that was listed at $137 plus taxes.

Thank you E2548HOlyndah for your review. We did not and would never charge in American funds or charge a fee to book a room. You booked your reservation through a 3rd party web site and they are the ones that charged you. Unfortunately there is nothing we can do when you book through these sites. May I suggest in the future to book directly through the hotel or IHG directly to avoid this happening to you again.

We enjoyed our stay at Holiday Inn Express Gananoque. Quick efficient check in. Clean modern rooms. Convenient microwave, fridge and safe. Good complimentary hot breakfast. We made use of the pool, sauna and fitness room. All well maintained. The staff was helpful to provide extra towels, blankets and pullows upon request. The hotel was about 5 mins drive from the pier or marina. Very close to main sights and photo spots. The check out process also quick and efficient. We would stay here again.
