Christmas shopping in Saint Andrews was a must for me, so I chose to stay two nights at Windsor House for its location... downtown amongst the beautiful boutiques and galleries. The result was my sleeping in a bedroom out of a Jane Austen novel. The furnishings and decor were breathtaking, and very comfortable. My room was large with a reading area in front of a beautiful fireplace, surrounded by amazing original artwork and two windows offering views of the water and the decorated shops. My private bath had a beautiful clawfoot tub and a wall-mounted tank with pull chain flush. Jay was a most gracious host, cooked delicious breakfasts while I enjoyed our conversations. I will return!

This is a lovely hotel which offers thoughtful, personal service. The property itself is historic and beautiful. The room we stayed in had exposed wooden beams, high ceilings, and tons of books to browse. Original artworks were everywhere. The innkeeper was very helpful and made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. Breakfast was delicious and customized to what we wanted. It featured local jams and products which had been curated. In an era of short-term rentals these types of accommodations are a true gem and I would encourage anyone staying in St. Andrew’s to stay at Windsor House to experience what true accommodations should be.

My wife and I, along with our 2 pocket beagles, spent two wonderful days at Windsor House. Jay and John were extremely gracious hosts, assisting us in any way possible. To put in to perspective how amazing Windsor House and our hosts take care of their guests, we were the only guests that had not been there before. This type of loyalty is the result of placing their guest first! Jay prepared an amazing breakfast for us and the other guests. Truly a highlight of our visit. If you are planning on visiting St. Andrews, I’d highly recommend you stay at Windsor House. It is our favourite BnB that we’ve ever stayed at... Thanks so much Jay and John!

I will start this review by saying I am so sad I was only here for 1 night! This trip was a last minute trip...my best friend wanted to check a few things of her bucket list in NB (whale watching, Magnetic Hill 😂, kayaking at the Rocks), all of which were amazing! Everything from the moment of booking this adorable B&B until the moment of pulling out of the parking lot the next day was fabulous! Everyone here were so welcoming and friendly, it really did seem like i’ve known them for years. They provided a tour of place upon greeting us, showed us to our room, gave us some tips for dinner (we got in a little late after driving from Ontario). We went out and did some quick sight seeing and had a great dinner by the water. We returned with a bottle of wine and sat out in the courtyard chit chatting, no one else was out there, so it was quiet and gorgeous. Had a fab night sleep (the beds were so comfy in our room (2 twins), we awoke to a great breakfast and some lovely conversation with the other guests. I will very much be going back here when I have time to relax in true St. Andrews style! Thank you for such a lovely experience guys!!

My husband and I and our dog Emma had a wonderful stay at the historic and charming Windsor House...and if you like art and antiques, this is the place for you. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and beautifully appointed. There was a sitting area in front of a fireplace and a clawfoot tub in the bathroom. The courtyard was the perfect place to relax with our books after a day of touring. You can walk to all the cute shops and restaurants. We enjoyed the sunset and a view of the bay from our balcony. Last but certainly not least was the hospitality of our host Jay. He is a wealth of knowledge about the area and provides a great breakfast. Thank you for a thoroughly enjoyable stay in your lovely home Jay!

An absolute gem in a movie set town , Windsor House exudes charm and character while sympathetically retaining the historical significance of this late 1700’s building. Our room was huge with a lovely bathroom and perfect water pressure in the shower. Our hosts Jay and Durrell were fabulous hosts. The breakfast was delicious, eggs, bacon, sausage plus a spread of continental offerings. Keep that sourdough on the menu Jay. We enjoyed sitting on the spacious balcony off our room enjoying the views of the town, the bay and a full moon rising. Our hosts were very helpful with what to do around town, we just wish we had more time to tour the area. Don’t change anything.

Beautifully restored home with lots of charm right on the main commercial street in town. Despite this, was very quiet at night. Room was spacious and comfortable and tastefully decorated. Hosts prepared hot breakfast was appreciated on a rainy morning. Numerous restaurants nearby and an easy walk to the famous Algonquin Hotel. Highly recommended.

Yes, that is how we felt when we entered into the Windsor House. They immediately made us feel welcome and at home. The ambiance truly relaxed you as you unpack in a spacious room , with a fireplace, books , sitting area, a/c, a view of the water , balcony out front and grand sitting/entertaining area out back. Oh did I mention the ensuite, with a real claw foot tub for soaking after a hard day shopping. They truly have a gem here and I am glad we found them. Thank you Jay & Company

A community of two thousand inhabitants, St. Andrews has real small town charm. Water Street is its 8 block long main drag and the Windsor House is near its beginning. The hotel is over 220 years old, a wooden structure of three stories, with a rich history that its long term proprietor, Jay, will happily share with you. He and his subaltern, Durrell, will cook your breakfast to order daily and provide you with suggestions for things to do for the day. There are numerous restaurants nearby, as well as a supermarket and a laundromat (Jay was upset that we did not ask him about this; he said the hotel's laundry facilities were at our disposal). Our room was #5, on the third floor (but our luggage was cheerfully carried up for us). It was a huge room with exposed post and beam ceilings and spruce flooring still bearing the sawyer marks. There were book cases full of books, a room window unit AC if needed, an ensuite bathroom with tub and shower (hairdryer included) and a minifridge in the hallway outside our door. No road noise was noticeable, even with street front window open. There is a community room downstairs, with comfortable sofas and chairs, where port is served in the evening. In good weather, the outside patio is available. Parking outside is no added cost. Locals were friendly and ready conversationalists. I would love to return here for a longer stay.
